I'm curious which TKPers are current students at Tech (undergrad, graduate or otherwise). I'm interested to hear what your perspective is on the fall semester is. Are you making any adjustments? Has the communication from the administration been good? Are you confident in the plan?

Currently in grad school. Communications I think have been good overall, and a decent attempt has been made to crowdsource input on how to approach the fall and subsequent semesters. However, my perspective is from an online only program. When things hit back in March I don't think any of the professors in my program missed a beat because everything was online already, and the only reason we had an extended spring break was because we followed the schedule changes for the rest of the university. The summer program didn't miss a beat either, and I expect a very smooth Fall in terms of delivery and the usual set of online interaction I have had pre and post COVID.
This message just came out a few minutes ago as well from Sands (Link). Looks like the testing lab that was setup in Roanoke over the summer will be largely dedicated to testing faculty/staff/students.
I was also reminded this morning about the mandatory COVID-19 awareness training that all campus students are required to take before returning.
The university sent out a note this morning recapping week 1 of the semester and re-shared the COVID-19 dashboard to track current cases. I'm part of the distance program so this doesn't really impact me, but it will be interesting to see how these numbers evolve over the next few weeks.
Find it really surprising that only one current student shares comments on a post that's been up for two weeks.
Personal anecdote, I didn't find TKP until my Junior year and not a ton of my friends frequented the site while I was in school.
I had a similar experience when I was an undergrad before graduating in '02 - It was late in my junior year that I was introduced by a friend to TSL (HokieCentral at the time). I wouldn't have known about it otherwise because I was so heads-down on my coursework. Now as a grad student my current work/life/school balance is way different and allows a lot more time for interaction on places like TKP.
Same. I didn't find it until around junior year. I didn't make an account until after I graduated and just lurked reading the posts and comments. I never revisited threads either.
yep. I remember stumbling across tailgatefever in college and thinking it was hilarious, but that was primarily limited to the hokie update once a week. After college, working a desk showed me boredom I'd never known before and I started trying to find something to fill my time/distract me from work so I could think clearly. I tried facebook (bad idea) and even the ESPN ACC blog (mama giraffe). For a while I frequented IllinoisHokie's site (firebryanstinespring), but that that shuttered and I made my way here. I could never stomach the format over at TSL so here I am. Looking back, there's no way I would have ever spent as much time on here as an undergrad as I did a few years ago. It's tapered off a bit since a promotion at work has left me less bored web surfing and more stressed web surfing.
Dinich must be living on cloud nine now that her annual dreams of Clemson being the best team in the ACC have been true since 2015. If Miami ever becomes the consistent 2nd best team she will have fully ascended.
I'm pretty sure I've been holding a grudge against HD for over 10 years, and she hasn't even covered the ACC for the past 7 of those.
I think when you're a student, you live in the middle of VT, and everyone's discussing, so you don't need a message board because you can do it in person. The value in TKP is that it provides a virtual VT community for those of us that don't have one where we live.
