I'll be attending the media availability this Friday and am searching for a couple good questions from this community to ask.
As of right now (Wednesday afternoon), the docket is "Coach Fuente and selected others". Last season, the other appearances usually were from a couple position coaches and a few players. As soon as I have a confirmed list of those additional people, I'll update this thread.
But for now, throw some questions for Fuente out there. And if you have more broad questions for position coaches or players, feel free to include those until I have an updated list from Pete.

Everyone has heard how the locker-room attitude has progressed from last year...how have the Xs & Os?
Edit: or rather "has shown marked improvement...has the on-field product reflected that?"
Have you rethought your position on cake and pie and how that might be negatively effecting the team?
Affecting or effecting? I always have a hard time with this one
Affecting. To affect is to have an impact on. To effect is to put into play.
You effect policy changes to affect outcomes.
(Cue even bigger granmar nerd correcting me in 3, 2, 1...)
*grammar
Me fireman me type word fancy screen typewriter.
I believe effect is the noun and affect is the verb.
But I could be wrong
Goes back to lurking
almost always true, but there is a less common usage of effect that is a verb:

What does Fuente need from the Virginia Tech community to make the Hokies a perennial power in the ACC and all of college football? To be consistently ranked in the top 10 and in the conversation for the playoffs?
More money!
Maybe that would be his answer, but I'd like to hear him say it. Maybe it is something else entirely. Plus, if it is money, let's hear the purpose - where would money, which is currently unavailable, be directed? There are always multiple solutions to problems.
A wealthy, wealthy donor has just donated a billion dollars to VT's athletic department, what are the first three things (staff, facilities, technology, travel budget, etc) you ask Whit for?
Open to rephrasing this question any way necessary, but I'd like to understand what Fuente thinks Virginia Tech football wants/needs that it doesn't have/can't afford right now.
Do you get bud's replacement on board before the season in a recruiting position or do you push that off to the end of the season and try to grab someone off the carousel?
That's a good one. This is probably the most pertinent question surrounding the program right now.
I might ask it like this: "How will you handle Foster's announced retirement during the season, so he isn't in effect reduced to lame-duck status both within the locker room and on the recruiting trail."
Foster announcing his retirement before the season definitely poses some challenges. How Fuente handles the five-month-long transition from Foster to the next defensive coordinator will tell us a lot about his ability to navigate a program.
Yes please.
Which young players on the team are emerging as the next group of locker room leaders?
I second this question
Are you in talks with a high profile DC candidate from a top school? If not, what G5 team do you plan on coaching next year? /ssssss
How are you going to handle the DC position and how is it CURRENTLY effecting recruiting for this year???
Question: we love Bud Foster, make him stay. End of question.
What are his biggest lessons learned moving from a G5 program to a bigtime P5 program? Where does he think he's improved as a coach? Where does he need to get better?
What improvements are you seeing on Offense and what improvements are you seeing on Defense?
What is one thing that you feel we need to get better at on the field and what is one thing that you feel excited about on the field with this team?
Is the most almost-arrested you've ever been really a simple speeding ticket?
Since most competent defenses figure out your offense after one half of play, do you think it's possible to open up the second half of spring practices for fans to see?
That was pure snark.
But damn.
What true freshmen will see time beyond the 4 games that they can play before losing their redshirt?
In other words, which freshmen won't redshirt this season?
I'm going to guess Robinson, Bowick and King on offense and Kendricks and Walker on defense. Dark horse would be an O-lineman, given the info provided by LAhokie regarding the fierce competition at RG.
What's in the box!?!...ahh what's in the f&$king box??!!...and as a follow up how are Quincey Patterson's accuracy concerns developing after the spring and summer practices?
What are some specific things you're seeing on the practice field right now that weren't happening last season that suggest this team is different than what we saw in 2018?
1) What team do you want to beat the most this season?
2) Which team do you want to lose to least this season?
Truly or White Claw?
I'd hope he answers: "No"
If he answers anything other than White Claw, that explains all of the recruiting problems.
Four verticals or wheel route, inquiring minds want to know.

Does it matter? It's third down and Hazelton is B
Inquiring minds want to know
Then who's X? Turner, Ellis, Turner, or Ellis?
Wheel route was way too easy in Madden. If you had a tall WR at B, you could chuck it up to them and get 40 yards 50% of the time. The tight end was almost always open across the middle.
I found my TE was always open on the 4 Verts for 40 yards as long as I ran the ball twice before throwing.
Keene (A Button) would be wide open over the middle, 4-Verts every time!
If you could build a simpsons episode based on 5 non family characters, who would they be?
Just watch 22 short stories about Springfield. Classic.
Troy McClure is cast to play Krusty in an upcoming behind-the-scenes tell-all documentary of the Krusty the Clown show, but Sideshow Bob hires Lionel Hutz to sue to halt production. Mr. Burns buys the production company and shuts it down out of spite when he learns they were the ones to cancel the Our Gang Comedies show back in 1938.
And somehow they work the Sea Captain in
What's contributing to what is going to be the lowest recruiting class ranking in a few decades for the Hokies for the class of 2020? There are only 2 other Power 5 teams ranked lower than Virginia Tech (Rutgers, Illinois) - what messages are being sent to recruits about Virginia Tech that we are having to battle against?
Who cut your hair?
Will you consider bringing back "Stick It In"?
