Cory Wong dropped Elevator Music for an Elevated Soul today and I'm already on my second listen. It's just so darn fun. Can't wait to see him live in a few weekends in Brooklyn!

For the Tyler Childers fans: check out Zach Bryan and Evan Felker.
Is Felker better?
Better than?
Like he's gotten through his battle with alcohol/drugs?
Don't let Evan's "new" single fool you. It was recorded before he went into rehab. There are talks that he's improving, but no official statement.
Thanks for clearing that up. I sure hope he's improving. I know it's a long road ahead for him.
Didn't even know that was a thing. My knowledge of music and musicians pretty much ends at their songs.
For example....I just learned he is/was TT lead singer so that's how informed I am.
I'm usually like that but have gotten into reading stuff on savingcountrymusic.com recently. In case you are interested. https://www.whiskeyriff.com/2019/05/13/fans-plead-with-evan-felker-of-th...
I said in the '19 thread but damn I hope he gets everything straightened out. Such a gifted dude.
Not exactly new music here, but on Feb 29, I'll be checking out Old Crow Medicine Show.
Hype!
Jason Boland and the Stragglers are doing a nationwide tour to celebrate the 20th year since their debut album. Luckily they will be in Richmond. Very excited for the show. Flatland Cavalry is also in Richmond that week as well.
Jason Boland is fantastic live. Hoping to catch the Virginia Beach show.
Gojira and Deftones are dropping new albums this year๐
Dude, I'm pumped. Steph is actually going to be allowed to riff again on this one apparently.
Came here to mention Deftones drop. Actually listening to Diamond Eyes right now. None of their other albums can stand up to Around the Fur in my opinion, but that's also probably influenced a bit by nostalgia on my part.
My favorite Deftones album is Koi No Yokan
Adrenaline and Around the Fur are my favorites. I have too many memories of having Adrenaline on repeat playing Zelda when it first came out attached to my brain matter. I didn't really like Gore at all. I'm a HUGE fan and I can't just get into it. Chino has plenty of side projects to experiment with instead of forcing Steph's riffage down. I really hope this one is a banger. Chino of course won't be able to cut loose like he used to but, I'd still like to hear some wicked guitar work.
I liked the self titled album lot also. But that could just be because I love the song Minerva so I give the whole album more credit than it may deserve.
I like self titled alot as well if i had to make a list i would go
1. Koi No Yokan
2. White pony
3. Around the fur
4. Adrenaline
5. Self titled
6. Diamond Eyes
7. Gore
8. Saturday night wrist
Oh, and Slipknot and Lamb of God are also dropping albums in 2020. Slipknot album is apparently made up of tracks that didn't make the cut on their last two albums.
A B-side album by slipknot? Holy Shit!
Right? I remember a buddy on my high school lacrosse team giving me a burned copy of the self titled album, having never heard of them before, and just thinking where have you been all my life once (Sic) started ripping in the car ride home that day.
That album is a straight up banger๐
Just turned it on real loud in my home office. Productivity has ceased. I need to run through a wall now.
Just wait for spit it out to come on๐
I just read back through this. Not gonna lie, I don't know how many projects I've completed to my Pandora Slipknot station. That is always my leave me alone and wish I was Joey while working as my feet twitch.
Here you go fellas.... https://www.revolvermag.com/music/45-most-anticipated-albums-2020
I was today years old when I learned Ice-T has a metal band. And this is why I love this site.
I also did not know this until I read this list.
2020 has given me the most mind-boggling collabs I can think of: Ke$ha, Sturgill Simpson, and Brian Wilson. It's called Resentment and it's one of the finer songs I've heard in a bit.
Beach Slang has a new album coming out that in interested in. KISS is coming to Raleigh next month and I'm considering going to that. Brian Fallon is also coming to town soon and I've already got my tickets.
Anybody like post rock? Caspian dropping their first album in five years later this month, first single was fiery
What is post rock?
after rock
Oh yes! How silly of me.
Sure he didnt mean a post between two rocks?
Lol the name sounds way too indie but it's just instrumental music
I hope A7X new album is good
You can hope in one hand and shit in the other, see which one fills up first. A7X just isn't good since the Rev died.
Nightmare was a really good album
Neil Peart died today ๐ข๐ข๐ข๐ข
just read this. never liked Rush much but he was top shelf.
This sucks. I love Rush.
I made sure to listen to Moving Pictures during my commute yesterday when I heard about this.
