Y'know, practice times have a set length according to NCAA regulations, and the big brains over in Charlottesville thought that this the best use of 30 of those precious minutes.
I support their decision and hope they devote an entire hour of each practice to belly-crawling the whole season.
I support this
Must be conditioning from their multiple years spent as bottom feeders...
does this really surprise any of us though
Why is there a referee?????
I know. Like, he has to be just as confused as the "players."
"I got suited up and grabbed my whistle for this?!"
$50 is $50, though.
I'm sure they paid him in Cavalier value pak game bundles, including that free hot dog...
Shut the thread down. Winner, winner, chicken dinner.
*checks the fine print on what is Tweetable to recruits
**realizes I've never had twitter to begin with
To be fair, this is good practice for when they don't want to roll out of bed on annual rivalry week.
Honestly I bet that is hard as shit though
Actually it's hard things together.
They should drop the plates on their Beat Tech paver when they're done. Maybe that'll get them over the hump this time around.
I'm not a Division I football coach, or any other type of coach. But typically in sports you want 3 things in training.
1) technique improvement
2) Strength training for your sport
3) cross training so you don't get injuries from over development from #2
A fourth could be team building, but I did individual sports so I don't care about other people.
I don't see this as any of those. They are carrying the weight on one side which looks to be their dominate side. This isn't some football move. This isn't some non-football muscle strengthening. So while it's probably difficult, it doesnt strike me as useful when there are a limit number of hours you can practice.
I honestly don't know what you are talking about, it's extremely useful. UVA spends most of their games out of breath on the ground.
Even finished the last game of last year just this way!
So they went full Matt Nagy?
Practicing the vitals after their inability to drop to the ground and recover 2 fumbles that cost them a 15th straight loss...
Pretty sure this was the inspiration for that drill

Obviously it is practice for the post game for Nov 29 after we have asserted our dominance yet again and Bud like Frank goes out with a win in Lane North.
Doing hard things together?
Is that what they call the Mormon shuffle? Bronco Mendenhall thinks outside the box-maybe those were the players that weren't ACC-caliber
That's one way to get them to stop focusing on their outfits. Bronco may have figured out the only way they can be decent is make sure they don't buy into the general student body culture.
It's just so bizarre. I've rolled and crawled on the ground, dragged weights, ran up hills and dams and all kinds of stuff during football practices, but moving like a beached whale dragging a weight through unmowed grass is an interesting method for a Division 1 level team.
Well, they certainly made it look hard, anyway. Literally cannot stop shaking my head.
Jeez, I'm embarrassed for them.
#HardThingsTogether2019
We didn't even do stuff this dumb while pledging a fraternity.
We did during New Cadet Week but it was our buds playing casualties we had to low-crawl drag across the Drillfield.
LOLUVA brings us so much entertainment.
Every year LOLUVA seems to provide us with these little gems, and thats what I appreciates about them.
I actually think it's kinda cool. Great way to build team identity and confidence.
You can hear the coaches - "nobody else in the ACC is willing to do this, work this hard, suffer this much"!
If the players don't care - it's stupid. If they have bought in - this shit works!!!
Here's LOLUVA's pull-up workout:
Hate to be "that guy", but these are really damn hard.
lol yeah. muscle ups engage more than just the arms. buttttttt I have to think this is a more accurate gif of a UVA players do pull ups.
Those kipping pullups in the original gif aren't muscle ups tho...
Kipping pull ups are garbage. They're almost as infuriating to watch as the dude that loads 700lbs on a leg press only to move it 4 inches and push it back up.
I'm going to ruin your day.
Behold the Tiger Lift.
All of a sudden, I'm feeling pretty good about betting on Pitt +2.5 in Week 1
You should!
Crawling around in the long grass in summer? Gonna be covered in ticks, right?
Somebody better tell them that GT isn't a triple option team anymore and their knees are safer.
That was my thought as well.
Well if we have to invade Normandy again in the near future these guys should be ready for the first wave. Good luck to them!
You probably had the same scenes from SPR as I did. When I watched that clip the scenes where they are breaching the shingle and up against the pillboxes were in my head. These...
In true UVA fashion, they can't even crawl up a hill correctly.
If they're going to try to retake Omaha Beach, I'd say it's pretty safe.
SgtHulkaGetYourAssDownPrivateYou'reGonnaGetItShotOff.gif
At the following days practice.

Then looking for wins against tech
Chase Mummau from the top rope!
CHASE, THAT MAN HAS A FAMILY!
Are they practicing crawling off the field?
Won't they get enough of that during the regular season?
And somehow these clowns are favored to finish ahead of us in the Coastal.
UVA players after practice. (or whatever you call that) looking at the transfer portal like....
"Dammit guys, wait til practice is over before you start hitting the bath salts" ~ Bronco Mendenhall, probably
Must be learning from this guy. Football is war...
Yikes...let's not bring this perp back up.
Qualuude drills.
Obviously, these guys are training to make better snow angels.
One response in that thread is gold:
