Lecht out there doing work already
ducks

So looks like he was already enrolled at Kansas.
Does that mean he'll have to sit out a year?
So the Hokie twitter accounts are saying Grad transfer, can play 2020.
Running back from out of state with dreadlocks and a little one in tow?
Has Darren Evans reentered the chat?
Wonder if this means McClease is expected to leave.
Should be able to play but don't sleep on the NCAAs ability to fuck us
Averaged 5.4 ypc over 3.33 seasons at Kansas
BC game.

Wow, no arm tackles and a quick burst. Thanks for posting
That summamabich is quick and decisive.
On the 80+ yarder I love how it wasn't one where as soon as he got passed the LOS there was no one left to challenge him. They made him earn it, and by gosh he did
The vision and patience getting beyond the LOS is what has me excited. Thanks for sharing!
Herbert ran for 291 against WVU in 2017 and 187 against BC this year!!!
So what happened in all of the other games?
Kansas happened
Fair enough. And very funny too.
I remember watching the BC game and thinking this guy's a load. But seriously, just like with HS kids, highlight film can be misleading. I'd be curious to see some other game film. Maybe Kansas happened, but maybe not. I mean if you just saw Travon McMillan highlights, you'd think he was sure 1st rounder.
That committed graphic is a solid look!
I feel good about adding a veteran RB to the room with all the rumored RB room attrition.
Looks solid in that BC video. Good pickup.
I'm assuming he played with Ryan Willis or at least knew him. I wonder how much of a factor that was.
Fuck yea Lechty the closer.
So I'm guessing there's going to be a 3 headed monster with Lee, King, and Herbert....sounds like a law firm..lol
Let's call our running back room "The Firm" next year.
I like that a lot better than "the untouchables"...
...but is it better than "Jones, Suggs, and harmony"?
the answer is no...i don't even know who harmony is, but this is the best name i have ever heard.
And they didn't even use it! It lost the contest to The Untouchables.
Damn. i forgot about "Jones, Suggs, n Harmony"...it's a play off of these guys:
Tahj Gary would like a word with you......
Yeah I'm.excited to see him enter the fray
Wow...I forgot all about Gary...So a 4 headed monster..
So we've gone from Cerberus to a Hydra?
He only played in 4 games this year but averaged over 8 yards a carry.
Does anybody have insight why he only played 4 games? Injury? Crowded RB room?
***did a quick Bing search (yes...Bing)
It looks like it was to redshirt? Does that matter with a grad transfer? Also his nickname is "Juice".
He redshirted to gain an extra year to grad transfer I'm pretty sure.
I heard he wanted to come back but Les said no because he gave up on the year. Kansas fans are pissed. That story doesn't make much sense to me unless he is trying to game his career to a grad degree and in that case, what a smart move. Either way I'm really excited to have him.
SOLID GET!! He didn't look like a 3-star in that BC game!
That's because star ratings are based on their projected ability/impact coming out of high school (or juco), not where they are as a grad transfer at 21 or 22 or whatever he is.
Honestly, the fact that he WAS a three star recruit is utterly meaningless now - in neither a good nor bad way.
The recruiting services will be reassigning star ratings before long since the transfer market is getting so big.
honestly shocked they haven't already...even Juco rankings seem to be lacking compared to HS.
Don't be too shocked- 247 started doing it last year.
Good point.
100% - his star rating 4 + years ago means nothing. His college tape is what you evaluate now. He was a preseason candidate for all Big 12 and decided to shut it down and take his redshirt and grad transfer - don't know exactly why. This is a good deal for us
Praise be to Portal for this good fortune.
Praise Portal!
Agreed. AND...y'all don't get to flip this on Fu when players start hitting the portal for VT. There HAVE to be at least a couple RBs that hit the portal. That room is too crowded right now unless guys start switching positions. KH is a STUD Though FR.
I wasn't all that excited when I saw we landed a grad transfer.
Then I watched the BC highlights. Pretty great combo of being explosive,
elusive and powerful.
Well done!
Was there any hints of this commitment?
Didn't he kinda quit on Kansas? Four games to redshirt without Les Miles knowledge, then told the team right before the 5th game?
It's a bit of a confusing situation. He made the decision to redshirt based on unspecified personal reasons. He intended to redshirt and return to the team (Kansas) next season. Khalil seems to believe this was understood.
The confusing part is Khalil believed he would be coming back and Kansas believed he was transferring anyway, so they are not keeping a scholarship for him. I think, anyway.

In line with the "quitting" remark; his personal reason is a secret, so unless we believe that his reason was less important than football, it's probably best to stay away from that sort of description.
This is a VERY underrated player.
This is a win. Raises expectations in the run game. Also a solid roster management move as he will only have one year at VT. Assuming he comes to block AND run I'm all in here. If the line improves as it should the run game can take a leap forward.
I had BC -19.5 against Kansas this year. This guy owes me money, fair is fair.
You made the all too common mistake of betting on ACC teams not named Clemson OOC
BC highlight video
Crazy how Lecht got this kid start to finish in just one day on the job wow
But can he pass block?
Can he play in our bowl game?
s/ sorta
How is he with boxing gloves on sticks?
can he make a man miss?
Indeed. He's fast...he makes men miss, AND he breaks tackles. Appears to be a skilled playa'
He was considered the top player in the portal.
Praise Portal.
Rip Sharkbait
Ah fuck. Hope I'm wrong but The portal giveth and the portal taketh. I expect a big taketh now.
We've already had a few people pop into the portal soooo we've given our tithe I think. Right? Right??????
so we're just going to forget last offseason?
It resets every season. You clearly didnt read the rules.
Whispers so DC doesn't hear *
None of the transfers last year had a big impact on this team or the team they joined.
does trevon hill count? not that i wanted to keep him around, just asking
1) wasn't a true transfer as he didn't have the option to stay 2) I don't think he had that big an impact for Miami or loss on our line this year.
Even taking 10 snaps a game on obvious passing downs would have been helpful. He had 4.5 sacks for Miami -- not negligible. When you consider our DL struggled to generate pass rush on the edges, I don't think it's fair to say he wasn't a notable loss. For reference, Belmar led the DEs in sacks at 4.
edit: also have to imagine that having watts on the roster as a depth piece would have been nice.
The RB room is gonna be good next year with Herbert, King and Gary plus the return of Holston. A lot of people have forgotten about Jalen. I don't think we will see the return of McClease, Steward, and Beck.
Rumor is Holston may be done with football.
Interestingly enough, he had responded to this tweet with something like "Guess I gotta prove myself again".
I was going to push that and say it didn't sound like he was done.
That tweet is now gone.
Getting Hebert, having King, Gary, possibly Holston and/or McClease might allow VT to redshirt any incoming Fr RBs that aren't absolutely ready. It seems like we have been forced to play a lot of younger kids too many snaps before they are fully ready.
I think Herbert and JUCO commit Marco Lee we're pursued to address that youth issue.
As of right now, assuming Clease hangs it up or goes NFL, we are on pace to have a RB room that would be grad transfer Herbert, sophomore King, and junior (? I haven't checked his exact eligibility status) Marco Lee as a potential 3deep. That allows us to layer in Gary and give some freshmen some game action. I originally thought Jordan Brunson might play a lot early, but we addressed the "big back" role with Lee.
Obviously who ends up earning the most carries is TBD, but I think we specifically tried to address how young our RB room was looking next season.
