Smarthmouth in Norfolk is celebrating their 1 year anniversary and what a great year this has been for the upstart brewery. Their Imperial IPA, The Notch 9 received a Great American Beer Festival Bronze medal in that category for 2013. They gonna pour a lot of those for me, since Ill need to be sauced up before watching the Miami game. Cheers!

Tried Smartmouth at the beer festival in Norfolk earlier this year. I'd say it was good, but pretty sure I tried it near the end of the day since I met someone who worked for them and told my group to try it, but I don't remember much from it.
Also, since Basketball season starts Saturday and we have volleyball as well (yay triple header), I hope I get to see the second half at least and hopefully its still worth watching.
not all smartmouth beers are great. i'm not saying they are amazing, but for a brewery that is only 1 yr, they are pretty strong out the gate. the notch 9, the bandwagon pale ale and holiday helper are their beers i like best. an imperial black rye ipa debuts this week, that's my wheelhouse for beers.
I just wish I had tried it at the beginning of the festival as opposed to near the end. I definitely consumed my moneys worth that day. Had fun though and definitely makes me want to do the Blacksburg Brew Do and Craft Beer fest around here.

What a great night for football! What I am going to do for it you may ask (no one is). Well tonight I am celebrating the Festa di San Martino, or St Martins Day for you non-Italalians. The patron Saint of Wine. The wife and I are heading to our favorite restaurant for a 5 course meal paired with wine from Travaglini Winery and hosted by Cinzia Travaglini.
