Discuss and share any Virginia Tech related recruiting topics from May 2020 that don't warrant their own thread
This recruiting thread is used to share information regarding VT-specific targets, including PWOs, scholarship offers, visits, camps, and general news pertaining to those targets.
The other monthly Recruiting Discourse Thread is for higher-level discussion of VT recruiting trends and broader conversation regarding the overall college football recruiting landscape and other schools' classes and commits.

Any idea how we stack up for poole? An o-line with bounds and pounds would be awesome to see commentators mess that up
VT is in a good place with Poole as of now. The fact that he's gone to 4* and has said his recruitment is 100% open means he's probably going to get more offers, and he already has from Florida State and Boston College.
I really like Poole, as an FYI though, he's cousins with BJ Hill and CJ Clark, so there are NC State family ties.
Is TJ Quinn already in a VT jersey?
hokiestone in the background, likely taken on a trip to VT
We're expecting a Jalen Stroman commitment to the good guys tonight, and a happy birthday to Jalen as well!
I hope so, forget his ranking, that kid looks like he has the toughness to make an impact for us. I am really hoping he commits to the good guys and we pick up Brown and Gillam and some of these hoss OL. Control the LOS and good things will happen.
greg posted a pic on instagram of them both in hokie uniforms- came straight here to see the commitment thread lol.
This also continues the strong VT family connection (which is crazy to think how well VT does at recruiting multiple family members).
Another potential benefit is the tie between Jalen Stroman and Tyleik Williams. They might play for opposing schools here in the NOVA area (Stonewall and Patriot) but have strong ties from playing youth football together all the way up to high school.
O'Mega Blake - His decision may be impacted by the recruitment of Micah Crowell. If Crowell does not choose NC State, I would expect a full court press from them on Blake.
I believe he is from the same high school as Eli Adams.
What's the hold up on Troy Everett? All indications were he was committing after getting an offer from us. Is App St on full court press with him?
It appears we are still on track but the decision was delayed a bit for personal stuff.
I heard he tweeted something to the effect of "Virginia Tech wasn't in the same league as App State"
Not serious in the least. This is a complete fabrication.
EDIT: dammit. Sorry guys, this is on me, apparently.
And then he committed to App State
I know App State has had a decent bit of success at the FCS level and in recent years at FBS, but they're still G5, wonder why we got beat out? This kid also had offers from Ivy league schools, so going to App State of all places is perplexing
his HS teammate committed to App St. as well. Maybe they wanted to play together in college too?
maybe his offer to VT was conditional and he didn't want to wait until later in the process to find out if he had a spot or not?
Ivy League schools don't offer athletic scholarships..
For an Ivy League offer, an athlete would be responsible for qualifying academically and for financial aid. Estimates for each case are available before, but the process comes with a bit more risk and uncertainty than a standard offer for a competing school.
got a CB for Landyn Watson today, along with another one for Stroman
Let's get some of these 4 stars we have CB's for damn it
Top three for Mattheus Carroll
One of these is not like the others
Duke doesn't have a shade of red in it's colors is what you're getting at, right?
I was going with only one has a winning football tradition but this is also true
they all have pretty unique attributes that would attract a recruit, tbh.
Maryland has .. an offense killer at OC and a crook at HC who's like 5-30 all time as a coach.
Duke has .. a 1/4 full stadium that is also the smallest in the conference. Losing tradition.
We have Lane freakin stadium, a winning tradition, committed fan base, proven (or almost) coach, the best dining halls in the country, probably more draft picks than those other two combined, the most and best mentors and connections for prospective pro players. We're the big dogs here, they're a couple of toy poodles
UMD provides a popular urban setting and a head coach that relates to recruits.
Duke provides a high level education and the most distinguished head coach.
But yes, VT should provide the best opportunity for collegiate football success.
Maryland's football stadium is 50 minutes away from his high school
Well he can be close to home when they go 4-8 then 2-10 over the next two years and fire Locksley. Maybe the new coach will Like him and rebuild fast enough for them to go to a bowl his r-Sr season.
One of those toy poodles dropped 40 on us in prime time in our stadium last year.
One has little Tua
Anyone know how we stand with Gilliam?
