I liked it, not as much as Infinity War but it was good. Definitely some plot issues revolving around time travel that I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around still lol. Great emotional payoff at several points though.

The ending scene where Nick Fury is looking abroad from the deck, like he knew who Tony could be when he first approached him 11 years ago (technically 17 I guess) really got me.
Just an epic movie, Tony getting one last, "I am Iron Man" is going to become one of those quotes said for years.

Damn, I'm in the total opposite boat. Badass Thor at the end of Infinity War/Ragnarok was definitely my favorite. I thought his personal demise was just too soft for someone who successfully handled his mother and brother being killed, and his dad dying. His character just felt like a complete waste in this movie despite being one of the "core" Avengers.

Fat Thor was an interesting way to nerf him for this movie, to say the least. He was probably too powerful by the end of Infinity War for it to make sense to leave him full power. I do think the transition into letting Thor be funny was a good call in the MCU as a whole over his last several appearances, but it was a little annoying that in the big finale of the original Avengers storyline he was wearing a fat suit the entire time.

RE: Cap/Peggy. He could have fixed all of that in the timeline he stayed in. It wouldn't affect the main timeline shown in the movies. He probably did all that, lived a happy life, then after Peggy passed away, used left over Pym Particles and the suit to travel back to the main timeline and pass the torch.

I absolutely loved it, Infinity War was great, but this one I feel really tied everything up nicely. My only qualm is with Captain Marvel, I know it is supposed to mimic the comics in a sense but just feels like she wasn't as useful as she could be but I guess I would've also been upset if she just OP'd the whole movie and whooped Thanos' ass up and down.
As mentioned above Fat Thor is hilarious, Banner controlling the best of both Bruce and Hulk is great, The Ancient One finally realizing the end of the plot midway through the movie was great. Call me dark or whatever but some of the characters actually dying I think added more to the movie than a giant feel good bring everyone back ending.

I just watched it and this is a movie I could watch 5 times and not get tired of it. The big battle was great. I do agree with the pacing though...that whole scene at the beginning when Natasha and Cap were talking after 5 years had passed seemed unneeded, but maybe they did this because they knew she was going to die...
I really enjoyed the time travel aspect of it...and the fact that they had to reshoot all of those scenes was amazing. I can understand why they wanted to keep everything secret..

Separate timeline. In the timeline Thanos left, he left and never came back. In that timeline there was no snap. Both that Thanos and this Thanos were killed in our timeline. As an aside, this means in our timeline there are no infinity stones (or they've been reduced to atomic dust anyway).

he lived his life in the alternate timeline until he was old. Dr Hulk says "he blew past his time stamp" because he stayed. After Peggy dies (presumably) and he is now quite old then he used the Pym particles that traced him back through the Microverse to the portal that is his original timeline, the one we are watching. By marvel's rules of the timeline him staying would inherently mean that was a new timeline.

Except if he came back using the device, he would have appeared on the portal device they used. It's entirely possible that the timeline they were in was the same timeline he stayed in, just living in secret, allowing everything to happen the way it was meant to. The fact nothing else changed around them, suggests that Cap was always supposed to go back in time, meet up with Peggy in the 70s, and live to meet and transfer the shield and Cap America title to Falcon.
Even Professor Hulk was confused that he didn't come back via the portal, which says he didn't come back that way. All of the use of the device so far shows that things come back through it, not on a bench quite a distance from the device.

hmm.... good point. If true, then he just busted their whole plan. The idea of Tony's mobius is that it is keeping the timeline in tact while they travel back and ultimately end at the same destination they started from. What they took gets replaced so the timeline stays constant. Tony's demand that "He keeps what he has and brings back everything that is gone". If Cap stays he breaks that because he is altering the timeline before, during and after the loop. Maybe that will have ramifications later on in next Phase or more likely I am just thinking too much into it.

The whole returning stones in one big trip was a bad plot hole. Unless he returned the space stone last, how did he jaunt all over the galaxy and time to return them from three different periods on one trip? There was a reason they had three teams before.

They had three teams because they only had a certain number of uses. They couldn't all travel to each time to get the stones. With the snap undone, they had plenty of Pym particles to make as many trips as he needed to make.
EDIT: He also had Mjolnir with him to return it to the proper point in the timeline.

A: To me, CA's action in the end wasn't the fact he wanted to change anything, it's more like me has made a choice. He chose to go back to past and lived with the one he loved for the rest of his life. The time travel in this movie created an alternate reality. He lived a completely different life in that world. We don't know how exactly his life turned out, but I'd like to believe he still helped many others when they were needed in that world. Yes, there were two CA in that reality, it's just like what Hulk said, what happened in the past has already happened. If you go back to past, you simply created a new reality.

There is literally alternative versions being supported by key members of the Movie.
The writers support a same timeline version and Cap is secretly married to Peggy. The Russo brothers support that he was in an alternative reality and he jumped back in (using the watch/bracelet thing). Until Feige confirms one or the other, I think both are possible with some suspense of belief.
For same timeline, you gotta suspend belief that Cap remained in secret all the time and his identity was never revealed. For alternate timeline, you gotta suspend belief that he waited until he was old to jump back into this timeline and that he kept the time traveling materials and shield for his entire alternative life just to jump back. It seems he would've done this earlier in his alternative life (why wait until he's old).
I think Feige and Marvel intentionally gave out two explanations, but I don't know why. Perhaps its something they would do to keep "open" until they figure out how they want to play it out.

