Bad idea in 2013 and probably worse idea in 2023- Do Alabama and LSU play Tulane or FIU home and home to recruit the NO and Miami areas? Heck no. They would rightly regard them as trap games with only downsides. What about this deal can't be done down the road with a team of no football reputation playing in a cracker box stadium? An ODU graduate should not be left to make this decision with a new AD in the wings.

This was something that has been in the works for a while. ODU will be an FBS team and will have had enough time to transition in. We get a chance to play in front of recruits who will be at ODU visiting. This isn't JMU, it's like playing an ECU in your home state.

Yes, definitely. They are investing money into their program and have found a lot of success early on, and with any luck they'll be perennial contenders in Conference USA by the first time we play them, in 2017.

So you go from 2:2 being bad to a 4:3 being unacceptable? I don't get why people are so against this setup. What is the complaint everybody is having?

Great idea, this will give Virginia Tech lots of 757 airtime. ODU isn't a bad program for being so young. They can throw the football all over the field. Did we beat LOLUVA or do they also have a series? Well, never mind...LOLUVA probably will give up football by then to expand the soccer and field hockey programs.

I like playing ODU. It will be a mid tier OOC game by then and will help with recruiting.

You guys keep comparing what Alabama and LSU do but we are not Alabama. It is a different situation. Being able to tell these kids they will get to play a game or 2 right where they grew up is a good selling point.

I'd rather play ODU every year (who might be a good middle of the road team) than two FCS OoC snoozefests that they have every year....
