Mack Brown, who united the Texas football program upon his arrival in 1998 and led the Longhorns to their first national title in 35 years, will announce he is stepping down after 16 years as UT's football coach, two high-level sources told Orangebloods.com.

Alabama not in the NC.
Saban has gotta be gonzo.
Start up Foster to Bama talk!
But wait, there's more!
Board of Regents to meet Thursday.... to confirm that Mack Brown is stepping down.
To ensure if he doesn't step down that he will be relieved of his duties.
This is going to be fun.
Mack Brown to 247: "I'm in FL recruiting. If I had decided to step down I sure wouldn't be killing myself down here (to get the University of Florida job)."
HAHA - University of Florida: Chomping up all of the former University of Texas coaches.
What? A rumor post that doesn't make any unbased claims and posts actual sources for information?
#Sources
'high level' sources that is...who are keeping anonymous.
This apparently from Saban, "No I am not considering Texas. If I were, I would not be killing myself trying to prepare for Oklahoma. Shit!"
You can ask Saban about Texas, but please dear goodness NEVER ask Saban about McCarron being on the cover of Sports Illustrated... or this happens.
LOL. That Saban, he'll get after ya.
Saban might have the personality of cardboard, but when it comes to stuff like this, he's right. He's a football coach, ask him about football.
Everyone I know that roots for Texas wants him gone. This could be even more ugly than Florida State & the Dadgum Coach.
To qualify this statement, everyone that I know that roots for Texas (which is a lot, since I'm from Houston), doesn't know dick about football.
This is going to require my slightly larger glasses.
FWIW: ESPN posted this yesterday
"Mack Brown's buyout only $2.75M"
http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/10109592/mack-brown-only-...
That's the equivalent of about 35 bucks to the average American.

Nick Saban Paged at Austin Airport to meet his car at the curb side check in.... nice prank, Austin, nice prank.
Whether the rumors are true or not, that's funny right there.
That was certainly the first worthwhile thing (as in worth the 30 seconds it took to click and read) I have ever read from Bleacher Report. Thanks for sharing.
And to think a little over a week ago i got shit from a bunch of people saying no way. Your posts are as good as the weather channel. well 0 fucks were given!!!! Enjoy Maybe I should make some degrading posts about the people but instead ill be a man.
It's all in the delivery, and what supporting evidence you give. wisec4g just comes across a little less sensational. "sources indicate" vs "ALL but a DONE deal", linking to a rivals site instead of saying he saw some Texas fans
panickingcelebrating on a forum.I get it but there was no need for the prick response I got about the weather channel... and you know us Engineers are not the best writers to begin with. Just didn't see the need for that response.
Regarding the Weather Channel image, it was a way at using humor to convey "do better" posted by one of the folks (Billdozer) that make this site possible. I'm an engineer too, so I understand the lack of skill with prose. However, when you post a forum topic, take an extra minute to come up with a sensible title that accurately describes what you're posting. There's no need to sensationalize a thread, people will click and read it regardless. That's how the community here is. This website is one of the few that has forum topics listed on the homepage. Titles you write are easily seen by everyone hitting the homepage, so a little extra time and care before you post would be appreciated.
Mack isn't going to go down without a fight.
I only hope we don't go through something like this.
When it's time, and only then, I hope Coach FBeams does it.
Otherwise...yikes.
Then there's this from ESPN:
"Texas coach Mack Brown is expected to resign by the end of the week, a source told ESPN's Brett McMurphy."
http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/10116548/texas-longhorns-...
Who is "expecting" this? Is it Mack Brown himself? The Texas AD? One of their biggest donors? Those three drunk Baylor fans at that one tailgate on Saturday?
Is anyone else getting a sadly comical flashback to Greenberg a couple years ago? Recruiting, thinks he has a job, gets fired....
Or, the reverse, Insanity Foster:
Turns down head coach job interview to continue recruiting
Adam Spolane of SportsRadio 610 (CBS Houston) says Mack Brown will resign on Friday: http://houston.cbslocal.com/2013/12/12/source-mack-brown-to-resign-frida...
Yeah, that's what I've been hearing on the local radio shows (ESPN & Fox Sports) here as well. Texas has a huge football banquet tomorrow night and it could be a "going-away" party for Mack (should he decide to step down).
"decide"
If Chip Brown reports it, I'll listen to it. Isn't today Friday?
