How can Virginia have anyone listed on the 1st-team?! They didn't win ANY ACC games!

Rick Monday... You Made a Great Play...

I also root for: The Keydets, Army, TexAggies, NY Giants, NY Rangers, ATL Braves, and SA Brahmas

If I remember correctly Harris led the nation in INT's, and the people who vote on these things (who don't always watch all of the games) tend to rely a bit too heavily on stats or draft stock...hence the fishiness about the "eye test."

Brent Urban was HM, though. DT was tough in the ACC this year, but he was a lot better than that. Maddy was third team and he's a good player, but Urban is a better player.

I believe Kyle Fuller got jobbed. By the eye test he's better than 3rd team All-ACC.

Oh, without a doubt.
Kyle not on 1st team all ACC? 3rd team? Really? Do these guys not watch games?
How do you have a top 10 National Defense and not have a single one as Conference 1st team?

This is going to be great for the ACC.

Hyping up Hokie Nation one video at a time.

OMG that almost made me lose my shit in the middle of the office

Didn't play enough is the big knock. We all know Exum would have probably been in the mix too but you miss about half the season, especially late in the season and people forget what you have done. He still had the second most Pass Breakups amongst the top six CBs even missed all that time.

Permission to say that is bullshit? Shafted.

Kendall should be first team, I bet he ends up a freshman all American because that's a thing too right?

Kyle would be 1st team if not for his injury.

Maddy on the 3rd team is absurd.

The biggest shafting, though, is Collins not even getting HONORABLE MENTION. Really? Hopefully the other outlets do a better job with these.

Collins has no one to fault but himself, another year where he didn't finish as strong as he started.

Kareem Martin (UNC) at 1st team DE is highway robbery. We recruited that kid hard, but he was not good this year. Took a lot of plays off.

He had 11 sacks and 20 tfl

UVA: Jefferson's biggest mistake

@pbowman6

LOL @ QB. Winston had 191 votes, Tajh had 132. Third team was Stephen Morris.....with 24 votes!

Ouch.

Most of the voters just look at stats because they haven't watched more than a handful of games other than the team they are really focused on and his stats make him look like a rock star.

I agree that Collins overall would have been my pick for 2nd team at worst. I think the one spot that he dropped off on later in the season is what cost him here. Sacks are sexy and he failed to have one the last four games and he sat out against Duke. He had 4.5 sacks in the first four games and only .5 the rest of the season.

At DT, Jernigan being beaten by Whitlock though was a bigger shock to me. Aaron Donald was a beast at Pitt and D Hopkins has the other slot here so its a case of deep talent at one spot. Maddy was a victim of this talent.

Kyle didn't play enough so if you look at the stats (and you know a bunch of these folks, that's all they did) I am surprised he ended up that high. He has the lowest tackle total of all six CB's. He did have 10 passes defended which is second best among the six. I am not sure how Cockrel from Duke got up that high, but being on the winning team helps a bunch. Kendall is who I would have argued was the most deserving of first team off this defense. 57 tackles, .5 sack, 6 picks and 9 passes defended per ESPN stats. He was always in the right place at the right time and consistently made big plays regardless of game.

Other than that, although we have great team defense, but no one really jumps out at you as a game changer that would dominate for a first team slot. Sometimes it pays off to be the one shining jewel in the coal pile.

On Offense, no offense but Logan wasn't going to get that nod and we all know how much of the offense was all him this season, so no much left to pick from there.

I am just amused that 3 of the top 6 corners in the ACC are all on one Defense.

Maybe amused isn't the right word. Giddy, perhaps?

My jimmies have been rustled.
