so VT-UVA goes from the last regular season game to the first.

Just like we all predicted

I do art stuff.

All the time to prepare for the annihilation and reclamation of the cup and to shut up the bohoos from the start.

Directions from Blacksburg to whoville, go north till you smell it then go east until you step in it

Something something advantage.

Just taking some cues from Iowa/Iowa State and Colorado/Colorado State.

The Orange and Maroon you see, that's fighting on to victory.

Well done dave. This is succint news, and this bit.

Potentially the game could be moved to 9/26

Is as relevant to VT football as it can get.

As for anyone else joining this thread. Refrain from sharing your opinions on COVID and focus discussion on how this could affect our upcoming game against NC State.

Thanks, I was worried about starting a new thread honestly, but it's important news related to the actual game vs. NC State.

I didn't even know about the potential postponement of our game until you posted this. So I'm glad you did.

Was excited to gain a leg up on UVA by playing a game Week 1 while UVA sits at home breaking rocks.

Regardless of whether VT should beat UVA this year or not, it's a rivalry game and anything can happen. I wanted VT to have a week of play under their belt. Losing this NC State game Week 1 would hurt.

Balanced with not putting any film out there for the Hoos to study and limiting injury risks. I'd call it a wash.

A decade on TKP and it's been time well spent.

UVA did break a rock, after all...

Fuck UVA. I want my cup back
Let's fucking get it!!!

Well, if the NC State opener is postponed, both UVA and VT would have an open date week 1. Let's move it up a week. What are they scared of?

What are they scared of?

Could we play them on consecutive weekends, so we can beat them twice in a row?

Like Bob Barker v. Happy Gilmore.

A decade on TKP and it's been time well spent.

That was the best part of that movie. After all who doesn't want to punch Adam Sandler in the face?

This actually makes the most sense for both teams. UVA would then have a bye in week 2, and maybe by week 2 NCSU could have a team to field. Then we could retain our 9/26 bye for any other shuffling of the schedules that may be necessary.

Oh, nvm, I guess that would mean rescheduling NCSU week 2 opponent.

It seems that moving NC State to Sep 26 means we play 10 games straight with no bye. First weekend off after games begin would be November 28. I feel like that's a lot to ask of the players.

They could just have players held out for quarantine, which would be completely fine with me.

I feel like that's a lot to ask of the players.

As long as the schools get their sweet sweet football money, I don't think anyone in power is going to care.

More reason to think the game will be postponed - NC State had a scrimmage on Saturday. I think that potentially could mean the entire team is going to be in a two week quarantine regardless of whether they have tested positive or not.

Shoot, they can do their 2 week quarantine, and still have 4 days to prepare.

Now finish up them taters; I'm gonna go fondle my sweaters.

I don't think the 14 days applies...I'm not trying to get into Covid, still trying to keep this focused on the impact to football schedule...But won't a negative Covid test taken a day or 3 after being isolated from those who just tested positive clear the players? I think there are things they can do with testing to clear the players sooner than 14 days.

EDIT: obviously if they have a substantial number of players who tested positive, then they may not be able to field a complete team. That is a different story.

You would think the negative tests would immediately clear people, but generally, it seems that's not how it works. I got tagged as COVID Czar for my command last month, so it's all I've been doing lately. For us, if you had contact with a confirmed positive case, you have to test negative, be symptom free for 72 hours, and it has to have been 7 days since contact before they clear you to return to work. ACC protocol may be different, but it's probably similar.

Can we move that other none conference state school game to get one in week 1?

Wet stuff on the red stuff.

If we're really serious about actually playing football this year, I still wish the ACC, B12, and the SEC would get on the same page and not kickoff until the last weekend in September. The SEC is already doing that, and it's smart.

More time for dust to settle, and things to be shaken out.

Leonard. Duh.

While I like that, I want to get the cup back from UVa as soon as possible.

And in other news, water is wet. I mean honestly, what did they really expect?

I think it's becoming more and more clear that at least the first week or two will be played... more than one school and even team have had clusters, but no one has canceled. I think it will take something drastic for it to be canceled before the first week of games.

However, when the season starts, what happens if a team you played recently has a cluster? For example, Tech and UVA play and UVA has a cluster of positives on the Tuesday after the game. Would Tech then have to quarantine? Or is Tech also getting tested often and, if they're negative, okay?

I've been operating under the assumption that the season would not happen since early summer. I would be perfectly happy to trounce LOLUVa and then have the NCAA cancel the season afterwards. Claim co-champions with all the other undefeated teams and put the cup back where it belongs.

Maybe us losing the cup was the catalyst for a wild 2020 and getting it back would fix everything.
