I was listening to College sports radio on Sirius radio and they announced that TMZ broke the news that FSU's Jameis Winston is being investigated for sexual assault that occurred in Dec 2012. From what I understand police were called at the time of the incident and photos were taken and a statement was taken from Winston. Dont' know why it's taking a year to investigate or what FSU knows.
If Winston goes down though FSU is hurting as their backup QB is out 4-6 weeks which would put them at their 3d string QB. Ouch.

The only difference is Winston is gonna start. It is halF aSs U after all.
Sounds like Winston got the whole ass...
I laughed at this...then felt bad...then laughed
Me too
A down vote, butt Winston was just preparing for a tough game. He was practicing coming from behind.
I see what you did there, turkey leg!
FSU doesn't suspend top players.
"You can say that again!"
- Peter Warrick
"For Sure!"
- Laverneus (sp?) Coles
Bourbon Street > Bobby Bowden's threat of suspension
- Sebastian Janikowski
IE Sebastian Janikowski's infamous International Curfew.
Who was their receiver who was arrested for shoplifting back in the 1999-2000 season, and should have been suspended for the National Championship game? I believe he had a pretty big impact on the game.
Peter Warrick
i remember the night of the national title game somebody at the rivermill had a shirt on that said 'warrick stole my other shirt.'
Peter Warrick turned the tide on us and they kicked Laverneus Coles off the team for being involved in the whole fiasco. Justice.
Wonder if anyone has that picture of the Heisman trophy holding the Dillards bag? One of my favorites.

holy crap. That's all I really have to say about that.
I think this is more likely to be a smear campaign.
It's a really stupid reach for TMZ to connect this to Winston, the suspect is between 5'9 - 5'11.
Stupid and TMZ go hand-in-hand
How tall is Johny Football again?
That's almost the equivalent of accusing Mike Imoh of cutting in front of me in the Owen's cheese steak line when it really was Marcus Vick.
That man really loves his fast food.
Katherine Webb should watch out!
Yeah, this is a joke. A lot like Rovell trying to take down Manziel with the autographs. Except Manziel may have actually done that (and good for him, but that's another topic). This is old, TMZ just tryna' make a dolla dolla bill.
ESPN is running it now
I thought it was a bit odd that it's a year from the event. But who knows.
I'll reserve judgement until a real news organization breaks this story...sorry TMZ, I don't care what you think.
did he have his contacts in to at least see what she looked like? In all seriousness though, its probably not true but who knows anymore
Yeah I bet a slagathor or two slips through every once in a while with all that squinting
Here's a link to the story, to include the police report -