Mac Miller's album on the 17th is something I'm very sad and happy about it. The leaks and the single released yesterday make me very excited to hear the full album but Mac's death is one that hit me extremely hard. His family has gone about releasing this music the right way and I think it will do it justice. But man, it's tough.
Seeing Sturgill and Childers in Charlotte in March. I'm a big Childers fan and saw him in Richmond summer of 18 and he was great. Excited to see him again. I like Sturgill, but have no idea what to expect out of a live performance, especially with the last album he dropped. I liked it, but it'll certainly be an odd combo with his older stuff. Should be interesting.
I think chevelle is also releasing a new album this year as well
Deftones as well. They are touring in May so I'm hoping it drops sooner than later. Apparently they are going to let Steph start riffing again so that is a good thing.
Even tho I think ohms is a better album Gore is still a pretty good album imo
Pearl Jam releases a new album, Gigaton, end of March.
I bought tickets through Ticketmaster today for their Nashville show in early April. First time I have bought 'verified' tickets, that you pre-register to buy...trying to eliminate scalpers. I was 2nd person in queue, and then Ticketmaster's website had technical difficulties, and the queue was gone. It was a free for all. I went from being second in line, to getting nosebleed seats.
It's a nice thought, eliminating scalping and letting true fans buy tickets at face value, but Ticketmaster failed by selling all concerts at the same time, instead of one at a time....which their website couldn't handle.
The only thing I've heard so far is Dance of the Clairvoyants. Definitely not a fan of it as a Pearl Jam song.
Try listening to it as a Talking Heads song, Eddie even really goes for the David Byrne voice.
It's not a bad song as someone else's song. It's not a Pearl Jam song. The guitars barely exist in it.
Avenged sevenfold released a B side album today
It's actually pretty good
New Green Day dropped today. Made it 4 songs in and turned it off. Not a fan.
I never did like green day
Dookie was one if the first albums I ever bought and I still listen to it. Same with Insomniac. I know all bands change over time but this new sound just doesn't work for me.
Their last listenable album was American Idiot imo and that got played into the dirt.
I liked Revolution Radio. Not a great album but it had some good songs that captured their earlier sound from Dookie and Insomniac. But yeah, it's been awhile since they have a really good album.
The new Futurebirds record is phenomenal. They are a bit of an american/psych-rock band, skewing more towards the former on record these days.

Also the new John Moreland out today sounds great one listen through. Nothing extraordinarily new for him, but he's still one of the best songwriters working today imo.

Primus is on tour this year and they are going to be in Charlotte Asheville and Raleigh in early june๐๐๐๐๐๐
I just found a band called The Stone Eye today and i gotta say they sound really good ๐
Anyone ever listened to Caamp? They're from Athens, Ohio. They've been around since 2016 I believe but are really starting to pick up steam right now.
Went to the Sturgill Simpson and Tyler Childers concert last night at the Hornets' arena. Truth be told, that was a Childers concert that Sturgill just happened to play after. Childers went on at 7:30 and the place was packed to the brim and rocking the whole time. By the end of Sturgill's set it was probably 60-70% full. I think Sturgill relishes in the fact that he's so damn out there. Like, "yeah, people started leaving...but they don't understand art" or something like that. Dude is so damn talented, but good god man.
TLDR; Tyler Childers is a superstar. Sturgill Simpson is a different duck.
With deftones new album most likely coming out next month and gojira releasing a new song and Mastodon releasing a rarity album next month it's time to revive this thread๐
I heard Nickelback was releasing something fresh
๐ฟ
I heard Nickelback was taking a fresh shit on a record
I don't think I've ever heard Nickleback and "fresh" in the same sentence.
I just started hitting on the new Deftones album last week, man, it's killer.
Got me feeling nostalgic and pulling out some of the bands I used to listen to back in the day. Isis, Dillinger Escape Plan, Converge
The whole album is a banger. My least favorite song off the album (Headless) is still a pretty good song
These deftones lyrics teases are killing me๐ข
https://liveforlivemusic.com/news/carl-dufrene-anders-osborne-north-miss...
Any festival goers may recognize Carl. Very sad. He was always a fun listen/watch.
Deftones are dropping their lead single for the new album called Ohms๐๐๐๐ค๐ค๐ค๐ค๐๐
1 MINUTE
Deftones single number 2 comes out next Friday๐๐๐ค๐ค
This album hit different for me. Usually only two or three songs from each Deftones album actually move the needle for me (with the exception of Diamond Eyes. That album slays front to back IMO).
