Signs seems to point to Virginia Tech having its stud transfer running back and slot threat available this season.
Hearing that #Hokies have finally gotten some relief from the NCAA. Rutgers transfer Raheem Blackshear's waiver appeal is expected to be granted, making him eligible this season.β Mike Barber (@RTD_MikeBarber) September 1, 2020

DRINK!
(jk this is worth a new thread, but please do drink if you feel so inclined, it's 5 o'clock somewhere)
It's 2020 everywhere. Drink whenever and where ever you want. There are no rules anymore.
They must have heard about our TKP plan to play him anyway. Finally, the NCAA is listening to us.
On a more serious note, this is very very good news and I'm glad to see our compliance department finally got one right.
Hopefully its the beginning of a trend!
Nice!
Holy shit. The NCAA actually (apparently) reversed one of their screw jobs? It is going to be an early winter because hell just froze over.
The NCAA admitted a mistake?
And it worked out for us!
VT to the NCAA today
The NCAA:

Yeah, accidents like my kid in her diapers.
She does smile really big, though.
she's so qualified
I doubt very much that they admitted to a mistake. And while they don't publish the info, my guess is that it would go something along the lines of "we advised VT on how to properly follow the process". Which in our case might actually be closer to the truth than we'd like to admit. But whatever, I'll take yes for an answer and hope that our compliance people learned something in the process.
...I mean it's not official yet...so they still have time to reverse-reverse their decision and continue the screw job.
Yea, maybe we need to tamp down the excitement, NCAA hates VT getting too excited and having too much fun...
Screw that, we may only get one chance to rub the NCAA's nose in their own shit, might as well fully commit to the bit
NCAA be like:
Then they'll Hooker's test scores are suspect...

(had to keep the Neeson gifs going)
He posted "5 is free" on his Instagram today, so unless the NCAA is pulling one hell of a bamboozle, it looks like he'll play.
Doesn't feel real to get good news in regards to transfer eligibility, but this is GREAT NEWS!
HOKIES!!!!!!!!
They must've misread the appeal
Can I get an AMEN FAM?!!
The NCAA admitted a mistake AND it goes in our favor?!!! It's a MIRACLE!!!! Now if they would just apologize to Brock Hoffman.....
What is up with all the LN gifs?π
Anyway I'll buy in. Good for us!
This is awesome news! Evidently the dude has been tearing up fall camp, can anyone confirm or deny this?
There's been nothing but positive news about his on field impact so far.
The compliance department gets a win, the support staff hires a new director level position. Looks like everything's coming up Milhouse!
Boom.
This is my all time favorite 20 seconds or so of The Simpsons.
I'll see your Coming Up Milhouse and raise you Homer trying to figure out what to do after he lit the M-320 firework on the gas stove and half of the fuse burnt off.

NCAA approves a VT waiver? Cancelled season incoming
WHY DID THIS REQUIRE AN APPEAL? This should've been approved to begin with.
This is great news, but fuck the NCAA still.
Now we wait and see about other waiver and then UVA waiver appeal.
Who else are we waiting on? I'd only heard about Blackshear.
Yep your right I was thinking of that Kansas WR. But he is good.
#sauces
Schiano was the reason the waiver was denied initially.
Schiano is made of dicks.
100%
This would not surprise me one damn bit. That guy is a classic example of an a$$hole coach that only has a job because he's won at tough places (see also Petrino, Bobby)
Right. Sciano "won" at Rutgers... which really meant 8-4/7-5 and no watered down big east titles. Even Edsall won one of those. At Rutgers they throw a parade for 7 wins. He got them ranked high that one year because Trained Geese (smartly) gamed the big east schedules so that none of the good teams played until late in the season. Overrated.
Oh I agree that he is overrated. I honestly don't understand the appeal - he wins some but not dominantly, and he's earned his reputation of being a prick.
You can be a prick if you win big (Bobby Knight is the all-time example, Coach K and Saban to a lesser extent) but if you're above average it's going to wear thin.
Normally I just lurk, but figured I could chime in on this one since I have a close friend who works in Athletics for Rutgers. As he tells it, the story is a blend of our favorite Transfer Portal Theories: 1) VT did not file the waiver properly and 2) Schiano and Rutgers football had an opportunity to take the high road and help the kid out but decided not to since they feel he quit on the team last year. He doesn't know how the appeals process played out, but was surprised Blackshear got cleared.
We should allow RUTSgers the opportunity to come into Lane next year to get curb stomped and embarrass the sh!t out of Schiano as a thank you!
Nah, send em to Morganhole to play the cousins. Let them both do whatever it is they do together.
I read on the pay side of TSL for the reason his waiver was rejected in the first place and it is interesting.
This does not compute, don't they know he transferred to our school and not away from it?
I envision him being used in our offense the same way WVU used Tavon Austin in 2012. He can play wideout or running back and is very explosive. Also, I think this will help a lot with the loss of Damon Hazelton. I think Robinson has the ability to play outside, and now he won't necessarily be needed in the slot with Blackshear there. This was HUGE for the offense.
As someone who said it would never be approved- because they never are- I am very happy to be wrong here. Very happy for this young man- he is ready to contribute and will be a key piece this season. LETS GO
:O did we find the most 2020 comment of all time ???????????????????????????????????????????????????
Fam!
Love Grandma's Boy!! ππ
We all know the only reason they approved it is they know the season wont be a full season that really matters anyway once it gets shut down after 1 or 2 games. /s
Commonwealth Cup, come to papa!
Unbelievably awesome news! Let's freaking go!!!
Quite a formidable backfield now.
playmaker
really gets after it
If his game play in NCAA 14 is any indication, this kid will be something special
Glad to hear about Blackshear but IT WAS STILL A CATCH!
Too much Liam. Not enough Emma. Have a leg.
Can't wait to see Blackshear run the jet sweep like it's never been ran before!
As in, quickly!
Is it crazy to think this dude is worth a TD per game to our scoring avg? Seems crazy, but not.
Depends how much he can open up the playbook.
Now that we have our Slot guy, Tavyon can finally be Tre's John Taylor
This year is going to be exciting!
Now we can run the formation with 11 rbs, the other team will have no clue who will get the ball.../s
