Hopefully this won't be as heated as the cake vs. pie debate, but for the gamers here, what next gen console are you buying and why? I'm a happy Xbox 360 owner, but am on the fence between PS4 and Xbox One.

PS4. No question. Im just not buying into what Microsoft is trying to do with the XB1. But I think I'm gonna wait until more games come out for the system and they get some updates under their belts
Currently Xbox 360. But I have 2 of them (long story) so I am thinking about selling one of them and getting a PS4 in about a year or so when the price is down.
Will pay with bourbon
Probably the XBox One first, but even then I'll wait a bit. I have a lot of games I currently need to clear through, and getting a new console/set of games won't help that at all.
GAME CUBE
Sega Saturn > Game Cube
tic
PS4 and it's not even close
I will probably pick up a PS4 in a year or so after developers have worked out all the kinks and familiarized themselves with the hardware. Who knows, the XB1 could turn out to be significantly better and cause me to rethink my decision. The whole Big Brother aspect of that system creeps me out a little too much.
I will say this: Watching videos of the launch titles can best be described as graphics porn. Unreal.
Commodore 64 is dope!!!! you should check that out for sure.
Hells yeah!
International Karate!

River Raid!
and the World's Greatest Baseball Game (that is the actual name of the game)
Oh dude i had that!
CONTRA!!
My brother and I spent the better part of a year mastering the various events. Most difficult for me was that damn hacky sack
but I was absolute boss at skating

and surfing.
Hacky sack barely takes more energy in real life than it does in that game.
I've pretty much given up on trying to catch up to you on Turkey Legs.
You'll get me in the next couple months leading up to Chinese New Year at end of Jan. I am absolutely swamped. Apologies about Beijing too. That week got so crazy and ended up going the opposite direction down to South China that has led to a project in Indonesia. Flying to Jakarta in 2 weeks.... so damn busy.
Did jet lag wipe you out this time too?
Well, there was this:

I think I am mostly back on track, though. For a while I was waking up anywhere between 2am and 5am. The GF loved that.
Dreamcast?
Gamecast?
#TeamCake
Current 360 owner..leaning towards the XB1 but won't buy until next year some time.
PC.
Join the dark side.
I have tried
All the online games + the fun of being able to build your own rig and do whatever you want with it. Far better than these expensive, store-bought consoles.
Especially the big brother xbox one...
I got too frustrated with the controls when I tried with BF3. Maybe if i played more
w-a-s-d, all day, every day.
Though it depends on what you play - or you get one of these crazy half-mouse/half-keyboard controllers:
Razer Stuff
It's a difficult change when you have played with a controller for almost 20 years. I could not take the .2 - .3 K/D for very long
You can buy a separate controller. Hell, even an XBOX one and can have it going with your games with minimal configuration. Had a friend do that for his new PC until he got used to the mouse and keyboard and never looked back.
See? The power and flexibility of a PC.
I did do that but i was still at a disadvantage. I know the PC way is "better".
And you can use your PC for way more than gaming
I'll add another disclaimer. Thank you :)
1) Pie
2) PS1
3) N64 - just for drinking game Goldeneye. And if you used proximity mines or played as Oddjob, you are a dick.
Ah yes, Goldeneye!
The silent pulling of the pin on hand grenades was great. There's nothing more satisfying than tossing a perfectly timed hand grenade and having it blow up right in someone else's face (except for maybe someone trying to do the same to you and having the grenade blow up in their hand).
Now we have a conundrum...
GoldenEye... or Perfect Dark?
Perfect Dark = "it's Goldeneye but we let you fall off of ledges now!!! Also, there's a bullshit shoot-through-anything sniper rifle"
I wish i had times for videogames. Our football team sucks all of my energy from me then you throw in work, needy girlfriends, nieces, and sleep and I'm cashed.
More than one needy girlfriend? You devil