It took a few times before anything on Ohms hit for me but now I love most songs on the album.
Yeah this album is a grower. But now it's 3rd favorite deftones albums and Ceremony and Radiant City are in my top 5 deftones songs๐ค
Definitely Rock album of the year imo
In case anyone hasn't watched it on HBO yet, do yourself a favor and check out David Byrne's American Utopia.
You're welcome.
If you don't have HBO, the music is streaming on amazon, but the visuals are killer in the show.
Week or so old now, but Sturgill's bluegrass album, Cuttin' Grass, pump into my veins.
That album is so good. Really like how he covered some of his old hits bluegrass style and hadn't heard some of his earlier bluegrass stuff when he was in another band I think.
Between that and Tyler childers newest release my wife is learning to really love bluegrass
It's having the opposite effect on my wife...
In my workshop after the boy goes to bed, I'm usually cranking 1 of 4 things.... Tyler Childers, Sturgill Simpson, Billy Strings....or the Hamilton soundtrack...
Love Billy Strings. That guy is super-talented.
Got to see he and Marcus King do a set together at Rooster Walk a couple years ago. He whipped out an electric guitar about halfway through and oh. My. Word. Absolutely amazing. And I'd be remiss without saying King ripped it up as well.
Nice, I almost saw Billy Strings last year at the Norva but couldnt make it. Then was set to see Sturgill Simpson and Tyler Childers at the Hampton Coliseum, until the pandemic cancelled the show
I dig that album so much. I watched his live session online a few weeks back at the Ryman when he played those songs first. So good. Sierra Hull is the mandolin player on this, and she's something else.
Another great year for EDM. Several solid singles out by Brooks, Kaivon, Win & Woo to name a few. Louis the Child mixtape is fire but the album is kinda meh.
Really looking forward to my favorite artist Codeko dropping an album this winter.
Its finally here - Only a few tracks in but this is exactly what I needed today... Its a good way to take my mind off the state of the football program.
typically not my taste, but the Karen O/Willie Nelson cover of Under Pressure is great
Just preordered the 20th anniversary of white pony that comes with a remix album called Black Stallion
Nice! Any idea what the digital format is going to be? Would be nice if its in FLAC or WAV, and not some higher-res MP3 release.
I mean you can find some high quality leaks near album release that would be a FLAC file
would rather pay for it to continue to entice the industry to keep moving in that direction, but I know its a low probability. I just paid $17 for the new ACDC release but its easily justifiable to me - twice the resolution as whatever apple will master for only $7 more, and also not having to spend $35 for the vinyl on day one.
I got ya. I only listen to a leak if i preordered the album already
Hi-Res Deftones
Didn't realize they had the entire catalog of studio albums in this format.
it baffles me that more bands/labels don't use bandcamp. only platform that encourages people to pay for music and the easiest way to get whatever lossless or lossy file-type you want
Thanks for reminding me about bandcamp actually. There's a couple CDS I gotta buy from a band called the stone eye who I highly recommend for anyone who likes stoner rock/grunge๐ค
There goes $60 (vinyl) I had not been expecting to spend today. Love a lot of the artists doing the remixes.
They just released passenger (Mike Shinoda remix) just an hour ago if you wanna give it a listen
And it's a banger๐ค
I dig both it and the Purity Ring remix of Knife Party a lot, really excited to hear the rest!!
I think I like the knife party remix better. Passenger remix is great but that knife party remix is en fuego.
I never been a fan of knife party and passenger is my favorite deftones song so I might be a little bit bias ๐ but the bass drop when Maynard hits the chorus got me like ๐๐
Yeah, I mean Deftones + Maynard...chefskiss.gif
You right
Bleachers just dropped two singles yesterday, including one featuring Bruce Springsteen, probably the most Jersey song ever
Anyone check out the new Busta Rhymes album, ELE 2? Its pretty good for an old dude. Politically charged though, so be warned.
Bought 4 more CDS for my birthday. My CD collection grows STRONGER HAHAHAHAHA๐๐๐๐๐ค๐ค
Damn Should have gotten S&M2๐
My main 2020 vibe has been Phoebe Bridger's Punisher
Lately, Nanowar of Steel's Valhalleluja, Uranus, and Norwegian Reggaeton.
