2020 WR out of the 757 who already has offers from UF and USCe among others.
He is also related to some guy named Kam Chancellor.

Quarterback, wore #17.
Wait, wasn't he a 2*? Why did we offer someone with such poor lineage?
Not sure, I've never even heard of Bam Bam Kam Chancellor The Touchdown Canceler
Yeah, it's not like he's a pro or anything.
Nope I don't remember that name
it's pronounced KEVIN.. Shesh, dumb asses everywhere!!!
Still don't know what your talking about
EDIT: wrong use of GIF, fail
I get the feeling that a lot of in-state guys want to come here, but we are just so bad and the future so uncertain that they have to go elsewhere. Total shame and this recruiting is going to really bite us a few years down the road.
I told myself that when Percy Harvin left for UF ( hell I think the entire top 10 left the state in 2006). Patrick Estes went to LOLUVA. Patrick Dosh committed and then went to UF. Had to stop telling myself in state guys have any loyalty or desire to come to Tech. It's how well the staff can recruit those players just like a player from NC or FL. this staff is sucking it up for this class.
We've historically lost some big in-state recruiting battles basically forever. But now literally no one in the top 20 in state wants to come to Tech. Our perception is really poor right now. I don't like it but I can't say I blame recruits for not wanting to join what may be a sinking ship at this point.
This news is not at all a surprise. 15 million is really starting to sound like a bargain. Does anyone trust Fuente to make a good DC hire?
What makes you say this, just wondering?
Guys seem have a lot of interest but just don't feel comfortable enough with VT right now. I think they like VT but just too much risk. 247 basically confirmed this exact sentiment on a thread over there. Things are pretty bad when a relative of Kam goes elsewhere.
But things weren't bad when a relative of Barquell River's goes some where else while Rivers was still on the team?
In 2017, 2018, and 2019 we had 6 total top 10 VA players sign with VT
In 2013, 2014, and 2015 we had 5 total top 10 VA players sign with VT (this includes holland fisher which i can't remember if he made it to campus)
From 2013-2019 FSU had 3 top VA players, PSU had 3 and Bama 1
2012 is the last time more top 10 VA players stayed in state (7) than left.
2007 is the next time in history that the majority of top 10 players stayed in state at the last time VT had the top player.
Which brings us to 2005, where 8 VA top 10 players stayed in state, Macho was the top recruit, VT had 5 of the top 10 and #10 was Greg Boone and every year before 2005 was solid for VA players staying in VA.
So since VT has pissed off Greg Boone's coaches (i don't know how Greg felt about things), VA players haven't stayed in state. This is not something new.
I couldn't belief how many from 2001 until about 2014 top in state talent went to LOLUVA
I still can't believe how stacked the 2003 UVA team was. There was so much talent UVA wasted.
Uh, I agree with the reasoning, but that would lead me to believe that they in fact do NOT want to come here haha. I really see no reason to think that they want to come here at all.
Penn state only has 10 seniors yet they are taking 27 in this class so far.... Franklin is going to be throwing guys into the portal like uncle Phil throws Jazz out the house!
Devyn Ford, pls
This is the guy that cancelled his visit to Tech after the Duke debacle, right?
He is also Kam Chancellor's nephew.
ouch, getting family members of previous payers used to be our forte
So was D, Special Teams and nabbing 10 W's each season...
I think he cancelled before the Duke game.
It was after.
It was before.
It was after.
Fully expect this to be a trend.
Bud is retiring, Fuente's future is uncertain at best.
I can't imagine wanting to commit to VT right now, it's just too much of a risk.
Getting someone to commit (except when we're by far their best offer) will take some really impressive recruiting, and not much suggests that our staff has those kinds of chops.
Yea, I think Alum07 and I were on this topic a few weeks back. 2020 is already a crapshoot on the recruiting trail, and with the uncertainty of who will be at the helm will likely mean 2021 class will be 'below our average' as well UNLESS things drastically change this year in either 1) we start winning convincingly for the rest of the year or 2) we clean house after this season. I don't see a middle ground or an additional option there.
This is why perception is more important than reality.
Even if everything was OK or trending upward, the perception that it isnt becomes a self fulfilling prophecy by hurting recruiting and thus resulting in collapse.
Not saying he will change his mind, but there is still plenty of football left till things are definite for recruits. If the season has a turn around, never know what could happen.
On the bright side we'll probably have no problem scooping up all the 2-3 stars with no P5 offers that Fuente had no problem going after before we even had this perception problem
"Related to a Beamer recruit? Probably has a bad attitude. Don't want him. NBA."- Fuente, probably
VT is never going to return anywhere close to the late 99-00s of a program because VT cannot do even the smallest of details well. Can't block, can't recruit, can't provide quality customer service to fans, hell, they can't even make it easy to give money and join the Hokie Club. Why I waste energy on caring any further is beyond me. Apathy is truly setting in.
^^^^This^^^^^
It is truly appalling how incompetent we are across the board.
*cough* maybe Whit isn't King Midas after all *cough*
Maybe negative institutional momentum of a government organization is difficult to fix without significant buy-in from the employees and stakeholders.
It's extremely unreasonable to expect every single hire to work out. However, Whit has consistently shown that he will do his due diligence and actually conduct an extensive search when hiring coaches. Personally I appreciate that willingness a hell of a lot more than being told by Weaver that we'd have a national coaching search only to promote an assistant. And perhaps Whit's best hire was promoting Tony Robie as wrestling coach but based on his track record we can feel confident he did in fact survey multiple options before ultimately determining that Robie was the best candidate based on the available information at the time to be highly successful at VT. At the end of the day, that doesn't guarantee 100% success but at least he's taking the necessary steps to make a more informed decision for the betterment of VT athletics.
All I'm saying is that there are some people who turn into the "leave Brittany alone" guy if you so much as suggest that Whit isn't perfect.
He has done a very good job at some things, but under his leadership many of the football related decisions (save for retaining Bud) have been questionable.
EDIT: clarity
I don't necessarily think that the hiring of Fuente was a bad decision. It just didn't work out well. Not all bad outcomes are predicated by bad decisions. Though that contract certainly is hurting us now.
Seat license great decision. Drive for 25 great work. Upgrading Merryman and Jamerson.
C'mon man, you don't have to do this.
Clearly someone does because the "Whit is trash" crowd is growing here and on social media.
I never said Whit is trash.
I said his handling of the football program has been sub-par, and that people *flip* out if you say anything less than positive about him.