Yea, he could do that without the shield. In the Russo theory, if his sole purpose of jumping back into the main timeline to give the shield to Falcon, he could have done it at any point in his life. I am presuming that in the alternative timeline that he grows old with Peggy, he isn't being a super hero. But, I guess he could be doing Cap. Am. things in the 50s, 60s, 70s, up until he gets old, and then passes the shield on.

Also made a joke that "Back to the Future" and all other time travel movies are lies and time travel doesn't work like that. And you can't come in contact with yourself cause that will change everything etc. And then.... we see Cap vs Cap fight (loved it btw). It just seems like they contradicted themselves.

The timeline the heroes are in continues on past the snap. Then they return to take the stones and Thanos follows them. At the point everything from the timeline Thanos left is now a separate timeline than the one we are watching. So in that separate timeline, since Thanos never returns he never snaps and that universe in that timeline is safe. The timeline that we are observing though has already been snapped and is then snapped back.

I think he's stating that even at light speed it would take her 1000 years to reach earth. So they would have to be traveling at roughly 10000x the speed of light for a full month to reach earth. Best to just not think about it.

So, Spiderman turns to dust, the world moves on and five years pass. The remaining avengers do their thing and save the day, the people are unsnapped and they come back as they were... but five years in the future. Cool.
There is a battle, the good guys win (with a few sacrifices). Peter Parker returns to normal life in time for his next movie. But wait, 5 years went by. Isn't some of his class 5 years older. He reunites with his sidekick (forgot his name) at school and all (okay, maybe he was snapped too). But that brings up the question:
How do all those people reintegrate into a society that has advanced five years. People have had children, rebuilt infrastructure, there have been fundamental changes to government and society at large. Do they next movies take place beginning in 2024? Does the split timelines idea break the single continuity the films have all used?

Marvel is notorious recently for putting stuff in their trailers that never makes it into the movie. I bet that actual scene in the movie will be different. Absolutely loved it. I didn't have an issue with the pacing at all. 3 hours and change seemed to fly by.
My two gripes:
1) Nebula not returning. Ok she malfunctioned which caused her to not go back with War Machine. But then she was cognizant enough to move around the pod and try to send a distress signal to the others that Thanos knows. And then gets tractor beamed on to Sanctuary. Why? just push the button and go back to the original timeline. That is major flaw for me, but even so not ruining anything for me either.
2) Missing tie-ins. I would have loved to see the TV show characters get into the battle at the end. Fury arriving by quinjet with Agent Colson and the Shield team and the Defenders being brought in as well. I guess the Netflix Marvel war may have killed that chance but that would have been a hell of a payoff for fans who watched them all.

Didn't Ant Man say that they only had enough Pym Particles for each of them and exactly 2 trials (whoops, he meant 1 trial)? If so the how did both evil Nebula and Thanos and his army get there on two separate time jumps? There should be no more Pym Particles. Did I miss something?

Just saw it yesterday and, well that was pretty much the perfect way to wrap up that arc.
My thoughts -
1 - Fat Thor is the best Thor. It really actually makes him look like a Nordic God and not some chiseled husk of human perfection. I really, really have liked what they did with his storyline the last few years, and am really happy to see him apparently now absorbed full time into the (As)Guardians of the Galaxy story. (A)GotG3 (which has been confirmed) has now jumped to must-see status.
2 - Tony's end was perfect. Always had to go out the hero, and that was pretty much the only way he could.
3 - Cap got his dance with his girl. The fact he missed that dance in The First Avenger always made me a little sad, so to see that was a nice little cherry on top of the franchise.
4 - Falcon becoming the new Cap feels appropriate. I always thought it was going to be Bucky, but this one just seems better.
5 - The scene with all the women teaming up to help Capt Marvel at the end felt.... forced. Like, really forced. I know why they did it, because there is a push for women's empowerment in movies, which I really appreciate, but... Yeah in 5 years time we'll look back on that as a super cheesy moment in an otherwise great movie.
6 - For as much as she was hyped to be the savior, Capt Marvel being held out to the very end felt odd. I get that she could have wrecked Thanos from the start, but for supposedly being the torch bearer going forward, she really didn't play much a part at all in this one.
7 - Replacing 'in love with Quill' Gamora with 'who the f are you' Gamora going forward is a good call. Those 2 just don't work as well being in love as they do with him chasing a very annoyed her.
8 - With Loki taking the Tesseract for the Disney+ series, the multiverse has been introduced. Which, also opens the door for any killed character to come back, much like we saw with Gomora. So, once Robert Downey Jr, Scarlett Johanson and Chris Evans ever get that itch for more Marvel cash, I suspect we may see them reappear down the line. Especially now that Pym is back and they know how to time travel.
And now onto the next arc. Wonder who the next over arching bad guy will be?

