OT: 757 to VT this Weekend?

I have a friend looking for a way to get from the 757 (Near CNU) to Blacksburg for the game this weekend. Any suggestions on transportation options? There looks to be a same day bus for the game sponsored by ODU, but a Friday-Sunday option would be preferred.

10 hours on a bus full of ODU fans? There's gotta be a better way.

Yeah.

Long trip back after they lose.

And long WALK back if we do.

Try Waze Carpooling features? Or just rent a car.

Or rent an RV and arrive early and leave late.

they could take a train from Norfolk to Roanoke but that's about a 12 hour trip (Norfolk -> Alexandria -> Roanoke) each way.

American mass transit and infrastructure in one statement right there.

The most impressive part of this is that the dude is wearing sandals and pulls this off.

Plan for the worst and hope for the best, not the other way around.

The most impressive part is that he doesn't get killed

I've got an extra seat in the back of my plane if they want to fly to the game (plane is based at Hampton Roads Exec in Chesapeake). That said, we're leaving Saturday morning and then flying back after the game.

Shit. Can we be friends?

Certainly! Unfortunately Charlotte is a wee bit out of the way...sorry :(

Checking the thread to see if anyone offered this dude a ride. This Hokie stud is giving him a goddamn plane ride.

So wait a minute. Let me get this straight. You are a 2010 graduate in construction management and you own your own airplane that you fly to games in Blacksburg?

Careful with your response. I may or may not find the nearest cliff from which to leap.

It's a 4-seater piston, not a jet or anything extravagant. I'm also really good at finding banks that'll give me money with minor strings attached.

But yes, you summarized it all pretty thoroughly.

Yall got anymore of them "tips for getting money from banks with minimal strings attached?"

Ouch. ;-)

When it comes to flying, the answer is "always".

It's a 1977 Grumman Tiger. 4 seats, does about 135kt, 600mi range. Got my license about 3 years ago when I was living in Jersey and decided that sound financial decisions were overrated so bought a plane. It cost less than a new truck so worth it to me.

I've been toying with the idea of buying an old Navion Ryan. Not sure if I fly enough to make it worth it, but I sometimes get ideas stuck in my head that won't go away.

Nice plane, probably not cheap to maintain though. Have you looked at parts availability?

Yeah, that's one of the sticking points. Probably a pipe dream, but still...

Why would you leap from a measly cliff when this guy has a plane?

Joffrey, Cersei, Ilyn Payne, the Hound, Jeff Jagodzinski, Paul Johnson, Pat Narduzzi.

Someone just put their forearm on the table. Damn.

@hokie_rd

That's no forearm
