A former team doctor for Penn State is suing the university and football Coach James Franklin, claiming Franklin pressured him about clearing injured players to return to the gridiron.
Dr. Scott A. Lynch claims in a lawsuit filed in Dauphin County Court that Franklin repeatedly tried to influence his decisions regarding whether hurt players were fit to play.
If proven Franklin is done. However proving it will be very difficult.

It could be argued that at this point, they should be one of the most caring ones and learned their lesson well. Not that they did, just that they should.

I don't know how these things work in general, much less in Pennsylvania, but I did find that tidbit interesting.
Pennsylvania has some of the worst sunshine laws. That's why we always have to * salary information Pitt and PSU in addition to private schools don't report year to year like most places.
HIPAA restraints can be waived if the patient signs off. Its the university and how they approach the medical care given that will be complicated.
It only takes one kid who feels Franklin derailed a pro career to testify.

If proven and the worst case scenario plays out, they will still sign a top 15 recruiting class 6 months later.
You know DC, I usually enjoy your stuff. If signing top 15 classes means knowingly endangering athletes, I'm out.
I think he means that because it's Penn State, even if this is all true, there won't be any real penalty. Not that he wants that type of culture at VT.
But if that is what it takes to make it to top 15, gross negligence, disregard for player well being, a culture of covering up atrocious behavior, etc., etc., I'm okay with where we are. I still remember being mortified that the coaching staff wanted to fine players from their COLAs. I don't want to be a program that takes advantage of young men who are chasing a dream.
All I was saying is that they are a recruiting machine. Their long time DC raped boys in the shower and they had a 1 year down blip and began recruiting in the top 20 right after that. It's uncanny
