Miami just lost
If UNC beats Duke and Va Tech beats UVA there will be a five way tie for first in the coastal. Every team is 2-2 against the other four EXCEPT us. We are 3-1 against Duke, UNC, Miami, and GA Tech. This puts us in the championship game by the very first tiebreaker rule for 3 or more teams.

I still just don't see Duke losing (said this in a previous post)
Wake will probably be rolled over, so UNC is our last hope for us to go to the ACCCG. But it is difficult to see Duke losing one more game this season. Maybe they'll look ahead to December 7 and forget they have a game (or two) to play before then?
This is the clearest explanation of our sliver of hope I've seen since the end of today's game. I'm guessing this is only ACC Coastal wins for the tiebreaker?
Correct.
there's still hope lol
If VT ends up in Charlotte (highly unlikely at this point IMO) I want to see the Hokies beat down the Criminoles and ruin their dream of playing in the big dance.
If Duke ends up in Charlotte (which I'm thinking is pretty likely) I want FSU to dismantle them and go into Pasadena to paste Bama
I think for the ACC to get some respect, FSU has to be in that title game. FSU probably has the best shot against Bama anyway.
UNC is playing a different game right now, and could definitely beat Duke. Depends on whether Duke is to be this years Cinderella.
Sorry, I did not explain enough. It's the record within the tied teams.
"Combined head-to-head winning percentage among the tied teams"
It's good that we lost to two Atlantic teams. (BC and Maryland)
Correct my if I'm wrong, but we would win any possible tiebreaker. So if we win and Duke loses at least once, we go. Doesn't matter who else we are tied with.
There can't possibly be a two way tie with Duke since GT is in the house at 5-3.
Nope. See Andy's blog post that he just put up. If Duke loses to Wake but beats UNC, and assuming we win against UVA and Miami beats UVA, we lose the four-way tie to Duke.
Right, we will win any tiebreaker except for the four way tie of Miami, GT, Duke, VT. If Miami completely collapses and loses again, we would win the three way tiebreaker of GT, Duke, VT b/c of divisional record (assuming Duke loses to someone).
There are actually some other scenarios, such as. . .
What if Miami loses again? (Seems more likely now.)
What if Duke loses to Wake Forest or Duke loses to UNC; or both? (Unlikely)
Even though we have a slim chance, odds are Duke is going to win out.
Probably the best chance for VT to make it would be a similar scenario to this (http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/9981615/five-virginia-sta...)
I just want a win over uva. Win first, worry about everyone else second. There's been a heck of a lot of worrying about everyone else, and not a lot of worrying about winning, it seems.
Just when I thought I shouldn't get my hopes up...
Duke is looking impressive. The UNC game is a heated rivalry, though UNC should probably beat ODU next weekend so would already be eligible for a bowl. If, somehow, they need the win over Duke to get to a bowl, there's a whole new level of motivation.

**Interesting experiment here**
VPIhokieME: Thanks!
aaaaaaaand another one
Duke must drop two games..
see Andy Bitter's post. We will win every tiebreaker scenario expect one.
VT going in this scenario would be the most ACC thing ever:
