Herbert.
Likely get carries next yr, and interested in what he brings to the table. Plus lots of film on him against P5 competition.
1.) Alphabetical Order
2.) Cake or Pie
3.) What they bring to the table
4.) How are they likely to be utilized throughout their Hokie careers/closest former/current Hokie comparison
5.) Redshirt likelihood
6.) There is no 6
Wilfried Pene
Alec Bryant -- he's our highest rated recruit in this class so far and it all came together late.
I would love to know why he dropped so much in rankings in the last year. He used to be a .97 by 247 now is an .89. Did something happen and we got a steal for our scheme?
247 gave him a 93 in 2013 (???) and then rerated him to a 91 in the summer and then 88 on sunday. i think you are referring to the composite rating, but either way he showed a drop -- big time early ratings are usually projection based and sometimes a development plateaus or a player doesn't fill out a frame or grow like recruiting service might expect.

Yes I was looking at composite. I am aware that plateaus happen and I worry about it with Texas players since football is so big there that a lot of players hit plateaus earlier because their training is more advanced which puts them further ahead of players from other states so some times a player of a similar rating from another state will skyrocket in ability once they are in a proper training program.
So I'd love to see a film review of his jr to sr year to see if things changed, like he played out of position one year, or he was asked to do different things that we probably wouldn't have him do(hard to know this with coaching turn over)
Pene. Pene. Pene. Then Bailey.
As always Joe/French and whomever else is involved in these articles, and especially these involve-the-fam interactive articles, many thanks for your hard work and listening to the community. Truly a difference maker compared to the content of other sites, VT or not.
Very interested in Pene since there's so little tape / known about him. Also interested in Strong as I think his tape is very good, just seems undersized (developed? Maybe once Hilgartified he'll be better off). I'll drop in Beadles too.
Spoiler alert: I really like Beadles, especially against the run.
DEs. Big need and we just added a few.
Can we just do one big film review of the running back room, both recruits and current guys?
That's a solid idea, but it's prudent to hold on that for a bit.
kede!!!!!!!!!!!!! kede!!!!!!!!!!!! kede!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (keonta)
I'm really interested to see what you think of his film I know ive got my 904 and hokies glasses and my that's my boy glasses and on when I watch it so it makes it double hard for me to evaluate him.
Derrell Bailey Jr.
Alec Bryant
Robert Wooten
Khalil Herbert
Wilfried Pene
Justin Beadles
Showtime Saunders
Derrell Bailey Jr.
He's local to me (and there ain't been many of those) and everyone I have talked to (mainly Greenback teachers) speaks highly of him, so really want to see a success story here. As in redshirt first year and out pops Tremaine Edmunds part deux in year deux.
For next year excitement Herbert obviously.
Moore. Looks like a guy that physically is ready and will get early burn.
Yeah I would be interested in this as well and whether or not he projects more to the OL or DL..
Moore looks like he's going to need some time on technique. He's quick to get to his block, bi then his feet momentarily stop while he presses the defender with his arms. Once he gets the defender in the position he wants, his feet get moving again. Then he throws them around. Once he reaches competition that can match his strength, I have a feeling neither the press or the throwing will happen. He's going to need to work on his feet and adapt what he's doing after contact to the higher levels of competition.
I'll be interested to hear what he's like in his first offseason conditioning. Sometimes those 300+ guys need to reshape some of that 300. I'm no expert on OL but I know with DT's and OL sometimes it takes a year or two to shift that 300 from a high school 300 to a P5 300.
These last two seasons have already broken me down enough.
But seriously Herbert would be cool.
Pene and Strong. Neither played against decent HS comp but Pene looks like an amazing athlete and Fuente singled out Strong in his presser.
Someone on twitter said Pene was a really good wrestler also.
There's a joke to be made here.
