Once for each time he was a Hokie.
I love the TBT. The format is that once you reach five minutes left in the game, they will set a score that wins the game. I believe it is 7 more points than what the current team has.
In terms of guys I want to see, give me:
1. Zabian Dowdell
2. Jamon Gordon
3. AD Vassallo
4. Deron Washington
5. Victor Davila
6. Malcolm Delaney
7. Erick Green
8. Jeff Allen
9. Seth Allen
10. Shane Henry
Coach: Seth Greenberg
I am a college basketball purist and in general I absolutely hate most rule changes in sports....
However, I would actually like if college basketball (and/or the NBA) adopted TBT's rule. It takes away all of the intentional fouling that sucks the atmosphere out of games. It also takes away the pointless reviews to see if 0.1 seconds should be added to the clock or not, because there is no game clock once they hit the 5:00 mark. It encourages good defense and good basketball.
FTFY
But I agree that it sounds really interesting and I'll almost certainly watch a decent portion of this tournament.
Jeff King
In that upset against Duke in the 2004-05 season, he hit Sheldon Williams with a sick post move into a hook shot. I still think that was the biggest upset in our basketball team's history.
Delaney, Green, Vassallo, Washington, and Jeff Allen.
Bench: Seth Allen, Dowdell, Eddie, Bibbs, Adam Smith, LeDay
Erick Green
Malcolm Delaney
AD Vassaillo
Zabian Dowdell
Jamon Gordon
Bench: Deron Washington, Seth Allen, LeDay, JT MF Thompson
It's happening!
Wait, the NBA used the Elam Ending for the All-Star Game? I don't watch the NBA at all but I might've tuned in for the 4th quarter if I'd known.
They did to great results. They were trying much harder, to the point where guys were drawing charges and arguing about calls.
Agreed. 99% of All-Star games are horrible, regardless of the sport, because no one tries...this year's NBA ASG was spectacular, especially the end of the 3Q and 4Q.
Lowry getting two, and trying for three, charges really sums up the intensity, plus Giannis' blocks on LBJ in 4Q; just stunning displays of intensity for an ASG.
"Playing for Kobe" def had something to do with it, but the Elam scoring / the charity tie-in was the real star this year
Yup, but slightly modified. They used 24 point (in honor of Kobe) above the leading teams score from the 3rd quarter.
Definitely need to have the Curry brothers on the team.

I hope they get Deron Washington more than any other player. The guy was an absolute human highlight reel. I'm sure he's lost a step since then, but man, watching his highlight videos on YouTube were a part of my childhood.
Deron Washington jumped into my lap once in JPJ Arena. Surprised the hell outta me cause I was about five rows back. It was awesome.
I swear I only went to five guys probably around 10 times for the 4 years I was in college and I ran into Deron Washington 3-4 times there. Probably needed those burgers to weigh him down so he didn't jump out of the ceiling-roof @ UNC.
Yeah....im down with this. One of my faves.
Starting 5, gimme
Malcolm Delaney
Ahmed Hill
AD Vassallo
Deron Washington
Cadarian Raines
Off the bench:
Justin Robinson
Jamon Gordon
Justin Bibbs
Zach LeDay
Ty Outlaw
Second post that puts in Cadarian Raines. Excuse me if I have faulty memory...but why?
Solid role player and some neato dunks, but I can't imagine him being in a top 5 starting lineup of VT all time.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.
I'm just confused as to why everyones starting 5 has a center on it. we don't need no centers! give me 5 guards and MY to coach them. just imagine how many 3s we would hit with this line up! its all about analytics yo! (AD & bibbs give us some height and rebounding and a little resistance in the paint.)
1. zabian dowdell
2. erick green
3. Malcolm Delaney
4. ad vasallo
5. Justin bibbs
bench
chris Clarke
deron Washington
jamon grordon
deronzo Hudson
jeff allen
1. This isnt a starting 5 for all-time VT, this is a starting 5 of guys who still got the legs to play competitively in this tourney.
2. Cause I felt like putting him in
Starting:
Justin Robinson
Deron Washington
JT Thompson
Coleman Collins
Shane Henry
Bench:
Xavier Adibi
Vince Hall
Chris Ellis
Kam Chancellor
Corey Moore
Just let Robinson and Washington transition dunk and NBA Jam on offense and let the other 3 stay back to protect the paint. When big guys need a break, rotate in bench players as necessary. Corey Moore on roster just for the post game pressers.
I'd say Antone Exum but it still feels too soon.

I saw that The Basketball Tournament starts up this weekend which got me thinking of this old thread.
Unfortunately it looks like 'Cassel Guardians' is ineligible this year :(

Per their Twitter, they pulled themselves out due to the pandemic. Said they will be back next year.