That's a good point. There's also likely going to be the merging with the X-Men somehow, and definitely an attempt to rope Deadpool into the story. It'll be interesting to see where it all goes.
If anything, I'm really glad they were able to wrap this whole thing up as well as they did before super hero fatigue sets in. I'm not sure they'll be able to see the end of the next overall arc before people just get tired of the genre.

That's pretty much my feeling. The way they did it, and the way they forced it in was definitely one of those "see, aren't we progressive? Look at this scene, do you see it? Don't you see what we're doing? Girl power, yeah!"
If anything, it felt so forced it was almost insulting to women's empowerment. You want a girl power moment, look no further than what happened with Game of Thrones this weekend where the women were equal to if not more powerful then the men, and had some absolutely badass memorable moments. You want a girl power moment, have Captain Marvel single handedly kick Thanos' ass. Have each female super hero actually able to stand out as an ass kicking badass on her own without all needing to team up together to do anything. The fact they all teamed up to kick ass only to see Danvers smacked aside like a gnat when she got to Thanos when all the male superheros were able to pretty much stand out on their own was.... bad

Great movie. Didn't like it as much as IW, but IW was a modern marvel (ha) of a movie. To juggle that many characters and have the movie remain coherent and even enjoyable is amazing.
Endgame really pulled on the nostalgia heart string in a non-cheesy way. Got to spend a lot of time with all the OG characters. Some great gag. Chris Hemsworth is such a comedic talent and I'm glad that they changed Thor's personality to highlight that.
Will say though, man I disliked Captain Marvel .It felt cheap to have a character introduced just prior to the movie and have her be the one that essentially saves the universe. Felt like a stranger among a group of characters that we have spent ten years getting to know.
I think they did an OK with Thanos. I was team Thanos all the way, but obviously I know that they aren't gonna have him win. Having past Thanos be the villain was cool but also a bit weird. Overall I'd say they pulled him off well enough.
I agree that there were some plot holes, but that is pretty unavoidable in any movie like this.
Finally, I don't see myself really caring much about future Marvel movies other than Guardians of the Galaxy (please keep Thor with them that would be an amazing movie).

Just saw it last night (didn't get out until midnight). Couldn't see it opening weekend because the Mrs was working (RN @ the Med Center, graveyard shift) and this is another one of those things we've been doing together.
A few things: 1st) while it looked like the first snap from the Hulk seemed to have worked in reviving everyone, the explanation from Spidey to Stark about Dr. Strange telling him it's been 5 yrs was kinda confusing; 2nd) if Thor stole the Mjolnir from his former self, how was he able to fight off the Dark Elves? 3rd) loved the appearance of Pepper as Rescue; 4th) wow, an actual Disney film where people die & aren't brought back to life (Stark, Romanov, Thor's mum, etc); 5th) I thought the serum in Cap was supposed to essentially keep him [Rod Stewart's voice] "forever young"? 6th) loved the nod to the ladies of Marvel, but it did feel a bit forced; 7th) Captain Ms. Marvel (#shotsfired) is NOT the strongest character in the MCU, #sorrynotsorry #facts; 8th) Bucky was supposed to take up the shield & mantle before Falc. That's all I've got for now. Still tired. SPECTACULAR film.
Oh one more thing, Ant-Man was one of the most oblivious and annoying characters in this film. I mean c'mon, he's no Hank Pym, but he's got a dual degree in Electrical Engineering. You'd figure he'd be able to show some composure, awareness & ability to catch on quickly.

For those who were snapped into nothingness, there was no passage of time. It was like they closed their eyes when they dissolved, and opened them up and it was 5 years later. Dr. Strange was the only one aware that it was 5 years later because he had looked into the future to see all of the outcomes.

You're not thinking 4th Dimension-ally. At the end of the movie Cap took all the stones and the hammer back to the exact point at which they originally took them. So from the point of view in those timelines, they items never left.

I also think that would have been really cool to see, but I think Anthony Mackie is just a more charismatic actor than Sebastian Stan. Bucky in the MCU always seemed like a loner or Cap's sidekick, whereas Sam seems like someone who is willing to lead the next batch of Avengers if they decide to go that route.

Don't get me wrong. Makie is the real deal. And I know that Falc is supposed to take up the shield. I'm taking more in terms with actual comic story continuity. For one thing Bucky IS Steve's best friend. Another, Bucky was subjected to a version of super soldier serum. Notice that Falc wasn't. Bucky did not spend a lengthy time as Captain America. Thus it got passed on to Falc.
And I call BS on Ms. Marvel being the most powerful. Oh she's easily top 5, but from a more literal and specific perspective it's:
-Thanos with Infinity Gauntlet
-Thor w/ Mjolnir & Stormbreaker (damn I hope Beta Ray Bill shows up in Phase 4)
-Doc Strange & Hulk
-Scarlett Witch & Vision
-Ms. Marvel
Honestly, even Iron Man, Ant-Man+Wasp could take her down.

Cap did exactly what he always wanted too. He went to war and returned home to live his life. That's what's awesome about that ending. He never was looking to go so far into the feature. He wanted to live and die in his own time line and he finally got to do it when he returned the infinity stones.

