Ignore List Request

Any chance of adding one? There are a small group of users that negatively impact my experience on the site. Can someone help me out?

Edit: I should not have singled someone out.

DFWTF...DON'T FUCK WITH THE FULLERS

There's a reason the downvote button exists.

It would take something profoundly stupid for him to say to remove all of his turkey legs. I mean his was trying to voice his opinion though IMO came off a little rough about it which is why he got down voted. I don't think he needs to be ignored but I can just imagine the massive amount of down votes that would need to occur for something like that to happen. Might break a record for most down votes.

I'd support this. I'd be all for letting the users control who they want to block and just letting the mods ban the trolls, like it is on most forums I've used.

I'll also probably get some flak for saying this but I'd also be fine with eliminating the turkey leg system. It was a great idea that seems to have become too big for it's own good. Every thread gets clogged up with worthless "Why did I get downvoted?", "accidental phone downvote," and "+1 to make up for it" comments and detracts from the actual topic. There's got to be better ways to distinguish the power TKP'ers.

No way, I'd be blocked by everyone.
I've been here a while and posted a lot but I have yet to think of something intelligent to say.

This is going to be great for the ACC.

You've been pretty entertaining since that contract argument haha

This is the type of thread that negatively effects the TKP society. If you don't like a post just scroll down, click on another topic, or feel free to give your opinion. Calling someone out in a manner like this is just uncalled for.

May we all get what we want and never what we deserve.

See what I mean?

Kim Jong Un: A screaming little toddler who doesn't really understand what's going on around him, but thinks that by throwing a little hissy fit, the world will be made all better for him.

It's funny because that's exactly what this thread sounds like! Hahahaha.....anyways, looking at his posts, those angry posts were closer to the end of the game than his others, so maybe he was just angry. Also, the posts where it got real nasty were his responses to people telling him to STFU etc etc etc. Just sayin'.

So let's all stop acting like 'Hoos and self-hating Hokies and get along.

As much as I'd like to blame the bourbon (as I see quite often on the internet), I really don't drink enough for that to be a legitimate excuse. I was just increasingly frustrated with peoples' unceasing desire to absolutely rip a guy (LT3, not myself) who's doing his absolute best to represent this school well (which he does, no question) and win football games (which he does well, sometimes.)

That said, I agree I was a bit too rough on a few of my posts, and for that I apologize. But hey, there's the internet.

I think you should just get like 5 legs to give each day

I like that I didn't see this thread until the edit happened.

I like the turkey leg system. It lets us self-regulate.

Turkey leg system is great for individual posts. It could be used similar to reddit where the most upvoted posts get moved up to the top and down voted posts hidden. The current system does little to regulate users unless they are brand new.

Yeah one of those "This post received too many negative votes." thing would be nice. As long as the 'show the post anyway' thing was there, too.

Only from the standpoint that I think these folks have the opportunity to post their thoughts and feelings, and that's a wonderful thing. Not that I agree with many of them, but I wouldn't change the format here to silence them.

I am asking for a personal ignore list. You wouldn't see posts from people you put on the list. The posts would still be there for everyone else to enjoy.

What you are asking for requires a tremendous amount of extra work by Joe (who is the IT support for the site) and runs completely contrary to the spirit in which the community was created. My advice is to do a couple of finger curls and use the scroll button.

Good freaking grief.

Hello there! :)

what about an upvote/downvote (up turkey/down turkey) system for the post itself? then you could view the positive/negative review on the tracker and decide whether or not you want to view.

We put the K in Kwality

Oooh, I like it.

It was a catch

Something like this needs to happen, but I need to think about how to do it properly. Don't expect it to happen until the season is over, at the earliest, but it's at the top of my priority list.

Guys, realize that with all of your requests, you're essentially asking Joe to do a shit ton of work for a site that you don't pay for and get premium content from already. Instead of whining about what the site needs so you're happier, be appreciative of the work that's been put into this site and the value it has. If you want a Reddit like page, go go Reddit. For now, this is the best damn Hokie Football site out there. End of story.

We are not allowed to make suggestions to improve the user experience? These suggestions somehow lead you to believe I don't appreciate the work put into the site?

They need to be realistic. I'm not sure what your background is in web design or computer programming, but the requests you've made are rather extravagant and would probably slow the site down as it has to go through each user viewing the site, check out their list of ignored posters, and then go through who knows how many posts to remove the ones that are posted by someone who you've said should be ignored. That's a lot of iterations and computations that will take some time. Now should you have experience in this or knowledge of how to do it efficiently without having to rewrite the entire site, I'm sure you could talk to Joe about it. Otherwise, as French suggested, just ignore it and scroll on. The experience on this site is what you make it. If someone posts something offensive, there's the downvote for that. If it's not offensive and just annoys you, let it go.

Without an extensive web design background it seems very reasonable as almost every other forum site has it. Thanks for explaining it to me.

Down votes do nothing to established members. I have no problem with opinions. It is the insulting and or offensive posts that I have an issue with.

Like you mentioned, it's a performance issue for me. It would add an unnecessary strain on the database that to me just isn't worth it.

When it is truly a suggestion to improve the user experience, I am sure it will be welcome. This appears to be a transparent attempt to shame those who you disagree with in a passive-aggressive manner, and that runs completely contrary to the spirit of open dialogue that makes this community special.

If you have suggestions, email them to staff. But, I am completely opposed to any functionality which makes threads boxy and more difficult to understand by the exclusion of comments, and therefore losing context.

Thank you for the forum.

My experience as a Hokie fan would be enhanced if I didn't have to deal with this week in and week out:

If I could give two turkey legs for bringing back the real men of genius commercials, I would. Those were so good.
