Well since this thread's resurrected I guess this is a good place to mention that a VT license plate design for South Carolina has been approved and should be available sooner than later. I can upload a picture of it later but I can't access imugr at work.
Edit: Alright here it is. A guy in the Palmetto Chapter Alumni Association has been trying to get one approved for a few years now and finally succeeded. He doesn't know how long until it will be available but hopefully not too long.

ughhh Georgia still doesn't have VT plates. I would buy one in an instant. Kentucky, Michigan State, Miami, UNC, Clemson, and every SEC school have one, but not VT :-(

There's a ton of Mich State alum (and B10 alum in genera) in Atlanta. I imagine it's because Atlanta has become a hub for the supply chain industry, and Mich St funnels a lot of graduates into supply chain, but that is pure speculation.

I have a great picture on my phone of my hokie bird being covered by a WVU sticker while I was at snowshoe. Need to put it some where I can link later tonight.

I have a picture of the one on the left from when I lived in stadium apts. a belated (16 years) thank you for the memory. I always wondered why the dmv let you have that but not the "kids first plate" EAT THE. ?? Now I know and I'm sadder for the next 60 seconds.

Mine forever was GOBBLRS...very few people ever asked "you a big Hokie fan?" Always "you a big turkey hunter, huh?" Golfing friend has NRSDMN, another has one along those same lines.

I wanted to just get AZHokie, but someone already has it out here. I've not come across that one in particular, but do get beeps from a lot of Hokies that live out here in the desert

Unsurprisingly I'm FENC3R. I can't for the life of me figure out who in Virginia already has FENCER. There are only a couple hundred of us in the state and most of us know one another.

Funny Story - Junior year of college we had what seemed like a million Halloween parties. I got tired of wearing the same outfits, so finally I just threw on a VT coaches' shirt/Nike polo, hat, khakis, and a headset from my PS2. Most of my friends at App State knew I was a huge VT fan, but constantly furious about the offense. My "the New VT OC" costume was very well received, often without explanation. Funny/sad that even other fanbases realized that was the thing holding us back.

The most amazing thing about this thread is that it appears Joe was sharing license plate photos with himself. 8.5 years, only 3 comments from Joe, and then thread revived 5 hours ago.

I drove a Burnt Orange BMW 320/6 around the burg for many years in the '90's. It was amazing how different lighting conditions would make that color appearance change.
320/6 means it was a gray market 6-banger import, so, yeah, faster than your 32x Beamer.
I swear the judge was a Hoo when I got caught showing off that speed one day.

I just moved to NC, so forgive the dumb question. Did you have to start your personalized plate with the letter "V"? I had "JEN4VT" in VA, so that won't work. If I have to start with "V", I'm going to try "VPI", but I'm guessing that's already taken. Any creative ideas from TKP for my new plate?

Yes, if you get the VT plate, you have to start with the V and you only get 4 or 5 characters after it. My first thought was VT08, which was available at the time, but my clever, clever boyfriend suggested VTAF instead. You used to be able to go on the DMV website to see what was available, but they changed the site and the vendor they use now is absolute garbage. I also had to fight with DMV to get this one issued, but that had more to do with the "taxes and tags together" program than because they didn't want to approve it.

I noticed that about the website. I tried to log into the 3rd party site to test combos, but I have to wait until my final registration comes in because it contains a number that is required. Thanks for the helpful info! And your boyfriend is a genius for VTAF!

Holy shit, the NEZ. I used to frequent that site before I found out about TKP. Think they stopped posting material not too long after anyway.
Edit: I was wrong. Looks like they kept posting stuff until 2016. Interesting.
Double edit: just realized this thread is almost ten years old. ... Who dug this shit up? Lol.

Yeah, going to the wayback machine, and digging this up.

But his was too good not to resurrect for this post.
There is following the community guidelines and then there is FOLLOWING THE COMUNITY GUIDELINES.
And I was even around for the initial post as well.

Holy decade old thread Batman!!

Didn't know there were enough Michigan State alumni in Georgia to lobby for their own custom plate.
On FB, Atlanta Spartans has 1,200 followers. Atlanta Hokies has 1000 followers.