My only expectation going in to see the movie (which I finally did last night, movie ended at 2:30am) was that I didn't know what to expect. I guess I was a little disappointed that the Guardians cast didn't get as much screen time (most were caught-up in the snap and didn't have a chance to really show up until the very end) and I had some hope that the Ravagers will play a role in things, but I guess I will have to wait for GotG3. As for the death scenes in the movie - I've never heard a more quieter theater (except for the sniffles) than when Stark and Potts had their final exchange.

I made the mistake of seeing it at 7pm on Friday, only option to be able to see it with the wife. Chock full of kids and teens. The scene between Tony and Potts at the end was full of laughter, it was ridiculous, and ruined it. Might be the last time I pay good money to see a movie like this in a theater

I did 10:30AM at the AMC Dolby showing today after seeing it in 3D on accident last week. It was quiet and awesome. This was definitely better than 3D and the Dolby experience was outstanding. The picture was amazing. 3D definitely was not as bad as I expected though. Silent in both showings.

So I just saw end game and they showed this trailer before the movie, confirming stark dies. Kinda a buzz kill. While you don't know how or why (given Spider-Man and Fury were shown, even after they vaped in the prior film) we were all sitting there waiting for something to happen to tony.

I liked it, not as much as Infinity War but it was good. Definitely some plot issues revolving around time travel that I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around still lol. Great emotional payoff at several points though.
I need to see it again because I was unable to control myself and went to the bar beforehand. I had to pee 4 times. But I do not think I missed anything too critical. I did not see how Ant Man reappears.

Saw it yesterday at 6pm. Here are some thoughts.
-See I'm leaning towards this one over infinity war. Because infinity war you knew anyone who got dusted was coming back. This one all deaths are permanent.
-I feel like infinity war was paced a little better, but also I never found myself bored in this one. At least not on the first watch.
-Cap vs cap was awesome, same with the hail hydra
-I loved Scott Lang in this
-Cap with Thor's hammer was amazing
-Fat Thor is wonderful
-I liked how they used valkyrie
-The moment you met tonys kid you knew he was dying because his life was the only one that improved post snap.
-don't know how I feel about cap being with Peggy. Like I get how that's all he ever wanted, but did he just chilled the fuck out when his country needed him post ww2? Like did he tell Peggy about Hydra? Did he keep Bucky from killing Tonys dad? I'm just saying it looks like cap just stayed to himself like an asshole. He had a lot of "future" knowledge that would have helped Peggy (the leader of shield).
Damn, I'm in the total opposite boat. Badass Thor at the end of Infinity War/Ragnarok was definitely my favorite. I thought his personal demise was just too soft for someone who successfully handled his mother and brother being killed, and his dad dying. His character just felt like a complete waste in this movie despite being one of the "core" Avengers.
I think the push to defeat thanos was what kept him going, but once he realized he failed he had nothing left to live for.
Yeah I get that, I just think it was a huge error in judgement to have one of the best/most fun Avengers be a complete dud in the biggest movie of the franchise.

He fits in so perfectly with them. Chris Hemsworth and Crish Pratt have great chemistry and I want to see a full movie of that.
Fat Thor was an interesting way to nerf him for this movie, to say the least. He was probably too powerful by the end of Infinity War for it to make sense to leave him full power. I do think the transition into letting Thor be funny was a good call in the MCU as a whole over his last several appearances, but it was a little annoying that in the big finale of the original Avengers storyline he was wearing a fat suit the entire time.

I loved the Fortnite scene. Stark calling him Lebowski. How did Cap handle Thor's hammer, how was that possible?

I thought he was giving the look because cap slightly moves the hammer which concerns him at the very moment.

RE: Cap/Peggy. He could have fixed all of that in the timeline he stayed in. It wouldn't affect the main timeline shown in the movies. He probably did all that, lived a happy life, then after Peggy passed away, used left over Pym Particles and the suit to travel back to the main timeline and pass the torch.
I absolutely loved it, Infinity War was great, but this one I feel really tied everything up nicely. My only qualm is with Captain Marvel, I know it is supposed to mimic the comics in a sense but just feels like she wasn't as useful as she could be but I guess I would've also been upset if she just OP'd the whole movie and whooped Thanos' ass up and down.
As mentioned above Fat Thor is hilarious, Banner controlling the best of both Bruce and Hulk is great, The Ancient One finally realizing the end of the plot midway through the movie was great. Call me dark or whatever but some of the characters actually dying I think added more to the movie than a giant feel good bring everyone back ending.

I just watched it and this is a movie I could watch 5 times and not get tired of it. The big battle was great. I do agree with the pacing though...that whole scene at the beginning when Natasha and Cap were talking after 5 years had passed seemed unneeded, but maybe they did this because they knew she was going to die...
I really enjoyed the time travel aspect of it...and the fact that they had to reshoot all of those scenes was amazing. I can understand why they wanted to keep everything secret..
The interesting thing is, did Cap correct the issues they caused when they went back in time? Or, is some of it the series they'll be making for Disney+?

Unless, in that final snap, Tony was also able to correct the issues with the timeline they created.