Here's another story -
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap2000000281359/article/report-florida-st...
I don't think much will come of this..seems more like a smear tactic by Kirk Herbstreit to change the pollers mind and have Ohio St jump over FSU for the 2nd BCS spot.
I heard Mark Schlabach talk about this at halftime of the Ball St - NIU game last night, and he sounded baffled that this had come out at all. He clearly had no idea what was going on. He gave all the information he could, but it sounded like every statement was a question.
TMZ covers sports now? Sounds like the perfect job for Heather Dinich.
'TMZ reports...' - "NEXT!"
Someone call me when Jameis is 5'11" and has straight hair. Until then, I'll assume this is about people trying to make a buck and the news trying to generate a story out of nothing...which I think is TMZs official motto.
I think they were trying to seek out the wrong famous person... Andre 3000 perhaps? He's 5'10"
Can we call you when Famous Jameis' DNA is found in the girls underwear?
What this looks like to me is that this is pretty much old news that never made the public spotlight..someone said one day 'hey remember when Winston was alleged of screwing with that girl..hey wait he is famous now, we should call the paparazzi and make $200'
If you read the report, it says 12 years of age. And no damage. Wonder if it was statutory rape. Oh drinking was involved btw.
Height disparity? Was it the victim who couldn't see? Unless she went cross-eyed after the fact. And practicing for the big game in December 2012? It must have come early.
It DEFINITELY wasn't me this time
- Jim Drunkenmiller
This alone doesn't prove him guilty, but this isn't a good sign for Winston. http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/10009077/dna-analysis-mat...
And reports of the Tallahassee police telling the accuser not to pursue the case. The plot thickens.
Hopefully the legal system will work as it is supposed to, and the truth with be revealed, one way or the other.
This whole thing has spiraled into a huge mess and it has a very real chance of ruining college football this year. And thats not even the worst of it. Looking like in all probability neither party will ever really gain justice.
Also not sure I like this thread so much. Might be a good look to close it and start a new one in light of the fact that this is a potential rape case now and some of the jokes at the top of this thread. But that's just me, carry on.
Agreed
Agreed. This subject really doesn't belong on TKP.
Or if it is here, since it does potentially have ACC championship implications, it at least needs to be respectful about the situation.
I agree. The FSU situation is relevant in light of the fact that it is not only an ACC team, but one of national prominence for whom the implications could be huge. I think the problem is that, as a rapidly evolving case, the initial reports made this seem like a complete hoax with questionable timing, so some wanted to make fun of it a bit. The story becomes more damning by the day, but really I think we should only discuss this topic if and when charges are filed.
I agree with all of your agreements.
Joe, can we scratch this one?
Don't sound too good for famous jameis. DNA evidence is pretty damning
Coulda been consensual. He said she said usually ends badly for the girl unless her accuser's name is Mike Tyson.
If I were going to rape a girl these days, I'd probably wear a body condom. Because I've seen CSI and I know how it goes down... one public hair and I'm freaking DNA'd up. DNA by itself just means they had sex. If he denied the sex and the DNA shows up thats a problem for his credibility.
The emerging problem for Jameis is that it looks like FSU or someone affiliated (could be the po po) tried to railroad this thing and may have even settled this with the girl's family. If this becomes public perception which it is heading that way, I see about a 20% chance Jameis sees the postseason. FSU needs to get out in front of this thing but they really can't unless the police department gets their act together.
He'll probably be back next fall, but in the meantime, we're going to see continued FSU affiliated leaks about the girl and thats just going to increase the pressure on the DA and FSU to respond.
Bobby B woulda signed a few autographs and and aw shucksed this thing into a non-story already. The world seems to have changed for BobbyB and his breed and Jameis is a guy this new breed of Americans like to see fall.
Will be interesting to see. College football doesn't really seem threatened by the helmet issues, the repeated flaunting of the NCAA, the revenue sharing issues, etc. They keep mishandling this and the public opinion is going to start to cause a problem. I keep looking for Twitter and those types of new media sites to be utilized to put pressure on advertisers, affiliated groups etc. We've seen it a little bit in the rape cases of football player sons of small town officials. I wouldn't be surprised if we don't start to see more virtual communities start to put pressure on these cases. This wouldn't have even come up it appears if it weren't for TMZ. There are a whole bunch of scooped reporters probably trying to get the next big news item, for sure.
I wasn't saying that he was guilty, but he will likely be charged with a felony with both physical evidence and the victim's testimony. That means no Heisman, no National Championship game, and maybe no ACCCG.
you know we're going off the rails when people start musing about how they would go about raping someone.
yeah no kidding!
FSU Police were trying to push it under the rug. A good friend of mine goes there and says that It is not looking pretty. There could be tampering with evidence and there's even some rumors of them trying to pay her off.. Regardless James "Squinston" Winston put it in the right hole that's for sure.
"I have an alibi."

Something to keep in mind guys.

"Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston's alleged rape gives opposing fans opportunities to speculate and joke. And those fans, Gators included, should take none of those opportunities".
If the allegations result in Winston being sidelined, this would be the single biggest story in college football this year. A tragedy on the personal side for the young lady, a travesty on the side of Winston..how do you throw away such a promising career? Everyone loses. Very sad, indeed.
We should probably learn our lesson from the Duke lacrosse case, and not speculate and preemptively crucify this kid before all the facts are out.
Innocent until Proven Guilty. That's my stance. That's how the American Legal System is intended to work.
Unfortunately the media and public opinion don't ascribe to the ideal of due process.
that won't hold up in traffic court
Not standing behind this or giving it any credibility. Just presenting it to point out that we shouldnt draw any conclusions until this is all over. Unfair to condemn anyone at this point.

I think the sources contention that if by Friday no charges, Saturday plays, nothing going to happen thing is assuming a lot, JoePa was allowed to coach one more game before they brought the house down on him at Penn State
Totally agree that "by friday" thing is getting way ahead of things. There is either enough evidence for an arrest or there isn't. Who knows when that will be determined.
Its not like they were in a hurry for the past 11 months.
Which is what makes me think that the "source" from TPD is probably correct. I mean, he was cheating on his GF with the victim and then presumably told her to leave him alone when his real GF visited. She got pissed during the heat of the moment and called rape, then after thinking it over probably realized it was a horrible idea and hence the completely off description and decision not to pursue. And it got swept under the rug. Now that Jameis is Famous it's resurfacing, maybe hoping to get some dough to just shut up.
It would be interesting if he gets arrested and FSU has to go with the third string QB in the Acc title game. Duke would probably march up and down the field on 'em. Even if VT gets the nod over Duke..we could make a game of it.
