The Hokie Club sent out the following info today. As we all know, we're playing catch-up on a number of fronts here, but to see us making all time highs in multiple areas in the midst of Covid is encouraging.
Join the Hokie Club! Every $ makes a difference! And... Go Hokies!
Dear Valued Hokie Club Member,
On behalf of our Virginia Tech student-athletes, coaches, and staff, we wanted to sincerely thank you for your support of the Hokie Club and the Hokie Scholarship Fund. Your ongoing commitment supports the educational needs of our student-athletes and ensures our programs remain highly competitive in the ACC and nationally.
We are extremely grateful for your support for the 2020-21 academic year! You were joined by thousands of other Hokies who collectively gave over $15 million in gifts to the Hokie Scholarship Fund. Thank you for making an impact by helping to provide scholarships to Virginia Tech student-athletes!
In fact, there is strength in numbers and you have helped us achieve many all-time giving records:
- 10,932 is the highest number of Hokie Scholarship Fund donors in a single year to date.
- The $15.1 million to the Hokie Scholarship Fund is the 3rd highest HSF amount raised.
- Total giving to the Hokie Club is currently exceeding $32 million based on the most recent benefit giving cycle that concluded on April 30th.
- The Hokie Club currently has 17,814 members, with more joining everyday.
Our goal of 25,000 members remains unchanged and we appreciate you being a part of the journey; we need your help to keep the postive momentum!
Thank you again for the instrumental role you play in helping Hokie student-athletes Reach for Excellence!
Go Hokies!

This is honestly great, albeit slow progress. If we could get to 20k members by 2022, that would be a huge accomplishment.
It is particularly impressive, especially given how the structure itself still hasn't worked out the messaging and marketing kinks. At least they have made the process for giving more seamless, even if they haven't nailed the value proposition.
Question - do they still offer recent graduates a discounted membership / benefits? I believed when I graduated I was able to buy season tickets for half price for several years, as long as I joined the HC. Which is what got me involved and led to 22 years of giving. I thought they went away from this policy post-MV7 but wasn't sure.
I don't think there is any "discount", but they have lowered the min donation amount ($25). And there is the Student Hokie Club to onboard people sooner ($25).
Yes, there is the Hokie Club Recent Graduate Program. It is not very well advertised, but it offers a 50% discount on the Hokie Club donation requirement (up to Golden Hokie level) for your first two years out of school.
Am I the only 8 year Hokie Club member that didn't receive this email somehow?
I'm 4 year I think and didn't.
I received it. Did you donate only to sport specific or to the athletic fund? Hoping it wasn't something that simple that they messed up with distribution lists.
Scholarship fund like always.
The Hokie Club email page has an extensive list of categories. You can opt in or out of any or all of those sublists.
If you want more emails, that's the first place you should look.
I too did not receive this e-mail.
I have struggled mightily with hokieclub/hokiesports web pages. It always seems like some folks can see stuff others can't and vice versa. How does one log in to the "Hokie Club" web page? when I go to hokieclub.com there is no where to log in. The only place I log in to is the hokiesports.evenue page, and there is no where to manage e-mails or notices.
And just as an FYI, it says I have been giving for 35 years, which is wrong because that would mean I started giving when I was less than 10 years old! SNAFU!
I provided this exact feedback to them recently and received this reply from Diana Adkins the hokieclub business manager

Yes, they should be able to make it simpler, more intuitive, and more consistent. It's almost like it was designed by a computer science student from the 90's. It works, but you have to bounce around a bit every single time.
But you can get there from here.

Good luck!
I didn't see this email because I deleted it(went back and found it) but I did see this info on Twitter.
Encouraging that the new member numbers haven't stalled and we're up to 17k. Suddenly the Drive for 25 doesn't seem as insurmountable. I originally had my doubts and sort of expected it to fade out.
Still would like to see the payment system more streamlined and user friendly online. Also, when did they stop posting Hokie Club members names? I think a lot of people have pride seeing their name on that very long list.
It is literally inexcusable that the payment system is as bad as it is.
Can i ask what you think it so bad about it? It was pretty easy for me to navigate through and is also pretty comparable to what other universities use.
