Kyle Fuller Underwent Surgery

Virginia Tech Hokies football, basketball, athletics blog and forum featuring: unique columns, breaking news, film studies, in-depth analysis, recruiting, videos and jokes.

So this happened.

If it takes him the full 4-6 weeks to heal before he can step back on the field, it's possible he might not only miss the Virginia game, but Tech's bowl game too. Kyle's groin has kept him sidelined for almost all of the last four games.

This is not the way anyone wants to see a four year starter end a tremendous career.

I wish Kyle the best of luck for a speedy recovery, and perhaps we'll get to see him in the maroon and orange one last time.

Hyping up Hokie Nation one video at a time.

Alright, we've reached a critical point. We need to finish our cloning research immediately. We need more Fullers, and we need them now.

But it all seriousness, I hope he has a speedy and full recovery, that's a lousy way to end his senior year.

There's always a lighthouse. There's always a man. There's always a city.

What about Adibi's? And maybe a Vick cloned with a conscience?

The Dude Abides

I'll add it to the to-do list.

There's always a lighthouse. There's always a man. There's always a city.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery, Kyle. I am very sad that I won't see him again in a Hokie uniform, but man has it been fun watching him play these last few years.

"Exit light..."

Hell of a way to end a career. Selfishly I want to see him in O&M one more time, but for his future's sake I doubt that will happen. At least we can watch him on Sundays! Speedy recovery 3rd Fuller.

Note: Maybe we WILL see him in O&M again. After Beamer retires, Foster goes to HC, Torrian to DC and Kyle Fuller to DB Coach????

I hope that Kyle has a long NFL career and then comes back to coach at Tech.

In Sam Rogers we trust.

Good luck, Kyle.

Feel really bad for Kyle. Hope he will be ok to play for the bowl game.

@AMB4VT

FACT...Kyle Fuller makes this team better by being on the field.

The Hokies miss him. Hope for speedy recovery, and hope draft stock isn't hurt.

Leonard. Duh.

It's true. We started losing games (save for Miami) when he left. He's a force to be reckoned with on the field.

CRAP

In all seriousness, he's in my thoughts & prayers for a speedy recovery.

Gosh, Kyle was in Philly and he didn't give me a heads up? I would have stopped by his hospital room with flowers fist bumps and high fives and grunts and other man stuff...

He will be missed wearing the Orange and Maroon. Best wishes in your recovery, and good luck in the Pros!

I'm not going to cry. I am not going to cry. Damn it all!

If only Sam Rogers could donate a bit of his blood, alas, no needle are sharp enough to puncture his skin.

I support Logan Thomas and make no apologies for it.

FUCK SHIT COCK BALLS why is everything so awful right now

Hey! Earmuffs!

Sorry, didn't mean to abuse it

6 weeks from this Tuesday is December 31st. Looks like we need to make the Chick-Fil-A Bowl (Dec 31st, #UNCBeatDuke) or the Orange Bowl (Jan 3rd, #UNCBeatDuke #BeatFSU) to see Kyle in maroon and orange one last time. Make it happen!

I hate to see this happen to one of my all time favorite players. Kyle always did what was asked of him. Whether that was playing Whip, Corner, or being one of our best special teams players. He has proved his ability when he has been fully healthy. He was playing at an all American level before his injury this year. Let's hope he has a great recovery and even if he isn't able to suit up for the Hokies anymore, that he will be playing on Sundays for years to come.

this pretty much sums up how I feel. My only hope and prayer is for a quick and successful recovery so I can watch you on Sundays.

Wagon's full and Momma I'm coming home.

UVA: Jefferson's biggest mistake

That's how Kyle reacted when the doctor said 4-6 weeks.

This was a punch to the gut this morning. I am so grateful that we were able to see him at his best earlier in the year. I was so looking forward to a fully recovered #17 wreaking havoc in LOLUVA's backfield. Hopefully, surgery went well, and a nice Sunday contract await. Thank you, Kyle Fuller.

Take the shortest route to the ball and arrive in bad humor.

Any chance AJ Hughes can play in Kyle Fuller's spot?

I support Logan Thomas and make no apologies for it.

Sam Rogers is already practicing at CB and Whip simultaneously.

Word is he is also going to thrown a touchdown pass to himself against LOLUVA.