It has single handedly decreased my company's stock price 2% over the last year. Decreased productivity, it'll get after ya!
I've been a longtime XBox 360 guy, and a huge fan of the Elder Scrolls games (Skyrim, etc), so I was leaning towards the XBox One because of the online one coming out soon. Also love it for the ESPN app, Netflix, Amazon Streaming video, all that multimedia stuff.
I am expecting my son to be born Dec 11th, so buying one was definetely on the back burner, probably until bonus time next year. But my wife called me the other day and told me that she had won either an XBox or PS4 in a drawing at work. She was bummed because she wanted to win the trip that was the grand prize, but I was doing cartwheels in my office. Talk about an awesome surprise. Even better she said "I guess now we need to finally get a bigger TV too for Christmas" :)
So I am going to pick my Xbox up on Friday.
Honey, we don't need a bigger TV as the baby is on the way and we need to save money. But if that is what you want, this 80" TV looks great for our living room.
Can't tell if your wife actually answered you via TKP or this is just awesome sarcastica
def not his wife.
I am just helping him score some points with his wife. haha /s
Elder Scrolls games are awesome on the PC. The modding community that has sprung up around them is fantastic, and Steam now even has the Workshop for Skyrim which is an officially sponsored mod manager, which automatically integrates with the game and also automatically downloads updates as the mod authors release them.
Pretty much anything you can imagine can be implemented into Skyrim.
Currently a PS3 owner. I have nothing against it, and I would definitely get a PS4 if it was just for gaming. But I am looking for more of a home entertainment system than just a gaming console. There are couple deal breaker for me between xbox 1 and ps4.
1) xbox one supports DLNA functionality which I use heavily
2) xbox one has espn3/watchespn app which comes in handy for all exclusive espn3 broadcasts of VT football/basketball games
All of the games that I play are usually available for both console, so choices of game aren't that important to me as well.
I will still wait for few months to a year before buying either of the system as the prices will likely drop.
Did someone call me? I thought I heard my name.
My two cents worth is PS4 due to better single player games of late.
"And I'm a sneaky little bee...bzzzz bzzzz"
Probably one of my favorite SP episodes in a while
The one about when the Wii was released and Cartman freezing himself was insane too
"you otters may have evolved to the point of being able to talk, but you don't have to whisper."
Xbox360. But PS4 does sound interesting...
The XBox One is $617 at Walmart... You do realize that for the same price you could buy 60 RAILS FROM TOTS.
I think you know what to do...
Rails are $10 these days? Talk about inflation. Back in my day, they were only $8.
They're $9. But, if you're paying cash a lot of people just pay with an Alexander Hamilton.
I'm going xb1 for a couple of reasons:
Either way, you're probably going to be in good shape. I can see the arguments both ways - I just think the xbox1 fits my user patterns better.
Yes please
Titanfall is coming to PC as well.
Long on record for PS4
When my 360 stopped working I shot it. Felt pretty damn good

I imagine it was somewhat like this:
I still have my original RROD'ed box. Once I find myself with a shotgun handy in a place where I can legally fire it, mine will look similar.
I'm happy with my PS3 for now, but could see myself taking the plunge for the 4 within the next 1-2 years.
PS4 when I can justify the expense.
Right now I'm too busy being a husband, raising two small kids (2, 2 mos.), and trying to finish a dissertation so that I can graduate in May. It would collect dust sorta like my PS3 is right now.
But when the time comes? PS4, definitely.
Also, cake.
why would anyone want to graduate from there? I would stay forever
From Georgia?
Because a professorship pays more than an assistantship. That's why. lol
Because from what my friends with Master's and PhDs tell me grad school gets old really fast.
Have your 2000th Turkey leg on me
My husband is hoping they make a Star Wars version of the XBOX One (he already has the 360 version).
Xbox 360 owner. Not gonna upgrade to new consoles until prices are reasonable.
Neither. I own a Gamecube and haven't turned it on in years
I'm just gonna leave this here:
"By the way bro, i like to take my pants of to play game cube, so I hope thats cool"
i'm a playstation guy so eventually i'll get a ps4. i will say this though. a guy i know who's way into pc gaming (builds his own computers and everything) told me he would worry about the ps4s overheating because of something with the design. he told me the xbox1's graphic card is state of the art and microsoft took a lot of steps to address the overheating thing (red ring of death).
i did ask santa for a ps4 like last spring but santa didnt understand the demand and didnt preorder. oh well, i'm sure i'll get some sweet socks instead.
I'll eventually get both, but right now there just aren't any must have games on either console. Xbox Live is way better than PSN, plus I have more friends on XBL so I'll prob get the Xbox1 this winter and then PS4 next year.
If my choices are PS4 vs Xbox1, I will take new waders.
and a couple of sand spikes
My Xbox360 just got the red ring of death. I'm having this internal debate as well. I've always been an Xbox user but the whole camera on the entire time kinda creeps me out
PS4 for me, mainly from familiarity with the controller. I too will be waiting at least a year if not longer though for the prices to drop.
XB1 for me for the same reason.
Doesn't matter, according to everyone's Mom, it's
Man, everyone's mom in your neighborhood was hot!
That Blacksburg. It'll get after ya!
I'm still kinda iffy about buying a new console. I'm on my 3rd 360 now. I waited untill 2007 to buy a 360 and still had 2 red rings of death happen. My 3rd 360 is a arcade edition with a 12 GB hard drive attached to it and its been working since February 2010 so Ill stick with it for the time being and see how many if any console bugs/failure's happen with the PS4 and Xbox One.
Oh man. Anybody remember Tiger Electronic Toys? When I was a kid, I had one of those, and would play for HOURS.
I'm getting a little nostalgic about childhood.
I had a few of these little electronic games when I was young, including this one.
I have all 4, Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, and high-end PC. I feel no need for anything new at this point.
Maybe once I get through some of the 100+ games I haven't played yet on Steam.... damn summer sales, they'll get after ya.
I think being broke has saved me from going hog wild on steam. So many great deals...
To be fair, I didn't use Steam at all until after I graduated and got a job, but then again it was only a month after I graduated and got a job...
So I got a Bed, Bath, and Beyond ad yesterday in the mail and guess what they sell now.
Sega Genesis game system and the Atari game system. Crazy!! I had a Sega game gear
light years ago. Loved Sonic the Hedgehog.
Biggest troll in the history of video games.

