I wonder if the mask mandate will be like restaurants who mandate a mask when you walk in but can take it off when you are seated.
And in all honesty, during the really cold weather, a lot of fans wear scarfs and/or faceshields, so it won't be too different for some.

How do you enforce no tailgating. I mean I guess they could eliminate those magic yellow ropes to make drinking illegal, but eating a brat in a public parking lot isn't a crime is it? And with 20% capacity, there should be plenty of room to spread out.
my guess is standing outside your car for long periods in designated football parking areas OR maybe just no chairs/tents/tables/lawn sports... Just a guess though... I gotta believe if you want to stand outside your car while eating food and/or drinking your choice of beverage (not in a beer/alcohol can or bottle) should be fine. Don't know how they police that... who knows. I am sure there will be loopholes that people will take advantage of.
I mean, worst case scenario, I'd just sit in my car and drink.

Having got a DUI about 7 years ago, I know this way too well... unfortunately not many people know this.
With fobs now that don't even go into a keyslot, you gotta be sitting in the backseat to avoid being "driving".. (Speaking as someone who carries a sleeping bag, blanket and pillow in my back seat "{just in case" lol)
Even then they will try the "well what was to stop them from moving up to the drivers seat and taking off" argument. I haven't slept in my car in a long while but used to leave the key on a rear tire or in the trunk when I did if it was after drinking. Field parties used to be a thing and we wouldn't always bring camping gear.
Hire the Nissan Pavilion parking lot crews....that's how you get rid of tailgaitng.
Lots don't open until 2 hours prior to the game start time. That would eliminate much of it.
My money is on VT easily being able to enforce a stupid rule with 1/8th of the normal fans there. There will be plenty of golf cart dudes breaking up anything that looks like fun. They could go as far as virginia's open container law to be real strict about it.

I'd still rather do this than NO football.

2020 should have been a monthly subscription and cancelled already.
2020 gave us a free trial, and it started okay....but the free trial was over, and then boom! Kobe died.
And it's only gone downhill from there.
They have to say no tailgating. You commoners can't be trusted to distance yourselves in an 80% empty parking lot.
Just have to bring 1000 bags for cornhole. Have someone in a hazmat suit grab em and burn them after every throw. Problem solved there. Just gonna need an entire parking lot in order to properly distance ourselves during the "Wobble" portion of the tailgate.
Or, instead of bean bags you use a cheap rod and reel with those plastic practice plugs. Try to cast into the hole and reel it in afterward. Social distancing is preserved and no cross-contamination. You only have to worry about newbies accidentally hurting someone or hitting a car, but there should be plenty of empty space in the lot to spread out and reduce that.
