LOLUVA football Long Snapper transfers to Tech.

Was primary long snapper for LOLUVA this season on punts. Will sit out a year potentially.

Well if you can't beat em, join em, right?

Directions from Blacksburg to whoville, go north till you smell it then go east until you step in it

Orrrrr beat em then join em?

So many things I want to write about this, so many would have been better if we'd won this past year.

Welcome to VT!

Edit: stupid autocorrect

Yeah, Barney, I'm just as confused...

I don't know what to think but glad to have a long snapper. Question... how athletic is he?

Oh this is good stuff right here.... (Make sure to click on the UVA Athletics image to see the full bio)

When a direct descendent can't even stand that place!

He's not alone; I'm one. I can't stand the insufferable attitude that seems to pour out of that place.

Wait, what? Regarding part A of your thesis, not the attitude part, which I totally get.

For those who don't twitter (I cancelled my twitter account, and now everything redirects to the "do you want to reactivate?" page), here's the Google cache of his bio, which is now gone from the virginia athletics site.

son of Patricia and David Anthony ... a direct descendant of UVA founder and third president of the United States, Thomas Jefferson

Wow. Just........wow.

Think this a joke - the Richmond Times article says his parents are Italian immigrants.

Sometimes we live no particular way but our own

Is it a joke? It might be, but in my experience the bios that go on collegiate sports websites are typically fact checked. I know because one of former players used me as reference for her bio when she went to a D2 school for soccer.

Also the Richmond Times article said:

To that end, Anthony, a first-generation son of an Italian immigrant, has worked hard to stay in shape while home in Florida, a task complicated by his mother's cooking, especially her "poor man's pasta," an angel hair pasta dish with bacon and fried egg.

Both can be true. He can be a 1st generation son of an Italian immigrant and be a direct descendant of TJ.

Does this mean VT special teams are bak?

Is this a good thing or a bad thing? I am completely unsure how to react to this. Hoos usually recruiticorn pretty good just have not have decent coaching to maximize that talent. But at the same time, he is a hoo...

I can imagine no more rewarding a career. And any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction:
β€œI served in the United States Navy"

WAS a Hoo. And if I remember correctly we needed another long snapper after this season so I would say this is a good thing

Didn't we just pull in the no. 1 rated long snapper a class or two ago?

"A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky dangerous animals and you know it." - K

That would be our current snapper, Oscar Shadley. He is a Junior this year.

I initially thought the same thing. It's probably a compliment to Shadley that we haven't really noticed him. I can't remember the last time something went awry on a long snap.

The fact that Shadley is under the radar is actually just as much Bradburns fault- we've also had very few returnable punts.

If you pay attention to the punts, Shadley is remarkably proficient at being the first guy to the fair catcher. He slows up, touches the dude, and then turns and walks off the field.

It's bizarrely entertaining; a bit unfortunate that it only occurs right after the offense stalls out.

Probably won't ever elicit the random-ass ovations that we give "touchbacks for granted" or "Look, y'all- Horse on the Treadmill is on Hokievision!"

IMO that's just a damn shame.

46.5 yards per punt last year will do that.

He currently sits at 43.6 yards per punt for his career, which is a full yard better than Nic Schmitt's record with 74 more punts to Bradburn's name.

Never Forget #1 Overall Seed UVA 54, #64 UMBC 74

I thought the same thing, but was too lazy to look it up, so leg for saving me the trouble!

It's the Oscar to Oscar connection for us right now on punts.

Since he has inside knowledge of UVA, perhaps he can assist Cornelson with attacking the swiss cheese UVA secondary....

His decision was made after a phone call with longtime Virginia Tech assistant coach Bud Foster. All Foster told him was, "We win. They don't."

I don't see how that could possibly beat the expertise on this topic from TKP...

Any of it appears to be better than Cornelson's expertise on the subject.

Richmond Times article quotes as saying "like a cousin".

Correct on that point. Families were close, but not related. As for the TJ thing, I'll believe the press on this one. I mean after all, TJ was known for...ahhh, nevermind.

I guess he decided he wanted a real practical education.

Honestly, this is a feather in our cap for in-state recruiting.

So I guess he likes the state of Virginia but doesn't like crawling through grass and looking for bugs during practice. Perfectly understandable...welcome aboard!

"So.... uh..... when do we break a stone paver and do DDP yoga?" ~ on first day of practice

Conspiracy theory: Due to his lineage and his history with the Cavs, he's a mole who's planning to drastically affect the outcome of future Commonwealth Clashes with botched snaps.

/S. Welcome to the good guys, better late than never...

Lol I already proposed this to my friends

That would be the most insane move ever. I wouldn't even be mad.

Well, then he's a piss-poor planner because he went the wrong way in the transfer portal.

It's the tuition, apparently.

Edit: Felt like he had a better chance for a scholarship sooner at VT. Called it a "business decision".

I don't know if that's good or bad, but I'll choose to see it as good.