Solution to the FG kicking situation: MANBEARPIG chucks Rogers towards the uprights from midfield (it wouldn't be fair if it were any closer). Due to the sheer degree of awesomeness, it is worth 4 points.

"Exit light..."

When done in opposite fashion... would it be worth more points or fewer?

No, I *don't* want to go to the SEC. Why do you ask?

We don't love dem Hoos.

Sam Rogers would never throw MANBEARPIG for fear of killing everyone in the endzone stands.

"Exit light..."

He is one of the toughest Tech players of all time, if not the toughest. I have no doubt that if he plays the bowl game, a Hokie win is entirely possible.

In Sam Rogers we trust.

I put Logan and his consecutive start streak up there. 38 and counting with the punishment he takes playing QB and running back.

One of my favorite Hokies of all time. All the best Kyle, the third of the Four Horsemen, er...Fullers

21st century QBs Undefeated vs UVA:
MV7, MV5, LT3, Grant Wells, Braxton Burmeister, Ryan Willis, Josh Jackson, Jerod Evans, Michael Brewer, Tyrod Taylor, Sean Glennon, and Grant Noel. That's right, UVA. You couldn't beat Grant Noel.

I'm not a trainer but Kyle playing: CB, Whip, playing up near the LoS, playing physical, not getting many snaps off due to lack of depth (at Whip), and then having to play numerous roles on specials teams had to have upped the likely hood he would wear down or get injured.

He was awesome when healthy.

That's silly in my opinion. I don't see how his playing time or position in the past would lead to his groin injury this season. That's like saying Bo Jackson had a career ending injury because he played baseball and football. Truth is it was just a single play that had disastrous consequences, but it wasn't more or less likely to happen on any given play of his career. Sometime injuries are related to prior events (especially concussions), but there's no evidence supporting that being the case in this instance.

Joffrey, Cersei, Ilyn Payne, the Hound, Jeff Jagodzinski, Paul Johnson, Pat Narduzzi.

Yeah I don't remember him having any outstanding health issues before.

I don't remember Kyle having a sudden significant injury. But maybe I've blocked it out.

I'm worried about his draft stock and NFL career. Sad :(

True Hokies STICK IT IN!!!

STICK IT IN Army of Virginia Tech

Anyone doubting his ability should watch the Bama and GiT game films. Full blown beast mode in both.

Godspeed young man!

I'm sorry to hear that he had to undergo surgery. Kyle Fuller has been a tremendous member of the football team and community in Blacksburg and this is one of the worst ways a senior could leave college. Hopefully he will be healthy in time for the bowl game but I wouldn't be surprised if he's finished his collegiate career.

At the same time, I'm looking at this as a blessing in disguise. The absence of Fuller means there's more opportunities for non-graduating players. The only two goals this team should currently have are to win every remaining game and to develop the non-graduating players to create the strongest foundation for spring ball. (I know, I'm stating the obvious)

I don't believe we need Kyle Fuller to be competitive against UVA and whatever opponent we face in our bowl game (My flippant prediction is the Chick-Fil-A Bowl against TAMU). No Kyle Fuller means practice snaps and playing time is given to Brandon Facyson, Kendall Fuller and Donovan Riley. Those guys have played above expectations for freshman, the experience will make them even stronger going forward.

He was MVP of this team. This sucks, and I feel real bad for him. I will cherish his time as a Hokie and probably my favorite Hokie of all time. Maybe he can get back for one more. I hope so.

I hate this for Kyle. he has been my favorite player the past few years. I hate seeing this happen to him. I hope that he can recover and have a good combine.

I'm in shock too like everyone here I didn't think it was that bad. I hope he can recover and continue his football career

tyrod did it mikey! tyrod did it!

anybody know what's going on with tone's ankle? he gonna be able to go in cville?

"That kid you're talking to right there, I think he played his nuts off! And you can quote me on that shit!" -Bud Foster

Damn, this is sad news - it's a shame we won't be able to enjoy watching Kyle play another game at Virginia Tech. Hopefully, Kendall stays at least another year so we can continue to enjoy the Fuller family tradition of defensive excellence.

Touchdown Tech - Bill Roth

Kendall has to stay at least 2 more years before he's eligible for the draft. So we've got that going for us.
