The @CFBPlayoff has named Danielle Bartelstein its Director of Team Operations.Join us in welcoming Danielle to the #CFBPlayoff team! https://t.co/YtW07SKkz7 pic.twitter.com/01Aj2nx4tkβ College Football Playoff (@CFBPlayoff) August 26, 2019
This is a huge loss. Danielle was not only like a mom to every coach and player she was basically the director for every event Tech football did.

Fuck.
What is going on?
That's just the transfer portal continuing to wreak havoc on our athletic department.
Fuente hired her when he got to Tech this is a job promotion.
Everyone who's leaving VT is leaving for a promotion. Means Fuente & team are good at spotting talent. Need to keep adding people though.
Thanks. Just sure would be nice to be the destination rather than a stepping stone. Perhaps that's not in the cards for VT.
There are higher gigs than VT...just sayin. Getting people thru VT to be able to take higher positions means we have great talent rather than being the ceiling they hit and not going further.
Well, yeah. That's kinda obvious. I guess what I was trying to say is that I wish sometimes we were a destination for the best, not just the destination for the best we can get. I realize having folks, good folks, move on to bigger and better things is a great thing. It just sucks always being the less big and less better thing. Hopefully what I'm trying to say makes sense.
But yeah, I get it. We're not the best and won't be for a long time. And if we stop having folks leave for better positions then I'd start to question our talent evaluation and recruiting policies (not talking about player recruiting).
It's not that we're "best" or "not best", it's that we have limited opportunities for promotion within our athletic department, and most of our talented employees have to look elsewhere for their promotions. I expect this is very common within college athletics, especially with behind-the-scenes positions like hers.
Leg. I didn't think of it along these lines but you are right.
She's well qualified and not bae.
Sucks but awesome that VT has representation on the CFB Playoff team.
Whit's staffing tree is getting bigger.
This is fruit of the Fuente Tree.
ah true, I was thinking she was brought in by Whit. But obviously Fuente brought her in from their experience at TCU. good call.
Congrats to Danielle! This is a great opportunity to a deserving individual.
For those of you who somehow want to spin this negatively towards the athletic department...don't. She didn't leave for the same job at another university. This is an advancement in someone's career path and should do nothing but highlight the quality people we have had.
Agree on the take. I'm more curious as to who was seeking who out. Did the committee approach her, or did she approach the committee about the opening?
Someone probably heard about the opening and suggested to her to put her name in the running (or suggested to them to seek her out).
That's typically how these things work.
You're all wrong. The correct first comment should have been "she bae" just to bookend her tenure as a topic of discussion on TKP.

I sort of went for that.
I appreciated that. In all seriousness, Bartelstein has done a fantastic job and I wish her the best. I hope we can land someone equally
Qualified...dammitGood at his job.So...do we still count as DBU?
Yes, because one of the most important criteria for being DBU is sending DBs to the next level.
Honestly never heard of her before but congrats on getting a promotion. Always good to see a Hokie succeeding
this comment from the original danielle bartelstein thread made me chuckle
Goddamned transfer portal stealing all our qualifications!!!
In all seriousness, congrats to Danielle.
It will be crucial to have another friendly face on the playoff committee when we run the table with such a shitty schedule this season.
Congrats to her, lame that the CFP just took her VT picture and photoshopped her shirt black.
What exactly does the Director of Team Operations for the CFP do?
Probably handles all the logistics for the teams that make it to the playoffs, coordinates with those teams' directors of operations to set up events, probably handles some of the committee's logistics as well.
Handling just the committees logistics is a lot. Getting all those people to meet multiple times a year, at a minimum 10. Plus some members travel to games.
This is excellent positioning for Fuente if he can overcome the current issues and get to program building
Looks like our support staff will need a new rudder. Sad!
Congrats to Danielle, best of luck and much love. Thank you for your hokieness.
Also @Danielle, I think Holly Rowe should be on that committee, so...help her out if you can.
