Thekeyplay.com Tailgate to Benefit Women's Resource Center of NRV

Virginia Tech Hokies football, basketball, athletics blog and forum featuring: unique columns, breaking news, film studies, in-depth analysis, recruiting, videos and jokes.

There will be a Thekeyplay.com tailgate this Saturday (11/16/13) at 8:00 AM before the Maryland game. The spot is Lot 9, 0291. There will be some food (deer, burgers, dogs) and drinks provided, but those are bound to run out. If you're planning on staying for a while, please bring something to contribute; whether that's food to share, drinks, or tailgating supplies (chairs, trash bags, whatever).

Most importantly, it's a charity event. If you are planning on coming by at all, even to say hello for a minute, you are required to bring $5 or more in cash, canned goods, or supplies from this list.

The donations will benefit The Women's Resource Center Of The New River Valley.

I think it's a great cause.

Located in Radford, VA, we are a non-profit, human service agency with the purpose of providing programs and services to adult and child victims of domestic and sexual violence. For 30 years, we've been providing hope and help to those who need it in the New River Valley. Our center, the oldest in Virginia, has been and will continue to be the cornerstone of courage and inspiration for thousands of people in our community.

The Women's Resource Center is committed to serving all victims of domestic and sexual violence, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, national origin, age, religion, disability, or veteran status.

I know how generous HokieNation, and everyone on this site can be, so I'm looking forward to help give something back to the community. If you can't make the tailgate (boo-ing noises), you can always donate online.

If you have any questions, leave them in the comments on this post. If you're coming, fill out the RSVP below.

I hope to see everyone in Blacksburg!

*For full disclosure, I'm not associated with The Women's Resource Center, and my tax return will not benefit from the total donation that will be made.

Awesome choice. Thanks for supporting them, Joe!

Kinda on-topic, kinda off - if you use Amazon, go to smile.amazon.com. It allows you to choose a charity that 0.5% of your purchases go to. I think they have over 1 million charities to choose from (including the NRV Women's Resource Center). All you have to do is place your orders from smile.amazon.com.

@historyhokie.bsky.social

I'm really disappointed that I won't be able to make it to this one :(

I hope everyone has a great time and that there are plenty of donations for a great cause.

Go Hokies!

Onward and upward

I won't be able to make this one, but I do have some deer tenderloin and back straps to donate in my freezer.

Five star get after it 100 percent Juice Key-Playing. MAN

That would be awesome French. I've only got hindquarters but would love some loins. You able to meet up with Joe before Friday?

If you want to support TWO charities, bring some extra canned goods for The Marching Virginians and Hokies for the Hungry! Food this year will be going to the Montgomery County Christmas Store

I will be providing free admission to #8 VT wrestling vs #9 Edinboro. Get tanked then come yell obscenities while watching a top ten match up then go jump to enter sandman.

Edit: Its wrestling powerhouse Edinboro, who produced our assistant coach Tony Robbie. Don't know why I thought we were already in ACC duals already. Either way, it will be great match and hopefully the Hokies will pull off a win on the mat and on the gridiron.

FYI Lot 9 is one of the Litton Reeves lots

Parking map

NO TWEEDY, IT'S WHIP!!!!!!!

is there a bus or anything that goes over there? or some parking? normally I do public tailgating but I'd love to tailgate with yall

Taylor, looking desperately throws it deep..HAS A MAN OPEN DANNY COALE WITH A CATCH ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FIVE!!!!....hes still open

There is no bus or nearby parking (other than donor parking with a parking pass) that I am aware of. The parking passes to this and other nearby lots can be purchased on third-party sites like StubHub, but are usually pricey (50-100).

One other option we have done before is to drop off our stuff at our tailgating destination lot, park at the public lot, then walk back over.

I'll be there by 9am with 2-3 friends, we'll be the old guys with good beer creepin' on the ladies. Holla.

Thats a long ways from Lot 1 but depending on the time I will try to get there.

I'm tailgating in lot 16 but will make my way over to donate $5 and say hi.

@thekeyplay - I didn't even know your last name until a friend was asking if I was going to your tailgate haha

Good to meet you today, Joe. Had other obligations and could not stay though.

This is going to be great for the ACC.

Likewise. It was awesome to be able to put a face to a few of the names on here.
