I made the following post on an earlier thread:
"Although I have disagreed with a couple of his moves (no Thursday night game this year, Stick-it-In, Seth Greenberg), I think Jim Weaver has done a great job in his fifteen year tenure at Virginia Tech. Without a doubt, the athletic program has improved immensely in his tenure and he has the respect of myself and I'm sure other countless Hokies for doing his job with class and distinction.
It's incredibly sad that he's leaving his post due to health circumstances. Which is why I'm proposing the following challenge to TKPers:
By the end of this calendar year, my goal is to raise $1,000 in Jim Weaver's name to be donated to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. The charity is one of the highest-rated non-profits dealing with Parkinson's Research according to Charity Navigator. If another person strongly feels that we should donate to another non-profit, I'm willing to be flexible. I'm planning on putting together a Fundrasier page by the end of this week and would love and appreciate any help I can get because I'm not the savviest social media person out there."
The link below is an online fundraising site I created through fundraise.com as a means of meeting my goal of raising $1,000 by December 31, 2013. I will continue to evolve this as time permits me and as I get suggestions from other people.
I need your help in getting the word out! Tweet! Facebook! "Insert Crazy Social Media Site I'm Not Aware of!"

Not to discredit you or anything but I've always wondered how do these fundraisers work when anyone can create it? Do 100% of the donations go towards the charitable cause?
I've always been weary of the same thing. I chose the Fox Foundation because it was highly rated through Charity Navigator, an independent website that measures the validity and financial efficiency of non-profit organizations. Below is the link for the Fox Foundation:

In terms of this actual fundraiser, I will personally guarantee that all money raised will go to the actual foundation. I will take a picture/video of the actual donation in early January to verify that the entire amount is going to the right place.
Random question: does your username translate as Stiney For The Loss?
...yes
Thanks. Just a robot's curiosity. Ok.
Boom! First donation made!
Just donated! Also - one minimum donation is already 3% of the goal! All we need to reach it is 40 people putting in $25 each. We should easily be able to hit that.
In case anyone is curious, Fundraise.com has a $2.50 transaction fee and a 5% gross donation fee.
EDIT: Didn't mean to reply to your comment, just press the wrong button.
Donated and posted the link on Facebook.
Thanks!

Just wanted to thank the three people who started this thing off...14% of goal reached within 24 hours, wouldn't expect anything else of Hokie Nation
great idea - done
I just want to thank everyone again who donated (25% in less than 48 hours!).
I'll try to not be annoying with this in the future but I'll casually update until I hit 1k.
I wanted to bump this thread again to help get the word out through social media and/or have more members of TKP donate.
Help meet my goal!
Bump!
Man, that Anonymous guy is awesome! He's given like 3 times!
