Crazy thing is that if we were taking better care of the ball right now we could probably have a solid lead.
I'm not sure exactly what our offensive identity will be this season with this personnel, but I feel like this will be an enjoyable team to watch this year.
I know he's a freshman but Cattoor doesn't look ready. Hopefully Alleyne eats his minutes. Pretty slow on D but I understand his attraction is spot up shooting.
Sketchy D and hasn't been able to get any space for a good shot attempt. Wouldn't be surprised if Cone replaces him as the starter at some point in the season.
Zone killer... he's playing this year for a reason. I agree though, he looks slow tonight. But I bet he has a big night vs Syracuse.

I really like the defensive movement as a team. Pretty good job helping and not losing people in the shuffle. That being said, someone else is gonna have to step up as a go to scorer (besides Nolley). I think the potential is there with a few and hopefully they gain confidence as we go. Side note: Horne's shot is painful to watch. Let's Go!

Nothing against the guy and hope he has a great year, but I think Blackshear and Nolley could've at least got us on the bubble for the NCAA this year
Yeah, I definitely agree with you, but Blackshear made the right call for himself. He is the preseason POY in the SEC. He's gonna be the primary scorer on what looks like a top ten team.
He's got 18 pts on 7-9 shooting, 7 rebs, 3 assists and 2 steals with 10 left in UFs opener. Pretty solid night Id say.

I just don't understand why Bede doesn't at least attempt to finish at the rim. Jumps and looks to pass so much it's frustrating.
He's like Ben Simmons, just that he's afraid to take all shots instead of those beyond 3 feet from the rim

First things first, not all 5 players need to be on one end of the court. Holy hell fellas moooovvveeee.
They didn't handle it too poorly but Bede, Nolley and Alleyne to an extent are the only players I would trust. Cattorr just feels like a turnover waiting to happen.
Nolley made a freshman mistake not pulling that ball out up 4 for a minute and half left.
Also, gotta get Cattorr out with the press on.
For the record, this broadcast is just bad. The audio keeps fluctuating in and out, which is probably ok given these announcers
Dearly beloved, another year has passed and I still have not a single damn clue as to what a foul in the game of basketball is. Perhaps this is the year it finally clicks, though I am not holding my breath.

Shit at least I can wrap my head (no pun) around what targeting is, or should be. Fouls in basketball are the most up in the air judgement calls and everyone just sort of accepts it. I don't know...I was never good at the sport so maybe I'm just blind to anything not an "NBA Playoff foul." 🤷♂️

The game was fun to watch but between the announcers and the refs it was awful. By the end of the game the I was begging for a win just so the announcers would have Sandy vaginas and to overcome the refs because some of those fouls were fucking ridiculous. That win is extra sweet.

Only painful part of this is the What Ifs on Nolley not playing last year. Clutch as a team defensively and 12 for 12 at the line to close the game. Going to be interesting this year. Need someone other then Bede and Alleyne to be able to dribble penetrate.
And we need Bede to go to the rack and shoot it occasionally when he does penetrate. Bede shot the ball 4 times tonight (once because shot clock ran out)......we need him to penetrate and finish sometimes or it could be a long season. He played great otherwise. Not bad leading the team with 9 rebounds at 6ft.
I have a feeling as the season goes along Cone will play a lot more and he has the mentality to finish, and it will setup Bede to score from the outside where he's comfortable.
Great win! It might be a long season, but these guys should make it interesting for some teams.
Great now they have expectations and no one will be happy because it's all down hill from here. There is no way the team ends up with a winning percentage close to what they have now.
Maybe I'm missing something but I don't remenber opening a season against a conference opponent before, do I just not watch enough basketball?
the acc expanded to a 20 game conference schedule, same reason why a lot of football teams started against acc teams

Thought it was also because of the ACC Network launch, thought it was reported that they wanted to get some conference games out in front?
They mentioned during the broadcast that it was the first time since the early 1960's that either team had opened a season with a conference game.
Well, I expect some adversity this year, but that's a hell of a start.
My expectations have now been properly reset for the season. After last night's performance, if we don't finish with with 14 ACC wins, and an elite eight appearance, I think we need to move on from Young.