Remember Banner and The Ancient One's conversation. We're talking about different timelines. So:
Cap lived out his life with Agent Carter in another timeline, then jumped back to ours.
Separate timeline. They're making a Disney+ series about it. Link.
Separate timeline. In the timeline Thanos left, he left and never came back. In that timeline there was no snap. Both that Thanos and this Thanos were killed in our timeline. As an aside, this means in our timeline there are no infinity stones (or they've been reduced to atomic dust anyway).

But I don't think Cap jumped back to the main timeline, otherwise, he would have appeared in the portal at the end. He lived in the timeline in secret. It's the only way he could be on that bench.
I don't think that is correct.
he lived his life in the alternate timeline until he was old. Dr Hulk says "he blew past his time stamp" because he stayed. After Peggy dies (presumably) and he is now quite old then he used the Pym particles that traced him back through the Microverse to the portal that is his original timeline, the one we are watching. By marvel's rules of the timeline him staying would inherently mean that was a new timeline.
Except if he came back using the device, he would have appeared on the portal device they used. It's entirely possible that the timeline they were in was the same timeline he stayed in, just living in secret, allowing everything to happen the way it was meant to. The fact nothing else changed around them, suggests that Cap was always supposed to go back in time, meet up with Peggy in the 70s, and live to meet and transfer the shield and Cap America title to Falcon.
Even Professor Hulk was confused that he didn't come back via the portal, which says he didn't come back that way. All of the use of the device so far shows that things come back through it, not on a bench quite a distance from the device.
hmm.... good point. If true, then he just busted their whole plan. The idea of Tony's mobius is that it is keeping the timeline in tact while they travel back and ultimately end at the same destination they started from. What they took gets replaced so the timeline stays constant. Tony's demand that "He keeps what he has and brings back everything that is gone". If Cap stays he breaks that because he is altering the timeline before, during and after the loop. Maybe that will have ramifications later on in next Phase or more likely I am just thinking too much into it.
Not to mention, Tony brought Thor's Hammer back in time with him.
The whole returning stones in one big trip was a bad plot hole. Unless he returned the space stone last, how did he jaunt all over the galaxy and time to return them from three different periods on one trip? There was a reason they had three teams before.
They had three teams because they only had a certain number of uses. They couldn't all travel to each time to get the stones. With the snap undone, they had plenty of Pym particles to make as many trips as he needed to make.
EDIT: He also had Mjolnir with him to return it to the proper point in the timeline.

There is literally alternative versions being supported by key members of the Movie.
The writers support a same timeline version and Cap is secretly married to Peggy. The Russo brothers support that he was in an alternative reality and he jumped back in (using the watch/bracelet thing). Until Feige confirms one or the other, I think both are possible with some suspense of belief.
For same timeline, you gotta suspend belief that Cap remained in secret all the time and his identity was never revealed. For alternate timeline, you gotta suspend belief that he waited until he was old to jump back into this timeline and that he kept the time traveling materials and shield for his entire alternative life just to jump back. It seems he would've done this earlier in his alternative life (why wait until he's old).
I think Feige and Marvel intentionally gave out two explanations, but I don't know why. Perhaps its something they would do to keep "open" until they figure out how they want to play it out.
I imagine he waited until he was old because as he said he wanted to live a life. See Peggy and possibly children/grandchildren grow up. His superhero serum should prolong his aging so that's gotta be quite some time.
Yea, he could do that without the shield. In the Russo theory, if his sole purpose of jumping back into the main timeline to give the shield to Falcon, he could have done it at any point in his life. I am presuming that in the alternative timeline that he grows old with Peggy, he isn't being a super hero. But, I guess he could be doing Cap. Am. things in the 50s, 60s, 70s, up until he gets old, and then passes the shield on.
Or he originally intended to have a dance and spend some time with peggy but not his entire life, but ends up staying and following Tony's advice afterall. Also since he is time jumping back to nearly the exact moment he left taking the shield doesn't matter.
In both timelines you have to assume he was married and never revealed his identity
So in the no-Thanos timeline, black widow and vision are still alive. (I guess vision may or may not have been created)

It's more around since the second gauntlet was built by Stark, he probably knew a bypass to his own tech to release the stones from the Stark gauntlet to the iron man suit.
Why not because the Iron Man gauntlet was jerry-rigged and not purpose made for the stones? It already defies belief that he was able to create the Iron Man gauntlet in the first place instead of having to go to a neutron star and get a giant blacksmith dwarf to custom make it.

So I got a timeline question.
Thanos time traveled from 2014 to 2024 and then he got dusted. So did the snap happened in infinity war? Cause Thanos never made it back to the original timeline.
Above your pay grade, just enjoy the movie hahah. Good question, no answer cause they really brushed off the time travel in this to "lol wait why does everyone think time travel is linear?"
Cause they made a huge deal about it throughout the movie. Ancient One said you can't change the timeline, cause if you do then there are all of these complications. Also made a joke that "Back to the Future" and all other time travel movies are lies and time travel doesn't work like that. And you can't come in contact with yourself cause that will change everything etc. And then.... we see Cap vs Cap fight (loved it btw). It just seems like they contradicted themselves.
I loved the movie, don't get me wrong. But Marvel is usually good about tying up all of the loose ends - didn't seem like that happened with time travel - or maybe I am just missing something
I think it just chalks up to what happens with every time travel situation in fiction; just enjoy it and don't think about it too much. The more you pull the string, the more it falls apart.
Yes the snap still happened.
The timeline the heroes are in continues on past the snap. Then they return to take the stones and Thanos follows them. At the point everything from the timeline Thanos left is now a separate timeline than the one we are watching. So in that separate timeline, since Thanos never returns he never snaps and that universe in that timeline is safe. The timeline that we are observing though has already been snapped and is then snapped back.
This. Banner's conversation with the Ancient one is the key here and Cap returning the Infinity Stones basically seals everything AFAIK.
That was great. I think the action sequences in Infinity War are a little better, but the emotional impact in Endgame is tops.

