I was going to say no reflective belt.
No gloves, no chaps, no noise canceling headphones...damn. I'm just now realizing that I did it wrong for almost 50 years without a splinter in my eye or serious injury beyond an occasional shin bark, and I split the preponderance of the wood I burned in that time. No wedge, no splitter, just a splitting maul and a love of the act of splitting good wood. While I don't miss wood heat, the mess and the work, I do miss the immediate heat and the physical experience of splitting and hauling the wood.
Also, are those steel-toe boots?
I'm sure all that safety stuff would slow him down, though.
