Weekly Weather Report - Biggest Game of the Season

Well, talk about building this game up... But seriously our boys have to be prepared to play this week, this is a HUGE game on so many different levels and if we can come out with a win it will completely erase the last two losses and the fan base will be feeling good again! (aside from that I'd really like to seem winston vs hokie D). Fact of the matter is this game is HUGE. Its at Miami (which i still think is complete and total BS) and its a true rivalry that has been reinvigorated since Al Golden has taken over (gotta hand it to him I think he's one hell of a coach). Our boys have to come to play!!!

ALSO: women's soccer plays UVA in the ACC - semi's down in North Carolina (which my roommate and I will be watching as we are visiting a friend of his at UNC) its another top 5 matchup for the hokies, and if they win this one you have to think they have a serious shot at making some noise in the NCAA's (I think they already have that chance but man if they prove they can win these games they have a legitimate shot at winning it) anywho wish the ladies some luck Friday night at 5:30 and if you're in the area of Cary NC where ACCs are held you should definitely come to check it out.

BACK TO FOOTBALL/WEATHER:

Its a rainy day in Blacksburg, I know, its pretty terrible and dreary but I have good news!!!! (aside from the fact that the powdered wigs are getting soaked up north).

A huge High pressure system is coming in pushing out all of the bad weather from today and these quick moving fronts should move out pretty quickly. This high pressure system (since we'll be on the eastern side) will push some winds onto us and give us some cooler air but with it should bring some clear skies. My point here is that Miami is typically pretty hot/humid...and i mean really humid. So the fact that some cool crisp air (for their standards) will be flowing in should spell out yet another weekend of beautiful weather for the weekend. This is awesome news (as much as I think a little rain would play out in our advantage). The rain from this week should also dry out and clear out by the time the game kicks off. So all and all the game will be played out on the field, as far as winds go offshore winds look a little stronger than the lands onshore so there is a small potential of some 10 MPH gusts, however I wouldn't get my hopes up. should be a beautiful day for football is basically the point I'm trying to get across here. Now after looking at the temperature readings I'm still getting some absurdly high numbers for our standards, with highs in the 80s and a low of 65 at night, so if you plan on going to the game short sleeves should suffice. This game is gonna be perfect football weather and I expect kickoff temperatures to be in the mid 70s and drop steadily during the game.

How it all plays out on the field:

I still dont understand Miami, they're talented, clearly. But they turn the ball over more than we do, seriously...and STILL find ways to win. If we want to win this game Logan CANNOT I repeat CANNOT turn the ball over, hes gotta be safer. Our defense has to go out and do its thing, if Miami keeps playing the way they do they're gonna turn the ball over and we have to be ready to capitalize. That's the key to this game, which team can capitalize on the turnovers, and score points off of other team's mistakes. Will we finally see a pick 6 and some more beamer ball?! Possibly, if there's a game to do it, this is the one, Stephen Morris is a lot like LT. Makes some incredible throws from time to time, but cannot limit his mistakes at other times. So whichever Quarterback is safer with the ball will go a long way to determine the winner of this game in my opinion. I would like to see some more I formation ground and pound, but had a nice conversation with a guy about how this isn't possible with our current personnel. He said the reason we run the read option so much is because our players were prepared for it for a whole year and its been kind of difficult to just ditch it within a season, that coupled with the fact that Loeffler (whether he claims it or not) is under intense scrutiny for the fan base to get things rolling has to put some kind of offense together that works. Expect to see more ground and pound PA style offense down the road. As far as the deep game, the reason we dont use it much is because again we dont have a consistent deep threat that can make the catches, I mean knowles is a surefire bet to drop one every once in a while and that's not good. Not trying to bash the players right now but I totally understand why Loeffler is doing what he's doing, the offense has much more form and much more identity and reason than it used to and you have to take the silver lining here.

Final statement

This game is gonna be gorgeous, those of you close to Miami that pay attention to this site (I assume you are a hokie fan if you're reading this) go to the game, its Miami...tickets are gonna be available... and the weather is going to be INCREDIBLE! Enjoy the game twice as much for me, I'll be cheering my head off at UNC and being rowdy and showing them how crazy fans really work!

Miami - 20
Kickoff Temp - 70
High - 80
Low - 65
Wind - 5 MPH gusts
Precip - Not a chance

GO HOKIES!!!!!!!

Redemption time for Women's Soccer. Time to end their undefeated season.
Also, weather can be weather, I'll be indoors all day Saturday. Basketball starts Saturday and if the preseason practices have shown anything, the women's team will be a lot more entertaining than the men's and should post a decent record as long as they show up. On the other hand, JJ might have an aneurysm by the end of the year.

OH MY GOD THOSE SOCCER GIRLS ARE GIGANTIC. LOOK AT HOW SMALL THE SOCCER BALLS LOOK.

It's just a trick of the lighting.

This is going to be great for the ACC.

ok, I assumed the weather in Miami would be pretty much perfect, but let's get to the important question...are we getting snow in northern VA next week?

"We were at the pinnacle, and we did it for years," Foster says. He pauses, nods, takes a deep breath. "And I did it with the best guy in the business."

I've been wondering the same thing for SWVA. I would love to see it snow but not stick.
At least not yet anyways. :)

@AMB4VT

We got a little snow in State College today. Just a few flurries.

Its currently 80 here in Miami. Forecast for Saturday night has it at 70's with a high chance of Candy Canes once HokieNation passes through.

"I'm high on Juice and ready to stick it in!" Whit Babcock

ahhhhh snow...haha so much can go into a snow forecast and unfortunately we haven't quite gotten into that stuff yet (we save it for the winter) I know enough of it to fudge it a little, if we do see anything in the week its going to be pretty insignificant according to most of the models, however going into next weekend you could see temperatures drop on the surface and a large low pressure system/cold front coming in = quite the potential for some sort of freezing precip (its gonna be really close though surface lows are around 30 of course this is 9-10 days ahead which generally models struggle to predict) moving on however upper air profiles are showing some cold temperatures for around that time too meaning there will probably be some snow with little accumulation (if the model is correct) I would not count on to much sticking, however I will be keeping an eye on this

I'm just not seeing to much evidence for snow during the next week, we may get some flurries but nothing significant so if you're hoping and praying to get out of a test or something I wouldn't hold my breath

Taylor, looking desperately throws it deep..HAS A MAN OPEN DANNY COALE WITH A CATCH ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FIVE!!!!....hes still open

quick note!

I did just do a little more investigating, theres a HUGE cold snap coming in for the valley mid-late next week, any precip we do see could freeze back over, expect temperatures to reach the 20s next wed-thursday
