Derrick Anderson, class of '06 and 2005 Homecoming King was featured in a 60 Minutes episode in 2017 for his role as a Green Beret Captain in a 2014 friendly fire incident in the war in Afghanistan.
Derrick and I were in the same fraternity pledge class. The guy is as genuine as they come and he just graduated Georgetown Law on May 20th. Huge thank you to him and all of our service men and women for the sacrifices they make for us all.
For Memorial Day Weekend, 60 Minutes re-aired the episode on Sunday.

I just finished watching the story...for my fellow servicemembers out there..since the B1 can't see the infrared strobes...why can't teams on the ground just pop smoke?
Still haven't figured out why Capt Anderson had to fall on the sword on this one...there was blame to go all the way around, the fact that the Air Force pretty much said skirted any blame here is bullcrap...it would be interesting to hear the radio traffic between the soldiers on the ground and the AF crew...
that's just the way it rolls sometimes. A lot of times it's BS and the younger officers take the brunt for whatever reason. A buddy of mine was the company cdr for the Niger incident. He was home on paternity leave at the time of the incident and was still put on the blame line and basically forced out.
Read about that story...very tragic...brought back memories of Fallujah the way they dismembered his body..
