Full schedule here.
Edit: Add table.
At Pitt on a Friday night? Will the extra empty Heinz field be a help or a burden for Tech?
@ Pitt on a Friday could be good. Not that fans actually go to their games, but even less now.
edit: damn similar joke 14 seconds faster
But short turnaround from game at Louisville.
Pitt has the same turn around. They are playing @FSU on Halloween. Louisville might be a tougher game than FSU but the short turn around is probably a wash.
I wouldn't call it a wash, exactly. Pitt has the advantage of being at home for the Friday nighter. That's one less travel day in an already compressed week. Even though it's not as big an advantage as it would've been if Pitt were home on Halloween, they definitely have it easier than we do. Good thing we have the better team (knock on wood).
That's an advantage that a home team always has. But more of what I meant was, it isn't as if Pitt is coming off a Bye or a Thursday game. They will be playing a road game, same as us, on Halloween. Neither team will be more rested, unless the games on Halloween are a blow out.
UVA is a Saturday game again! Thank the lord
YAY! A slow release of a schedule that should have been out already, just what fans wanted. The ACC sure knows how to drum up excitement. (said in Ben Stein's voice)
Really though, it would be nice to have this done sooner so folks looking to travel for specific games could get a jump on hotels. Most allow booking a year in advance, most schools have their OOC slate scheduled more than a year in advance, so the ACC should strive to have the schedule out sooner.
Hell two conferences have theirs out over a year ahead of time.
Thank god we get a BYE before BC. Was worried about that one.
I like having the bye around mid-season and I'll take a bye over playing BC on a short week.
As a side note, did college football abandon the two bye week thing from last season already?
The two bye week thing happens every few years because there is an extra weekend during football season.
/s? I think BC will he one of our easier game next year with their coaching turnover minus AJ Dillon as well. As long as we dont turn the ball over 5 times it should be a multiple TD win.
Yeah I was being sarcastic. However, apparently it became standard procedure at some point to schedule BYE's like this in the instance that you have a Thursday night game.
.
UNC in early October, definitely going to be a battle. I like having Miami at home late in the season though. But yikes, at Louisville and at Pitt late back to back.
UNC in early October...right in the heart of hurricane season. You know what that means.
We win in the rain!
I'd rather have Miami early - could just be me, they have a new OC and new QB, so doubt they'll have their offense completely figured out earlier in the season and it might get stronger as the season progresses.
I do not like the @UNC, BC, @Louisville, @Pitt stretch one bit, even if there is a bye after @UNC
We get to play our whole non-conference schedule before a single conference game, i like it!!
And we get GiT after playing (North) 'Bama. I want to make them forever suffer for the hell that was Paul Johnson.
Based on GT's schedule I foresee lots of suffering. Woof!
It's weird seeing Duke so late in the season
I have family about 40 minutes away from MTSU. May need to plan a visit in September.
I have family
about 40 minutes away from MTSUin NashvilleFTFY
how do you know it's not Hillsboro?
Duke is a trap game. Let down loss after beating a "bak" Miami or a looking ahead loss prior to exacting revenge upon the wahoos.
Can't see any player or coach falling into that trap after what happened in the 2019 Duke game.
I like the extra day before Miami
Me and my wife have been looking forward to the Louisville game for years and it falls on Martinsville Chase Race weekend. *beats head on desk...hard* May see if we can fly out and back in a day...but damn. I'll still try and post a thingy for that weekend for those going.
My wife and I are thinking about hitting a few distilleries on the bourbon trail on a drive from VA and then catch the game. I need to look up the rules on alcohol for that stadium, wondering if they mind me carrying in a bottle of Four Roses.
Just about every athletic facility they have is "off-campus." If campus is *here*, off-campus is riiiight *here* (imagine me throwing a stick 10ft). So they serve about anything you want in the stadium...not as cheap as airplane bottles in your boots, but still.
We'll have it on in the campground at the speedway if you're in town (unless we're at the Xfinity race).
Boo to having our (no longer every year) Thursday night game be against BC, of all teams.
Miami late in the season could be a blessing or a curse. I feel like they could either gather momentum and play good ball by November or fall apart and snowball out of control like this past season.
Every other season is my favorite cause I can make it to more road games, namely UNC and Duke!
A couple of important notes:
1. We get two extra days of "rest/practice" before Louisville while they play FSU the Saturday before.
2. LOLUVA plays a physical Pitt team the Saturday before playing us... We are at Duke that same week. Helpful for us.
45-10
Really hope Gameday comes for our PSU game
Gameday isn't coming. They'll be in Eugene for Ohio State @ Oregon
There are quite a few games that will carry some national appeal that Saturday:
Texas @ LSU
Tennessee @ Oklahoma
UNC-Auburn (in Atlanta)
Penn State @ Virginia Tech
Louisville @ Clemson
And that's not to mention a bunch of other games that should be solid but will probably get overshadowed by the ones mentioned above:
Iowa State @ Iowa
Kentucky @ Florida
Mississippi State @ NC State
Michigan State @ BYU
Houston @ Washington State
Memphis @ Purdue
When we roll into the loluva game undefeated, Gameday will show up!
Lol we could potentially start 0-2. That would suck.
Liberty - W (but could go either way, TBH)
Penn State - L
@MTSU - W
North Bama - W
GT - W
@UNC - L
BC - W
@Louisville - W
@Pitt - L
Miami - W
@Duke - L
UVA - W
8-4. But there are approximately 9 toss-up games so it could easily be anything from 2-10 to 11-1.
We'll find out early how good UNC really is too.
UCF, Auburn, and JMU is a tough stretch to start the season. JMU is losing a bit from their squad that just made the FCS title game, but they'll still be one of the best teams in FCS. They won't be an easy out.
Who do ya think JMU has a better shot at? UNC or UVA?
UVA without a doubt. They will be offensively challenged in the first year post Perkins.
Tough call. If we're basing things on next year's squads, I'd say UVA just due to the fact that their QB situation is a complete unknown. However, UVA returns almost everyone from a pretty good (by the numbers) defense.
UNC returns almost everyone on offense, especially at the skill positions. I'd say that will give them the edge.
