I feel like this would be really cool to see with other schools as well.
Who would you like to see for a VT version of this? (Waits for numerous DHall, Mike Vick, etc comments lol)

Love this.
On a related note, I recently had the opportunity to spend an hour with the head of innovation for the Mercedes Benz Dome in Atlanta. They have a ton of wild ideas like this that they want to try out for the Falcons and United, but the TV contracts and deals with NFL & MLS, respectively, are really limit them. He did say that they're planning on strategically picking some low-visibility games where they're just going to break the rules and take whatever penalty comes with it - they really want to test out some of their ideas.
That's awesome. Ask forgiveness rather than permission.
I listened to Joe Buck on pardon my take and what he said was really interesting. Most people watch baseball with their home team announcers and get use to people going crazy for their team and matter of fact for the opposing team. It's hard to come across as neutral. If your team is getting beat, of course it sounds like the announcers are cheering for the other team, because they just cheer big plays. I'm not saying this to defend Joe Buck or high fives in the booth after a Hail Mary.
I think it would be great to have almost a stadium like announcer emotionlessly calling plays after the fact (40 yard touchdown from Hooker to Turner) and updating on injuries or other big developments (with one more completion Drew Brees will be the all-time completion leader in NFL history).
Yea, the guy I talked with says that the game viewing experience (both in person and on TV/Stream) is going to get way more personalized. Facial recognition technology is going to allow for a customized in-stadium experience similar to what you get at the college football hall of fame. You'll have a choice between 5+ different broadcasts (unbiased, biased for either team, coaches room, sky cam, etc), and you'll see targeted advertising. Your broadcast will be linked to your twitter so you can retweet awesome plays at the touch of the button.
VT radio broadcast has Luther Maddy, sideline reporter or something like that.
Last week my streaming sound was messed up so I found a streaming local radio station for the audio.
Was SIGNIFICANTLY better than listening to the usual audio broadcast of the game.
Will now become a regular feature at my house.
Probably the better idea for this week, since the "Hail Mary Hi-Five Hi-jinks" will be occurring on ESPN2
I am kind of surprised ESPN hasn't tried to negotiate some of the audio broadcasting rights for games. I get having crews for the big national games but I have always thought it might be cheaper (better?) to just buy the rights from IMG to use Mike and Laze or other local broadcast crews.
For the streaming only games it could make sense.
But I've seen a few NFL preseason games where they just get the radio guys to call the game for both TV and radio, and it gets a little intense. Obviously radio guys have to talk a lot more.
I had to listen to most of the Pitt game on the radio while driving home, and got home in time for the last couple of drives. It was strange shifting over to TV, because I had gotten so used to the rhythm of the radio guys.
I wish I could get the TV and radio to sync up more often, though. I remember the announcers for the Pitt game in 2017 were so bad I had to do that, and the radio matched up perfectly.
It seems that they should be able to easily toss an alternate audio stream onto the WatchESPN interface. They already do for English/Spanish announcers for many games, and for some they have 5-6 different streams going on (regular broadcast, Coaches' Room, All-22 view, homer announcers, etc), so there's precedence for it. It just makes too much sense not to try to license the radio feed to tack on as an additional option for some games.
Yeah, but then who would listen to Dusty Dvoracek's nonsense willingly?
Those who watch on the actual television would probably be locked into the regular broadcast
Why yes
yes, I would like to watch James Gayle give his commentary during the annual VT-UVa bludgeoning
I have a hard time imagining this wouldn't give me a cliche headache.
