At least one NFL playoff game per year will be on Nickelodeon

At least according to the new CBA...

Next, look for them to broadcast to MTV to capture the Gen Z audience.

No, I *don't* want to go to the SEC. Why do you ask?

We don't love dem Hoos.

That would require broadcasting on TikTok

Viacom could buy a stake in TikTok to make that happen. Fairly easily, if they wanted to.

I guess the rationale is that in the short term they could get a small ratings boost and long term maybe they can get some new fans interested at a younger age? I can't imagine how this would create new fans unless this telecast is truly a unique production with less emphasis on the schemes and more on the fun of playing football. And then maybe a few kids who wouldn't have otherwise been interested get into it. It will be interesting to see what the NFL viewership is like in 10-15 years as a result. My guess is it will be about the same.

I hope CBS uses augmented reality and incorporate the dogs of Paw patrol. That would be cool to watch.

every highlight is accompanied by shit like this on screen:

"When I was growing up, Virginia Tech was a school that was kicking ass and taking names, and it's time we get back to that" - James Franklin

If a game ends in a tie at the end of regulation, the game is then decided in overtime where the teams select one player to run the Aggro Crag. Whoever finishes first, wins the game

Or maybe they can assemble to monkey in Legends of the Hidden Temple?

So you're basically guaranteeing that almost nobody would ever win a game. "The piece is right THERE! It's in front of you!!! NO! DON'T GO BACKWARDS THE WAY YOU CAME! WHAT ARE YOU DOING!"

So you're telling me that Mike O'Malley is going to be in the booth and Mo will be the sideline reporter?

Put Marc Summers in with him and I'd definately tune in

Damn. Sorry, Chiefs.

A decade on TKP and it's been time well spent.

Lol yeah. Sucks for them.

Hmmm, tomorrow is April 1.

I suspect you are correct.

Every time a touchdown is scored, it cuts to the commentators getting slimed. Sideline reporter is Kirk Fogg. Every touchdown celebration is the woogitywoogitywoogity

We put the K in Kwality

Why is this being criticised. If they can truly tailor the simulcast to a younger audience, it is brilliant.

Agree wholeheartedly--will also help keep the kids interested in the game and allow some good family/teachable moment time.

Sounds like Madden's telestrator is coming back. *Boom*

Because a lot of people (in general, not necessarily here) didn't read the part where it would also be broadcast traditionally

Agreed. The average age of any sports watcher is pretty damn old. Heck, for TV in general it is old AF. My son probably watches a couple hours of Youtube every day and then maybe a couple of short TV shows (like Mike Tyson Mysteries or other adult swim show) a week.

If the NFL can get their median viewer's age down, it would be huge. Especially if less kids are playing due to concussion concerns.

I don't think it's a coincidence that in the season the Redskins and Bengals have to play, the NFL pulls this. Smart move by Goodell, IMO.
