So..... every state employee (including all us Virginia Tech employees) just got an email from Virginia DHRM, complete with a flyer attached:
Dear State Employees,
We are pleased to announce a discount for state employees and their families from the University of Virginia for UVA football home games at Scott Stadium. Season tickets covering all 7 home games are 20% off for state employees, with prices starting at just $103 each – less than $15 per game. Season tickets offer the same seats for each game and include the Commonwealth Clash on Nov. 29 versus Virginia Tech. Single game tickets are just $25 each for the games versus Florida State (Sept. 14), Duke (Oct.19) and Georgia Tech (Nov. 9), and just $15 each for the games versus William & Mary (Sept. 6), Old Dominion (Sept. 21) and Liberty (Nov. 23)."
Maybe it's because it's Thursday and I'm salty, but it really irks me that UVA (via DHRM) blasts VT email with the type of discount I *WISH* Virginia Tech made available to those that work here. I'm fortunate enough to afford my season tickets - but there are a lot of employees here that love the Hokies just as much where shelling out $700+ for season tickets will never happen.
Yes, I get that we have a wholly different product than #WhooVA, #15Straight, and #LaneNorth and as such, the money matters.
So... HokieFireman I'll be waiting for the obligatory reply!

Since every game except the VT game is discounted, I think it's just a lame attempt to try and fill their stadium past 50% for a regular season game.
Case in point:
"The single game discount represents savings of up to $35 off regular single game ticket prices. Seating is available in both the lower and upper level areas of Scott Stadium"
Their highest discounted savings almost reflects the cost of our lowest cost ticket available...

Our attendance has been down substantially from when we - well - were winning. Take a look at the single game ticket options then look at the seat map, there are a lot, A LOT, of open seats still available.
Maybe, but you don't have to tie a porkchop (hotdog) to them to get people to buy them.
This is true. We're by no means at a UVA Val-pak coupon level of enticing fans, but the 'enhancements' to our ticket flexibility options, as well as, enhancements to the stadium experience are all in an effort to combat the lower game attendance.