I think he's stating that even at light speed it would take her 1000 years to reach earth. So they would have to be traveling at roughly 10000x the speed of light for a full month to reach earth. Best to just not think about it.

So, Spiderman turns to dust, the world moves on and five years pass. The remaining avengers do their thing and save the day, the people are unsnapped and they come back as they were... but five years in the future. Cool.
There is a battle, the good guys win (with a few sacrifices). Peter Parker returns to normal life in time for his next movie. But wait, 5 years went by. Isn't some of his class 5 years older. He reunites with his sidekick (forgot his name) at school and all (okay, maybe he was snapped too). But that brings up the question:
How do all those people reintegrate into a society that has advanced five years. People have had children, rebuilt infrastructure, there have been fundamental changes to government and society at large. Do they next movies take place beginning in 2024? Does the split timelines idea break the single continuity the films have all used?
I'm guessing since Morgan is still alive the people who were snapped just re-enter society where they left off. The other films still happened. A reintegration film would be very interesting, maybe they talk about it in the next Spider-Man movie.
Remember Scott talking about how his five years was five hours? I think the hopping in between timelines correlates to that in a sense that all those who were snapped, might've been in a purgatory like state for a few minutes.

HomecomingFar From Home trailer. Marvel is notorious recently for putting stuff in their trailers that never makes it into the movie. I bet that actual scene in the movie will be different. They couldn't have Fury talking about Tony's funeral in trailer.My initial reaction was that Far From Home would take place after Homecoming and before Infinity War because of that interaction and he is also not wearing the Iron Spider suit.
So, I guess all of them had to be snapped - it would just be strange that every key member in Peter's circle was snapped.

That's was incredible. As someone who thought Infiniti War was actually a bit meh, this outstripped the other Avenger specific films by a mile. Ant man was deployed perfectly. Just wish we had a bit more Hulk smashing at the end....
Yeah, but Hulk's "smashing" in the original Avengers timeline had me dying.
Absolutely loved it. I didn't have an issue with the pacing at all. 3 hours and change seemed to fly by.
My two gripes:
1) Nebula not returning. Ok she malfunctioned which caused her to not go back with War Machine. But then she was cognizant enough to move around the pod and try to send a distress signal to the others that Thanos knows. And then gets tractor beamed on to Sanctuary. Why? just push the button and go back to the original timeline. That is major flaw for me, but even so not ruining anything for me either.
2) Missing tie-ins. I would have loved to see the TV show characters get into the battle at the end. Fury arriving by quinjet with Agent Colson and the Shield team and the Defenders being brought in as well. I guess the Netflix Marvel war may have killed that chance but that would have been a hell of a payoff for fans who watched them all.

Didn't Ant Man say that they only had enough Pym Particles for each of them and exactly 2 trials (whoops, he meant 1 trial)? If so the how did both evil Nebula and Thanos and his army get there on two separate time jumps? There should be no more Pym Particles. Did I miss something?
EDIT: apparently they reverse engineered Pym Particles, per Russo's:
There were no more particles in 2024, but lots in 2014. You need the particle for the traveler. But it is a large plot hole.
That would mean that Thanos or someone traveled to earth in their timeline to obtain more Pym Particles, which... ok sure, I can believe that. But that would have been a really cool sequence to show.
Cap did take 4 vials of it from Pym's lab in 1970 so they had a full supply when they returned to 2024.
Thanos needs it in 2014. Nebula having it in 2024 doesn't bring him through the microverse

I think a lot of people wanted a Michael Pena (Luis) recap of what has gone on before. His recap's/stories have been some of the best scenes in the Ant Man franchise.
Yeah I was disappointed Scott didn't go immediately to Luis after the five year jump and eat a three minute long recap of infinity war and everything after. Would have been a cheap way to fill the audience in but damn would it have been hilarious
Luis must have been snapped as well, after all his van was in lockup.

