I think most of us have gotten carried away with Hoo Hate Week that we aren't focusing on the game we have vs Michigan State in Maui at 5pm today.
Anybody have thoughts/insights/concerns?
I think if we can keep it within 10 late I'll be content given the drastic changes we've seen since March.

I'm just excited to see this team compete. I wasn't impressed with "world champion" Clemson, but I expected this team to struggle this year. CMY has had this team well coached and prepared which is impressive for a team this young. I'm expecting a blowout by a talented MSU team with arguably the best point guard in the country, but I'm looking forward to seeing how CMY approaches and adjusts to a tough opponent.
Relax and enjoy this one because no matter what, this game can only help us (which is so stupid, but who cares).
Bede defending Cassius Winston is going to be fun to watch. Winston is probably the Player of the Year favorite right now, but I think Bede is one of the best defenders in the country.
I think this is the key.
I feel when Winston gets annoyed he starts forcing especially against "better" competition. I'm not saying we are Kentucky or Seton hall, but we sure aren't Birmingham or Charleston Southern, so we will see. We need to defend and be on from 3. MSU shoots the 3 at a 29% clip.
And yes, I'm putting some cold hard cash on that +650 ML ($3 to be exact)

Worst-case scenario: We get beat pretty bad and Coach Young uses this as a teaching moment.
Hopeful scenario: We're competitive (within 10 points), and it's a big confidence boost for the program.
Best-case scenario: We pull a shocker and start dreaming of all the ACC titles we're going to win over the next 3-4 seasons.
3-4 seasons? You're selling us short, let's go 10-15 seasons

I posted about this in another thread; but I think we match up better with MSU than we will many ACC teams. They start 6'1, 6'8, 6;6, 6'8 and 6'2. We start 6'6, 6'7, 6'3, 6'0 and 6'1(Radford) or6'4(Wilkins) :
They do have a senior starting; but other than that they are young with 1 Jr, 2 Sophs and a Fr. Their 2 really tall players at 6' 11 and 7' have not played much:
They take about 25 3's per game and make 7 shooting 29% from 3; and they shout 47% overall. They have out rebounded their opponents by about 11 per game. We will have to shoot very well from 3 and fight like hell in the paint to keep it close.
Yeah, and here he is on a list of best players in the country (don't look at #7 tho): Winston
Most game previews talk specifically about MSU's size advantage - which just shows how lazy most previews are.
MSU is good in many ways, but they're not particularly long.

I think we will play them much better than a lot of people think. Bede is the best defender that Cash will play all year. Landers is a match up nightmare. They have more rebounding strength but we shoot more 3's and those are a different type of rebound. I give us a chance to stay close or even win.

Living in Detroit I have a lot of MSU co-workers and friends. Would love to win tonight, but need to put a damper on the true expectations here. We have been playing smart and efficient against the worst OOC schedule in the country. Winning big, but we have not been challenged. Tonight will be a challenge. Stay within 10 and I'll be ecstatic about the future.

I was very pleased with the 1st half. Very impressed with our composure and effort with the youth and size disadvantages we have.
However, I find it highly unlikely this continues after half. I think we have likely woken a sleeping giant.

What a first half. The thing that impressed me the most was our defense. We're playing a man/pack line type scheme (I think), and I'm amazed how disciplined and in-sync everyone is. Let's go hit some 3s in the second half!
