They need to flood the market with videos like this, highlights, and graphics. Great job guys. Tapp is very easy to like.
I was waiting for him to make it to that class of 2008 sign. One of my all time favorite teams.
That's a great video.
But it also makes me think the tunnel itself could use a small update. I love the close, cramped feel of it, but I think they could up the awesome factor of it by taking a cue from what some other stadiums are doing and replace the current lights with a design and LED lighting in orange with white accents (paint the tunnel walls maroon to darken) to set the mood as players are preparing to take the field. Have a VT 'HARD SMART TOUGH' design on the left hand side, and backlight all the current displays on the right.
Look at what aTm and the Eagles have done for an idea on what I'm talking about. I think the tunnel into Lane could be a perfect place to implement something like this, and I don't think it would be that expensive to accomplish.
With that said, this video makes it very clear how important it is to have former players (especially former high profile players) still either close to the program, or involved with coaching in the program. He's literally able to relate to what these kids are going to go through on gamedays, because he's been there before. He was that kid. And if you're a star player, he was in your shoes not that long ago.
He's able to relate to high profile recruits and sell VT in a way that I don't know we've been able to do in recent years. That's not an indictment on any of the coaches we used to have, but outside of JHam, we really didn't have anyone who had those experiences here to relate. Going through that tunnel into that stadium during that entrance is a completely different animal than anywhere else in this game, and being able to sell it from their perspective is not a bad thing.
Convinces me that our recruiting pitch got a little stronger over the past few months.
Has to be the best hire Whit has made so far!
#ThanksFuente.
I will not get hyped.......I will not get hyped.........Oh Hell, Let's Go Hokies! Season can't get here fast enough!
That gave me such chills you could cut glass with my nipples right now.
love it
Seems like we should have some kind of notation or symbol for players that made the NFL on those plaques.
Or maybe not. Treating all the same seems like it would be great motivation for the players that really have no shot at the pros.
It's to mark graduates.
Edit: Misunderstood what you wrote. There is a symbol to mark graduates, but a symbol for NFL players would be cool too.
To quote cousin Eddie at Christmas Eve dinner, "That was gooo-ooood!"
"Save the neck for me, Clark!"
I'd never seen this picture before but I LOVE it.
That was so awesome. Go Hokies!
Thanks Darryl for bringing a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day. GO HOKIES!
Darryl Tapp is one of my fave Hokies also. He represents "The Lot"....I went to elementary and middle school with his older brother.....
This is really good. I think we're finally starting to see a cohesive social media/recruiting strategy with coaches that are willing to put the time in to do it.
