Auburn, I think, is a better team than tOSU. Unfortunately, who really knows? Who has tOSU played? Really, I think they should be at the back of the top 5. I won't say that they shouldn't be in the top 5. They are after all undefeated.

I think if fsu has Winston they are the best team.in the country. I think a 1 loss SEC team is better than ohio state. mizzou or auburn should be over them cause of SOS being absolute crap. this is why I cant wait for the playoff system

noooo like, honestly the only thing wrong with current system is because people want to put 1 loss teams above unbeatens. I think if you go undefeated in a major power conference you should get precedence over any other 1 loss team. You win you're in, you lose you're out, its simple but people want to try to over complicate it

Your scenario entails exactly why this system gets complicated. Is Ohio State in a power conference? I don't think it is anymore. It used to be, but now it's not. Now it's in a cupcake competition for power house of the Big 10.

That's pretty much what I'm going with. Definitely with the first four. I'm struggling with #5. I kind of want to put Oklahoma State there, but I figure Alabama would probably beat them.
But, if the top two stumble, then a 11-1 champ from the Big 12 would stand to have a shot against the 12-1 SEC champ.

Realistically, I think Bama would beat OSU, Okie St, and Mizzou, you just can't put them ahead of an unbeaten team or the team that just beat aTm to play in the SECCG

FSU
OSU- Still not sure about them, want to see them play MSU, but they could be a decent match against FSU
Auburn
Bama
NIU- Undefeated. With convincing wins every time. Give 'em a shot as BCS Buster and I think they surprise.

Just look at last week's rankings. I hear the SOS argument, but Auburn was a distant 4th. Both Auburn and OSU had what some might call lucky wins yesterday. I don't see Auburn making up the ground. If both teams win out I've got my money on FSU-OSU NCG.

The difference is that Ohio State had a close game against an unranked, 7-5 team and Auburn had a close game and won against the #1 team in the nation.

"Better losses" are still losses though. There is nothing impressive about losing to a team regardless of how close the final score is. Teams should be getting credits for wins rather than losses. That's part of what has really messed with the system lately, and its 100% the reason why they were able to have the SEC rematch a few years ago.

My Rank - Team - (W-L record) - Record vs ranked opponents at the time they played
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1 - FSU - (12-0) - 3-0 - next game against Duke
2 - Auburn - (11-1) - 3-1 - next game against Missouri
3 - Missouri - (11-1) - 4-1 - next game against Auburn
4 - Bama - (11-1) - 3-1 - no additional games until bowl season starts
5 - tOSU - (12-0) - 2-0 - next game against Michigan St
My rationale -
* FSU should have no trouble beating Duke and will be in the NC Game. If by some chance they lose, the Florida football world will collapse, and the BCS will be thrown into complete chaos.
* If Auburn beats Missouri, they will have beaten #1 Bama and #5 Missouri in back-to-back games. That should be enough to get them into the NC Game, especially if tOSU loses to Michigan State.
* If Missouri beats Auburn and tOSU loses to Michigan State, I think Missouri could find themselves in the NC Game.
* The highest-ranked team tOSU will face this year is Michigan State. If they win, and Auburn loses to Missouri, I believe that will be enough to push tOSU into the title game. If tOSU loses that game, they're out of the NC Game.
* Could Bama find themselves in the title game if FSU, Auburn, and tOSU lose this coming weekend? Stranger things have happened.
The upcoming slate of final games should be very entertaining!

These are the 5 teams that I think have a chance against anyone. From what I've seen this year, these are the top five teams in the nation.
That doesn't mean that I don't think OSU is good. They just feel like Oregon Part II, a team that appears to out-talent lesser competition but has trouble against a stout opponent. I think Michigan State will beat them next week, and then we'll be talking about, "Well how good WERE they, really?".
I almost put OkSt in here. But that loss to WVU is just abysmal.

I agree, MSU has the defense that should get enough stops to stay in the game while the offense should score just enough points against that BAD oh st defense.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
If OSU beats MSU next week they'll be #2 or #3 because they will have actually beaten someone. Auburn beat Bama, but I could see Mizzou beating them, so we'll see after the SECCG.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Michigan state beats OSU, Mizzou beats Auburn and Duke wins ...... Nope, just kidding, FSU dominates the dookies and then who plays FSU in the Big Game?
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Northern Illinois. The BCS just gives up in its last year and lets a Non-AQ play for the MNC to make up for TCU not playing in it in 2010 and being sent to the Rose Bowl.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
NIU (the deserve a mention, the teams they've played aren't much worse than OSU)
If I were a BCS voter, I'm not sure I'd vote in this order, but if I were a gambler picking a winner in a random game, I would be most confident in Alabama winning, least confident in OSU.

the fact that they're undefeated, in my mind, puts them above auburn. However if tOSU loses to MSU then all bets are off.

an undefeated OSU team. 11-1 MSU. a 9-3 team, and 3 teams at 8-4. there is nothing wrong with the Big 10. 8 bowl eligible teams as well
and yet no ooc wins against any quality teams for the entire conference. big10 is the new cream puff conference
that "undefeated" osu team has gone two years without playing a team that finished the year ranked, so just looking at the record doesn't mean much
Nebraska and Michigan (only one poll) both finished last year ranked.

Every time?
The beat Idaho by only 10, had to come back against FCS Eastern Illinois, and let Akron hang around way longer than they should have.