Just saw it yesterday and, well that was pretty much the perfect way to wrap up that arc.
My thoughts -
1 - Fat Thor is the best Thor. It really actually makes him look like a Nordic God and not some chiseled husk of human perfection. I really, really have liked what they did with his storyline the last few years, and am really happy to see him apparently now absorbed full time into the (As)Guardians of the Galaxy story. (A)GotG3 (which has been confirmed) has now jumped to must-see status.
2 - Tony's end was perfect. Always had to go out the hero, and that was pretty much the only way he could.
3 - Cap got his dance with his girl. The fact he missed that dance in The First Avenger always made me a little sad, so to see that was a nice little cherry on top of the franchise.
4 - Falcon becoming the new Cap feels appropriate. I always thought it was going to be Bucky, but this one just seems better.
5 - The scene with all the women teaming up to help Capt Marvel at the end felt.... forced. Like, really forced. I know why they did it, because there is a push for women's empowerment in movies, which I really appreciate, but... Yeah in 5 years time we'll look back on that as a super cheesy moment in an otherwise great movie.
6 - For as much as she was hyped to be the savior, Capt Marvel being held out to the very end felt odd. I get that she could have wrecked Thanos from the start, but for supposedly being the torch bearer going forward, she really didn't play much a part at all in this one.
7 - Replacing 'in love with Quill' Gamora with 'who the f are you' Gamora going forward is a good call. Those 2 just don't work as well being in love as they do with him chasing a very annoyed her.
8 - With Loki taking the Tesseract for the Disney+ series, the multiverse has been introduced. Which, also opens the door for any killed character to come back, much like we saw with Gomora. So, once Robert Downey Jr, Scarlett Johanson and Chris Evans ever get that itch for more Marvel cash, I suspect we may see them reappear down the line. Especially now that Pym is back and they know how to time travel.
And now onto the next arc. Wonder who the next over arching bad guy will be?
Given that the MCU can now take a better shot at the Fantastic Four franchise, I wouldn't be surprised at all if Galactus ends up being the next "big bad".
That's a good point. There's also likely going to be the merging with the X-Men somehow, and definitely an attempt to rope Deadpool into the story. It'll be interesting to see where it all goes.
If anything, I'm really glad they were able to wrap this whole thing up as well as they did before super hero fatigue sets in. I'm not sure they'll be able to see the end of the next overall arc before people just get tired of the genre.

I didn't particularly groan, but I did say "Of course" out loud. The cheesiest moment of the movie, and maybe the entire Infinity Saga.
I said the exact same "Of course" as well. Let me be very clear, I think there need to be more of these moments in movies in general and I am glad that we are at a point where this is happening. It needs to continue to happen. But as Alum said, it shouldn't be such a "HEY EVERYONE! PEOPLE!! LOOK!!! SEE?!?!? DO YOU SEE!?!!" moment
That's pretty much my feeling. The way they did it, and the way they forced it in was definitely one of those "see, aren't we progressive? Look at this scene, do you see it? Don't you see what we're doing? Girl power, yeah!"
If anything, it felt so forced it was almost insulting to women's empowerment. You want a girl power moment, look no further than what happened with Game of Thrones this weekend where the women were equal to if not more powerful then the men, and had some absolutely badass memorable moments. You want a girl power moment, have Captain Marvel single handedly kick Thanos' ass. Have each female super hero actually able to stand out as an ass kicking badass on her own without all needing to team up together to do anything. The fact they all teamed up to kick ass only to see Danvers smacked aside like a gnat when she got to Thanos when all the male superheros were able to pretty much stand out on their own was.... bad
Scarlet Witch was beating the crap out of Thanos. Didn't really need Danvers, honestly...
and that was a great moment. They needed more of that, and less of.... well what they actually did
Her fight with Thanos was sick. She was kicking his ass and I was rooting hard for her. And it completely fit in the situation. That's what we need more of.
I really wanted Professor Hulk to get his hands on Thanos, but in the 5 years since they lost fought, I dont know if Hulk had been "training" for that day. Also Captain America was whipping up on Thanos with Mjolinir(sp)...
To be fair, Thanos had the stones when fighting Carol. What I would have liked to maybe seen is her being able to pull the Gauntlet off of him and Tony and is able to get it.
I really think there don't need to be more of those contrived moments lol. Having it be so forced is tough to watch. Also most insulting. Alternatively, just make good movies with female lead characters. Remember Annihilation? Literally a full cast of women and it was a fucking great movie. And they just advertised it as a movie. Weirdly, no one talked about that movie much.

So now that they are gone for good on the current timeline, it seems like it sets up for Galactus well.
I completely missed this part of that conversation in the movie theater. To be fair, I was aout 20 ft from an IMAX screen and had to turn my head to watch parts of the movie (and I was a 32 oz margarita in at that point...).

They did the same thing in infinity war and it's just pandering garbage. There were plenty of scenes of women authentically being awesome, they really didn't need to slap us in the face with it some more.
Great movie. Didn't like it as much as IW, but IW was a modern marvel (ha) of a movie. To juggle that many characters and have the movie remain coherent and even enjoyable is amazing.
Endgame really pulled on the nostalgia heart string in a non-cheesy way. Got to spend a lot of time with all the OG characters. Some great gag. Chris Hemsworth is such a comedic talent and I'm glad that they changed Thor's personality to highlight that.
Will say though, man I disliked Captain Marvel .It felt cheap to have a character introduced just prior to the movie and have her be the one that essentially saves the universe. Felt like a stranger among a group of characters that we have spent ten years getting to know.
I think they did an OK with Thanos. I was team Thanos all the way, but obviously I know that they aren't gonna have him win. Having past Thanos be the villain was cool but also a bit weird. Overall I'd say they pulled him off well enough.
I agree that there were some plot holes, but that is pretty unavoidable in any movie like this.
Finally, I don't see myself really caring much about future Marvel movies other than Guardians of the Galaxy (please keep Thor with them that would be an amazing movie).