OU probably
You think OU even after they get Burris (high 4*) and flip Abiara from ND, they will have 4 DE commits? I'm thinking OU may fill up and it would come down to PSU and VT unless LSU pushes super hard for him.
Not sure. Don't know how their board shakes out, but I believe that that's where he wants to go.
11th reported P5 offer and it's a big boy list, class of 22
7th P5 offer, class of 22
LOL "My recruitment is still open" Not sure how many other schools there are left to offer!
Seem like a ton of offers have been going out lately, not just by VT, and it has me a bit perplexed. No one has played football in months. A few months off isn't a huge deal if you're talking about evaluating a 21yr old grad transfer, but when your 15/16/17 a few months and your body could be completely different.
So how are coaching staffs evaluating talent these days? Are they just watching tape from last season, are the watching home work out videos? How do they know if the undersized linemen who claims to have put on 25lb can still bend and run., or if the linebacker who grew a few inches might now be better suited as a DE (which maybe we don't need any more of, and suddenly need to recruit a new LB).
I'm thinking that most football camps are going to be cancelled this summer, so it should be a very interesting year for player evaluations.
Probably a better comment for the discourse thread. Interesting thoughts for sure.
Figured it could have gone in either. I'm not really upset with us sending out new offers, I'm just curious how we're determining that we're sending them out to the right kids.
It will certainly be interesting to see how many HS's have football in the fall. HS football certainly isn't the money maker that college is, could be an excuse for a lot of programs to shut down for good.
This is where connections with high school coaches come in.
Is this sooner or later than his original commit date?
A month later I believe.
Well he did say that he was going to take all of his OV so I would assume he's made a decision sooner.
Sooner
Malik Newton, 3 star RB out of Lake Taylor High in Norfolk commits to Pitt. Don't think he was a target for VT. He had offers from Virginia, West Virginia, Texas A&M, South Carolina, Penn State, Maryland, and several other schools.
Shoot I think the last guy we got out of my Alma mater was Purnell Sturdivant. And he was a senior when I was a freshman (iirc)
Guten Tag everyone
#DE2VT
Yah! Das ist gut
Limited tape, just a couple highlights on hudl and some clips on Twitter like this one:
The DE:
I would take the OL over the DL in that clip.
I don't know. That DL is the #2 player in the country.
more importantly is the #69 DE
nice
of Germany. Didn't show me much, seems to only use hand technique.
Yeah, the OL looked like he wasn't even working that hard. A cat toying with a tall mouse.
Extension of dead period. No campus visits, no camps, no in homes.
Chance Black committed!

Let the record show that he also had an App St offer /ducks
This was well played.
Yeah, but was it committable? /quacks
2021 RB room boutta be mad stacked
8th P5 offer incl. Oregon which is a good indicator of OL talent
Oregon has been all over the east coast the last two years. They've offered a lot of NC kids.
Cristobal
they are close to becoming Coastal Wisconsin with the way they're developing OL as well
9th P5 offer. curious he tagged Donovan mcmillon in his tweet, anyone know that connection? He's got a good offer list too.
Jordan Poole - potential commitment date of June 19. If he keeps that date, I think things look good as it would be between VT and NC State. If that gets pushed back, then new offers will be in the mix.
This is a player id love to get on board.
More offers from Virginia Tech than there are threads on the coronavirus.
Sorry, not sorry.
Not sure what this comment is meant for...
VT has extended 313 offers to HS students in the 2021 class.
So you are right, VT has extended 303 more offers than Coronavirus threads on TKP.
Class of 2023, committed to UGA last November. Isiah Ford's high school
How the hell is he 15
15...6'0 188.........a bunch of P5 offers
3 CBs for dl Mattheus Carrol to VT; committing this weekend
edit: now 4 w the umd insider flipping his
Love love love. Favorite pure DE recruit that we're in on. Big pickup
Kid is gonna be a stud. Rangy and good bend. Should end up at least a high 3 star with more film or all star games.
Hoping him, Nelson, and Gilliam with Brown as a tweener.
Committing on Sunday
Any insight or updates on Deshun Murrell?
Kid looks solid. Nice burst to get to the second level. Has some wiggle to em too lol
Nvm..Just seen he got crystal balls to UCLA