Not mine but TailgateQB's license plate
Should I bring it back??
Just like breakfastgate bring it back!!
St. Jumpman?
.

Have they made license plates with the new curved VT logo yet?
-No one
If that happens, I'll buy them all up just to destroy them.
I'm gonna hold you to that.
Bury them with all the Atari E.T. cartridges
Not good enough. They found the E.T. cartridges.
All of them though? :)
Don't have a pic handy but my original plate was "LNCHPL" which I've replaced with "TO118B"
I don't get it /s

Gotta make that trip to Lane Stadium North every couple years :)
This is crazy, both are the same exit #:

Lol, that's pretty funny
I have always thought that was a pretty great coincidence
Ahhh thanks for reminding me of my morning commute.
What does TO stand for?
TO exit 118B
Saw one in Cambridge, MD a few years ago. "SNDMAN" Yup, he was a Hokie.
I have a great picture on my phone of my hokie bird being covered by a WVU sticker while I was at snowshoe. Need to put it some where I can link later tonight.
These were my plates. Unfortunately, the DMV eventually denied my registration renewals

I saw a uvasucks or uvasux just the other day. I guess eventually they'll suffer the same fate.
Clearly, a wrongful denial.
What's the world coming to?
Mine forever was GOBBLRS...very few people ever asked "you a big Hokie fan?" Always "you a big turkey hunter, huh?" Golfing friend has NRSDMN, another has one along those same lines.
Ah, the ol' Nurse Demon, back to haunt hospitals across Central VA
We just retired the Virginia plates on my wife's car with our move to Austin. She had G0BB1E Hokie Bird styled plates.
The one in my profile pic is mine

maybe a contractor?
I've had that thought as well. I guess they really love their work if that's the case.
Foiled again
Perhaps someone who builds fences?
Thief?
Might it be a contractor who builds fences
Not particularly creative, but it's always nice to see hokie plates even in WA.
I saw one that was a VT plate that said "NEW OC" and I couldn't figure out if they got it during then ocainspring, Loeffler, or corny era
That's the genius of it. It works into perpetuity.
*cries in generations*

That's me - got it during the Stiney era. I haven't felt the need to change it tho...

Good time to shout out appreciation for Joe and crew fro how far TKP has come in a decade.

Yes indeed!
Where you at VTYeatts?
My plates are the VT crest plates with "LPD WIN". I was thrilled this combo was available, and my goal would be to get Bud to sign one plate some day!
My tags. Dog tax included!
How VT is FlippinHokie's car?
Appears to be sufficiently VT.
Dog, too.
Such Football. Much Hokie.
VT AF!
winner

Those are my initials, AF couldn't possibly be anything offensive.
Y'all have no idea. She carries around a fathead of the most famous Hokie of all time in that thing.
a fathead of Hank?

Currently that Fathead is in Magic Rat's car. Let's just say that Wasnick's head gets around.
I can not tell what school Flippin supports from this photo
Red car in Raleigh?
Wolfpacker
It's spitfire orange, actually. Orange cars are shockingly hard to take a picture of.

There was a period where he was looking to purchase a new Wrangler in orange, and I lobbied hard for that plate to be VTAF2, but I got shot down.
I think I saw this one parked on Earhart on Saturday (the orange Jeep). Tags were Key Play related... didn't snap a picture.
VTJEN
VT08
VPI08
I like your ideas! If anyone else has ideas post them here. Crowd-sourcing my plate on TKP will probably get me a much better personalized plate!
Yeah! Absolutely nothing could go wrong with this!
VT2NC, duh
This one has my vote!
It is definitely leading competition!
So I've seen that in the wild. I was on 77 south and I passed a car that had #VT2NC as their NC tags. I just assumed it was someone on here.
I know the guy who has VPISU in NC.
VTIIX
or if dashes are allowed, VT-IIX
Since this was revived, this is my all-time favorite. So so good.
I don't have my pics hosted to post here, but I saw a VT license plate in Reston Town Center that said "RONMEX"
