The Ladies play #7 NC State today at 7PM at Cassell Coliseum. The game is on ACCNx. NC State is 21-1 and 10-1 in the ACC. Their only loss was to UNC in Chapel Hill, when UNC was not playing well; which just goes to show any team in the ACC can beat any other team, especially on their home court. NC State has wins against current #13 Maryland and #17 FSU; both were home games for NC State.

Elissa Cunane will be a match for Kitley, one of the few times Kitley will play an opponent as tall as she is. And Cunane has a year of experience in the ACC. Cunane is averaging 16.5 points and 10 rebounds on the season. and in ACC play. The rest of the NC State roster is also relatively tall.

Because of the way NC State tracks data on their web site, it was easier to include full season stats than to sort out ACC stats alone; so you get both.

This will not be an easy game. NC State is a very good team; but the Hokies played very well against them at NC State. That kind of effort today might result in a win. We will need good games from everyone today to have a chance. Kitley will have to be phenomenal defensively against Cunane to keep her in check; and she will have to stay on the court. We can't afford for her to get in foul trouble; and it would be great if Kitley could get a couple of fouls on Cunane early.
Four of NC State's starters average scoring more than 10 pt/game in ACC play. Cunane and Jones shoot over 50% from the field and Konig shoots 46% from three. The team averages 44% overall and 38% from three whille holding opponents to 36% overall and 27% from three. They have outrebounded opponents by 6 per game.
This will probably be a loss; but I think we have a chance to pull off the upset.
Go Hokies!

15-10 NC State after the 1st qtr. Hokies not shooting well. 20% overall and from 3.
Now down 12 with 5 minutes left in the first half. Still shooting 25% and 16%. They are getting shots; just can't convert.
Down 11 at the half. Shooting 21% and 10%. Still getting open shots; but missing. Kitley and Obouh Fegue with 2 fouls.
I appreciate the updates amongst all the other garbage being posted here. Good information about hokie sports is fantastic. Thank you.
Thanks for the reply. I often wonder if I am talking to myself on these threads.
Nah I'm keeping up with itπ
You're not, and please keep up the good work. Thanks, I really appreciate it.
I'm traveling the next four days to visit my daughter's family in CA. I'll try to at least start a thread for the games, but there may not be much content, since I'll be working from phone and tablet.
45-39 Ncsu going to the 4th quarter
Hokies cut the lead to 1 and then gave up 5 unanswered to be down by 6 at the end of 3. Now shooting 28% and 20%. Had the ball with 14.5 seconds and could not get a decent shot.
looking grim down 10 with under 2 minutes.
Frustrated to see us mount the second half comeback but just couldnt get enough stops. NC State is a real good team but wish we could have shot better to give ourselves a chance. They must be taking some notes from the mens team.
I thought the defense played well enough to win. Really impressed with Obouh-Fegue. Like the men, the women don't have any one who can create a shot. I was critical of Cole as a point guard early in the season because I did not think she was creating offense. I still don't think she does; but maybe that's the way Brooks wants the offense to work. They just don't seem to move the ball and move the players enough. That is especially true on a short shot clock; drives me crazy watching someone holding the ball looking around as the clock runs out. I cannot remember a time this season when we have gotten a good shot at the end of a quarter with a short shot clock. We also don't seem to have any plays to get Mabrey open for three; and she is not quick enough to lose her defender.
We are still a good team with a good chance to make the NCAA. Just wish we could be more efficient on offense.
Losing by 12 to a team that has 1 loss this late in the season is nothing to be ashamed of. Yes, I criticize some aspects of Brooks' coaching this and every year, but the fact they this team was hanging with a top tier team is a good thing.