YES! If only you could have shot that bastard.
I tried repeatedly
My original X-Box is finally giving out. -- It's technically my 3rd one: 1st got sent back to Game Stop a few days after I received it because it was overheating during extended play and they sent me a replacement, then a couple years ago I bought my friends old X-Box, a couple games, and extra controllers for around $25 (mainly so I'd have a back up DVD drive), then the 2nd one's power supply got fried by lightening during the Tornadoes a couple years ago (along with the power supplies in both my parent's and my desktop). The power button stopped working a while back, though the eject button still works, and now the DVD drive is starting to go as well. -- So I'll probably make the jump to a 360 in the next couple months, the only original xbox games I own that won't work on it are NCAA 03 and 07. And I've missed playing KotOR/KotoR2, never finished Ninja Gaiden Black, SC: Pandora Tomorrow, and didn't even start SC: Chaos Theory. Add in all the 360 games I'd like to play: All the Halos after Halo 2 (started 3 on a friends 360, but didn't get too far in), Fable 2, Oblivion & Skyrim to mention a few. I'm eying up the $140 deal on Gamestop that includes 6 games, probably have to get a bigger hard drive as well though.
I'm not sure what the $140 deal is, but definitely get the slim. Damn near zero chance of getting a dud.
Also, congrats on finally moving up to HD gaming!
It's this one:
http://www.gamestop.com/xbox-360/consoles/xbox-360-20gb-refurbished-blas...
Looks like its not available at the moment, but I'm still a few months away from being able to shell out anything near that amount of money for non-essentials anyway. Car is paid for at the end of December though, so that'll open up a little more budget space.
Did you try blowing in the cartridge before you put the game in the console? Sometimes they get dusty.
Already bought my PS4 and love it.
I had a chance to play around with my friend's new PS4 last night and I came away underwhelmed. For starters the PS4 has had virtually all of it's home media capabilities stripped away. The PS4 cannot stream video or audio off of a network drive or a USB local stick. Given how long this has been a staple of the PS3 this was a big disappointment. Indications are that the PS4 dev team is working on including this functionality in the future, but that's a pretty big miss in my book.
The PS4 does have a full compliment of streaming options from service providers like Netflix, Hulu, etc.
I can't judge too much from the gameplay since the only title I had available was Kill Zone and I played for just 30 minutes or so. My immediate impression was that it wasn't that much different from what the PS3 can do. The game featured a lot of atmospheric effects and dynamic lighting (fog, shadows, diffracted light) but it wasn't $400 better than what I see in GTA-V on my PS3. It's always unfair to pick on the launch titles with a console since it takes a while for the developers to really wring all the performance out of the hardware. All in all I didn't come away with the feeling that I needed one in the next year or two.
I'll get to take a crack at the X-Bone later this month and we'll see how they compare.
The new features on both are incredible. But I just don't play video games like I used to. Waiting for the bugs to be worked out and the price to go down is fine with me.
Just saw that I can get the PS4 for points on my Credit card reward system. Took all my strength to hold off ordering it. The points tradeoff right now doesn't make sense. The Cash Back option on the card would leave me $250 in cash after buying the system from Best Buy so will likely go that route once the prices come down and the glitches get fixed.
I'm still holding out for this:
ha...i always wanted one of these.
dumbest thing ever.
I love the power glove...
... it's so bad.
Edit -
Fun Fact: the girl is Jenny Lewis from the band Rilo Kiley. You may have also heard her sing backup on The Postal Service's "We Will Become Sillouettes"
...am I the only person who listened to indie music in the early 2000's?
you mean the raddest thing ever?