Just saw it last night (didn't get out until midnight). Couldn't see it opening weekend because the Mrs was working (RN @ the Med Center, graveyard shift) and this is another one of those things we've been doing together.
A few things: 1st) while it looked like the first snap from the Hulk seemed to have worked in reviving everyone, the explanation from Spidey to Stark about Dr. Strange telling him it's been 5 yrs was kinda confusing; 2nd) if Thor stole the Mjolnir from his former self, how was he able to fight off the Dark Elves? 3rd) loved the appearance of Pepper as Rescue; 4th) wow, an actual Disney film where people die & aren't brought back to life (Stark, Romanov, Thor's mum, etc); 5th) I thought the serum in Cap was supposed to essentially keep him [Rod Stewart's voice] "forever young"? 6th) loved the nod to the ladies of Marvel, but it did feel a bit forced; 7th)
CaptainMs. Marvel (#shotsfired) is NOT the strongest character in the MCU, #sorrynotsorry #facts; 8th) Bucky was supposed to take up the shield & mantle before Falc. That's all I've got for now. I mean c'mon, he's no Hank Pym, but he's got a dual degree in Electrical Engineering. You'd figure he'd be able to show some composure, awareness & ability to catch on quickly.
I think I can answer some of this:
For those who were snapped into nothingness, there was no passage of time. It was like they closed their eyes when they dissolved, and opened them up and it was 5 years later. Dr. Strange was the only one aware that it was 5 years later because he had looked into the future to see all of the outcomes.
You're not thinking 4th Dimension-ally. At the end of the movie Cap took all the stones and the hammer back to the exact point at which they originally took them. So from the point of view in those timelines, they items never left.

Kevin Feige says otherwise, although this could have changed once Thor got Stormbreaker.
I also think that would have been really cool to see, but I think Anthony Mackie is just a more charismatic actor than Sebastian Stan. Bucky in the MCU always seemed like a loner or Cap's sidekick, whereas Sam seems like someone who is willing to lead the next batch of Avengers if they decide to go that route.
Don't get me wrong. Makie is the real deal. And I know that Falc is supposed to take up the shield. I'm taking more in terms with actual comic story continuity. For one thing Bucky IS Steve's best friend. Another, Bucky was subjected to a version of super soldier serum. Notice that Falc wasn't. Bucky did not spend a lengthy time as Captain America. Thus it got passed on to Falc.
And I call BS on Ms. Marvel being the most powerful. Oh she's easily top 5, but from a more literal and specific perspective it's:
-Thanos with Infinity Gauntlet
-Thor w/ Mjolnir & Stormbreaker (damn I hope Beta Ray Bill shows up in Phase 4)
-Doc Strange & Hulk
-Scarlett Witch & Vision
-Ms. Marvel

Absolutely loved everything about it except the female empowerment scene. Felt forced and very cringe worthy.
Cap did exactly what he always wanted too. He went to war and returned home to live his life. That's what's awesome about that ending. He never was looking to go so far into the feature. He wanted to live and die in his own time line and he finally got to do it when he returned the infinity stones.
So glad I can finally click on here and read everyone's reactions! On a side note, I absolutely cried like a baby during Black Widow and Hawkeyes scene and when Peter and Tony saw each other again.
The Chrises Hemsworth and Evans said they each cried, like, 6 times during the movie. And whaddya know, I also cried 6 times
When Tony Stark's daughter said she wanted cheeseburgers, that almost made me cry (Throwback to the original Ironman movie)
My only expectation going in to see the movie (which I finally did last night, movie ended at 2:30am) was that I didn't know what to expect. I guess I was a little disappointed that the Guardians cast didn't get as much screen time (most were caught-up in the snap and didn't have a chance to really show up until the very end) and I had some hope that the Ravagers will play a role in things, but I guess I will have to wait for GotG3. As for the death scenes in the movie - I've never heard a more quieter theater (except for the sniffles) than when Stark and Potts had their final exchange.
I made the mistake of seeing it at 7pm on Friday, only option to be able to see it with the wife. Chock full of kids and teens. The scene between Tony and Potts at the end was full of laughter, it was ridiculous, and ruined it. Might be the last time I pay good money to see a movie like this in a theater

I definitely did not have a problem with teens at the showing. 11PM start + premium IMAX cost probably drove that demographic completely out of contention.
I did 10:30AM at the AMC Dolby showing today after seeing it in 3D on accident last week. It was quiet and awesome. This was definitely better than 3D and the Dolby experience was outstanding. The picture was amazing. 3D definitely was not as bad as I expected though. Silent in both showings.

So I just saw end game and they showed this trailer before the movie, confirming stark dies. Kinda a buzz kill. While you don't know how or why (given Spider-Man and Fury were shown, even after they vaped in the prior film) we were all sitting there waiting for something to happen to tony.
Not sure who decides on trailers, but that as crap.
