VT has to play FSU for the third time this year. 0-2 against the Noles this year but third time's the charm right?
Hopefully third time's the charm against FSU. UVA plays Michigan tonight and UNC/UCLA is tomorrow to determine the last of the final four.
Maybe it's fifteenth time's the charm. Apparently VT is 0-13-1 all time vs FSU. That would be an even more epic win to get into the NC game!
Side Note: Technically VT's lone "tie" in 2008 was 0-0 after OT2 then VT won in PKs (4-2) to advance in the ACC tourney.

When was the last time any VT sports team was in the final four? Men's Soccer? Wrestling? '99 Football team?
I know Men's Soccer was in 2007 when they had Nyarko on the team. That's about all I can remember of recently.
Wrestling doesn't have a final four. It's just a giant tournament at each weight class, and the performance by individual wrestlers determines your team score.
Its really hard in most sports to beat a team 3 times in a year, especially when its two good teams. Is a possible matchup with uva in the finals a possibility?
Definitely a possibility! VT would need to take care of business against FSU, and UVA would have to beat Michigan tonight and the winner of UNC/UCLA. How sweet would it be to take a national title trophy away from UVA to put it in our own trophy case?

Strangely the VT women's soccer twitter tweeted that there wouldn't be any streams for the game. You think there would have been one for such a big game.
There wasn't an ESPN3 stream because we do all of that in house this year and the video department didn't have time or manpower to transition from Men's Basketball to Soccer.

This was almost an all-ACC final 8 (Wake had to play UVA the previous round). ACC hasn't lost to ANYONE out of conference.
That changed tonight. UCLA beat UNC so it will be UCLA vs UVA and Tech vs FSU. There will be a conference call on monday and they will set the times and other details then.
would have been nice if the ACC championship game didn't happen in the semi-finals
then again nice to have the drama of a UVA - VT for all the marbles if both teams take care of business
There could be no greater conclusion to the ladies season than beating the hoos in the national championship game. This would end their "But you don't have any national championships" crack AND beat the hoos at the same time.

Jazmine Reeves was named a semifinalist for the MAC Hermann Trophy which is the highest award given in college soccer. She is the first ever from Tech to be named a semifinalist.
Not sure where I read/heard this or if it's accurate but is it true that VT has 0 national championships? Could we be looking at our first?

I thought it was reeves but apparently it was manning, that keeper made a huge mistake taking a step back, she steps forward shes not caught flat footed and makes herselve a whole lot bigger

I hate holding an 18 line... thats the problem... you've gotta have 3-4 preferably tall ball hawks (some of these FSU girls are tall) if you're going to hold a high line. Sometimes its better to allow them to get position at the last minute or even position without a last minute change.
in other news...the official i gave the compliment to 10 minutes ago has lost my compliment, there have been 2 or 3 calls where A - he needs to let this just play out and B - has called a couple of 50/50 calls that could have gone the hokies way against them

I think he caught hell from the FSU coach for the first goal. He seemed like he wanted to give FSU an oppty to rectify a call he felt he should have made. He overruled his linesman, allowed FSU to play aggressively on D, then called a ticky-tack obstruction call on our D, which turned into a FSU goal.
He either sucks as a ref or he felt like he made a mistake. Could also be a homer, this is the ACC. Might have been offput by the USA chants as he looks foreign.

I'm all for us winning, but this is the first time I've watched women's soccer in a while and god is it painful. All it is is kickball and shielding.

Just looked on the sabre and UVA fans are calling Tech players thugs. Truly classless people calling young women thugs.
I wonder how it feels to live your life being a troll. Seriously. You would have to be the biggest loser ever to watch that game and claim that anyone on VT is a thug. If anything, you could make a point of FSU's girls being thugs considering one of their girls hit out at one of our defenders early in the game.
Anyways, credit goes to the girls for working hard. Unfortunately soccer can be a cruel game sometimes.
