In a perfect world, the Hokies beat the Hoos at noon, then I get to flip between the Iron Bowl and UNC upsetting Duke at 3:30.
Six-day options for Duke-UNC and VT-Virginia. Noon or 3:30 on either ESPN2 or ESPNU.— Patrick Stevens (@D1scourse) November 18, 2013

If we get the 3:30 time slot then I should be able to make the trip down to Lane North to watch LT3, Exum, Ky Fuller, and the other senior's last regular season game and the Decade of Dominance!
I will be at Lan- err, I mean Scott Stadium for this game. Ratio guesses: VT/UVA. 70/30 sound about right?
No way, Joe.
We're tailgating this one.
Only got to eat lunch once this year.
3:30 #%^$ %&!
What is a tailgate at Virginia like?
for uva:

No wonder they got so mad about the Oregon fans throwing the football! Now it all makes sense!
Maybe I can tell you Sunday.
Hope you like Zima....
I don't know, never had it, or is that what's in the mason jar?
It will at my tailgate next weekend... ZOOM!
I remember someone commenting on the Oregon vs UVA game and saying even throwing a football around the parking lot was looked down upon. Sounds like Buzzkill, USA
Sounds eerily similar to what happened inside the stadium that day as well: they couldn't stop Oregon from moving the football.
Virginia Tech tailgates at UVA are awesome, and typically offend the natives.
Four years back, a buddy of mine had his normal setup - loud music, beer pong table, plenty of booze, etc. His group was the first tailgate setup in the lot (which was a stone's throw from the stadium in a big-donor lot). The UVA fans next to us with, quite literally, wine & cheese at their tailgate were quite unhappy.
And then we destroyed them 42-13.
It was glorious.
I'd like to think that we tanked the Maryland game on purpose just to give LOLUVA hope that they could win this year... And then we come out Thanksgiving weekend and crush them to complete the Decade of Dominance.
Honestly, I hope we get the noon time slot. Psychologically, it's better for our team to have no idea what's going on with Duke and focus on the fact that they have to just win. If Duke gets the noon slot and wins, I can see our guys coming out flat, realizing they blew it a couple times over. Stay focused. Stay calm and beat the Hoos.
I've heard that Saban pretty much treats every weekend like a faceless opponent, because his attitude is that if we execute our game, we will win by imposing our will on the other team.
Sounds like he's found a good strategy.
Definitely. I wish we could do the same. I think it's fairly clear when the guys are pumped up for a game and when they're not. They should be pumped up every week. For a while there, it looked like they were. Then, after some slip-ups, it's almost like they said to themselves "who are we kidding?" Sad to see, but I hope they bring their best for the hated rivals.
Add a handful of 5 star recruits and we can do the same ;-)
If it's 330 then I'll be heading north up 29 to DESTROY the hoos in hooville....LOLUVA
Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease don't be a nooner. I hate having to set an alarm on Saturdays :( Mountain Time can suck my non-existent nuts!
Joe, I just want to thank you for everything you do for this site. It's awesome.
Also, I just received my HOAT T-shirt in the mail! Pretty excited. Thanks for that as well :D
Go Hokies!!
Just to clarify what this means: If Duke beats Wake, they will be the 3:30 game and we will be the noon game. If they lose to Wake, then VT is back in the drivers seat and the VT/uva game is then the more important game.
(although, technically, Duke losing to Wake puts us behind in a very likely tiebreaker: 3-way with GT and Duke)
Duke losing to Wake is irrelevant as far as putting us in the driver's seat. The only one that matters is if Duke loses to UNC and we beat UVA.
Yeah I don't really understand why they went for the 6-day option..it really doesn't make any sense..I can't figure out what they're waiting on
On the contrary, Duke losing to Wake is very relevant. Although I don't think it will happen, but if Wake wins, the only scenario that doesn't result with VT in the driver's seat is Miami beating lolUva. Our chances are greater with a UNC over Duke win, but it basically boils down to this:
All of this includes VT needing to take care of b'ness against lolUva.
Well, if Duke beats Wake, then Duke is certainly in the drivers seat. But if they lose, it is going to create a tiebreaker and we win all tiebreakers but one (correction to my earlier post, it's actually the 4-way with GT, Duke and Miami), assuming we beat uva (which is what this is about, the importance of the uva/VT game).
So the uva/VT game is more important if Duke loses a game. If Duke doesn't lose the Wake game, then their UNC game is a pre-playoff game....survive and advance. If they do lose, our uva game is a de facto survive/advance scenario.
"Drivers Seat" was the wrong term, it just improves the perception of importance of the VT/uva game.
I agree, similar to my response above, I think the VT/lolUva game garners more attention if Wake beats Duke. That's why they're holding out the 6-day option.
