What's the deal with Oklahoma's game being on PPV? I'd assume Fox would have broadcast rights to the game and would want to air it on one of their networks.
I'm guessing they are testing out how much money they can make going PPV for an FCS game versus selling the rights to a broadcaster.
Also while looking in to it, I found this tidbit of info on the Missouri State game notes to be pretty hilarious:
TIL which conference NDSU is in.
$55 to watch them smack Missouri State around. If VT did this, I'd probably bitch and moan, and then pay the $55 because I am desperate to watch VT football.
They did a similar thing for their game against South Dakota last year. Must have made enough to do it again?
They also did it for their game against Army in 2018 that they almost lost.
It was a big deal on r/cfb because some guy was streaming the end of the game live and it became a meme because a huge number of people (myself included) were trying to watch this potential upset on this exceptionally poor quality stream.
I think there's an obligation for one game a year. I read about it with that Army OT game a few years ago, but I can't recall the exact details around it.
The Eric King could be a problem.
The former Wake DB?
D'Eriq
Bold prediction one of the top 3 QB upperclassmen in the ACC call it's before the end of the season. King is a strong candidate.
Call what
I still think Miami's offensive line isn't good enough to keep a quarterback upright enough. King is better equipped for it than any quarterback they've had recently, but I don't think he will stay fully healthy all year.
UAB
Yep. Unless JHam switches things up, a mobile QB like him has been an achilles heel for VT for years (yep, I am well aware of the road split deep efficiency stats that say BC's QB, Kentucky's QB and Perkins running free all over the field are not an indication we can't stop mobile QBs compared to other mid tier ACC schools) but yes, King will be a problem if the scheme isn't changing. He will convert a critical 3rd and 12 with his legs- bank on it.
UAB is Killing themselves with the pre-snap penalties.
Also, don't see transfer DE Roche on the field for scUM.
Tate is a QB now?
Long game ahead but Miami better knock the rust off.
I cracked and got a 2 week trial of YouTube tv. Miami looking rusty, and uab wants to take advantage
Welp
#GoACC
Did you guys see the Ole Miss cup that had a porn star pictured on it. Lol
I always knew Johnny was a hero
I love this fucking sport.
From a school that has their own medical, dental and pharmacy school along with a hospital this is amazing. No one thought to just take pictures of their own actual doctors?
The ties don't match and the guys, while both bald don't look like the same person to me.
Ummm, same guy, different times. And no, he's not a doctor.......
I think we might need to do more research
This guy knows his male pornstars.
They didn't even use a Google Image search for a doctor. They used a Bing Image search.
Bing? Bang? What's the difference? Amirite?
Was Hugh Freeze consulted on this? Cause this seems like right up his alley.
Timeout!
Have the pro game on cause the only live tv I get right now is over the air channels. It just feels good to have a good brew in my hand watching some ball. Cheers hokie bros π»
The Texans have 4 Johnsons on their roster...I'm just gonna leave that there.
Bunch of Dicks.
D'Eriq King running the ball = good.
D'Eriq King throwing the ball = questionable at best.
He can throw it real hard though.
Got that Logan Thomas arm. (Not really, but close)
Very questionable decision making. He has a good arm but takes a lot of risks throwing the football. Doesn't seem super comfortable in the pocket either. Still an extremely dangerous runner though.
Kid throws a beautiful deep ball...just not close to anyone.
Folks have said the same thing about my drives. "Holy shit that ball is crushed!....wrong fairway, but still!"
I like Wiggins kicking the UAB defender, getting a 15 yard personal, and they talk about Manny Diaz working on improving discipline and oh, Wiggins lines up for the next play instead of being pulled to the sideline for a talking to. I guess there is discipline and scUM discipline. Yep, that Manny he's a player's coach.
Miami and Florida State are living proof you can only do so much to scheme away having a bad offensive line. All the skill guys in the world can't carry you the whole way.
Miami's OL seems to be about the same. UAB getting good penetration.
Leave it to UM to both be questionably worrying as a team and lackluster at the same time.
If it wasn't for the fact that we have an unknown quantity with the defense coaching staff (Which I have a lot of positive hope for), I would feel that Tech will have few problems with this Miami team.
... Miami
Just run?
Crowd shots at Miami games never fail to be nothing but dudes in their late 30s who quit growing up in 2003.
Dey so Bak []__[]
Amazed it too this long to see this.
Wake getting gameday for the first time ever for a game they'll get killed in a year after having their best team since they won the ACC in 2006 is some kind of cosmic joke.
Fun fact: one of UAB's quarterbacks (third stringer, I believe) is Dylan Hopkins. He was once interested in Tech, and I believe an article was done about his recruitment on TKP. His dad, Archie, went to VT back in the early 90s.
Miami are intriguing but alot of broken plays for their OL not doing a great job. All that said King looks elusive in the backfield and a strong runner. His arm was decent but he seemed to miss some reads and didnt look right throwing the deep ball but maybe more practice will fix that issue.
Today was supposed to be Penn State day... π
Was looking forward to it for years. We always go to a game for my birthday and usually it's a Delaware or William and Mary tier opponent but this year it was Penn State.
Godamn you 2020. Godamn you straight to hell.
Just came here to say FUCK UNC!
That is all.
If Joel Klatt woke up this morning thinking he'd never have to work an Arkansas State game, today might be the worst day of his life
Looks like Eugene Asante is starting. π
UNC defense looks pretty good so far. I'm not sure what their weak spot could be. They seem to be outplaying their offense at the moment.
Though Syracuse is shooting themselves in the foot at the moment. Didn't take advantage of a turnover in unc territory. Penalties on 3rd and short on multiple occasions and the BIG penalty that brought back the punt return TD.
Punt return was ridiculous. Feel bad for that kid.
A second turnover in UNC territory, if they don't take advantage here they're probably done.
I think both teams have looked very sloppy. Howell continues to impress though.
All these teams shaking off the rust.
Cuse could be tied or winning this game easily.
Should have stopped that last sweep for a short gain if 27 doesn't get held.
I'm glad I wasn't the only one who saw that.
I'm beginning to feel like the quickest way to make an average OL look pretty darn good is to learn the fine art of holding without getting the flag.
I'm just stuck on deciding whether certain lines are really that much better at disguising it or refs favor certain teams.
UNC biggest weakness so far looks like the OL.
I haven't been overly impressed by their DB's overthrows and straight drops on multiple occasions by Cuse.
#3 for Syracuse must have oiled up before the game. Dudes just fall off of him.
Howell stared down that deep ball INT the entire way.
Cuse should be up by 14-24 points by now.
Hopefully this deflates the UNCheat hype. They have looked mediocre.
OL looks bad, which may not just be first game rust, but overall both teams just look sloppy and rusty as we've seen in several other games. It's not wise imo to draw too many conclusions from week one in most seasons, but especially this one.
Nope, the announcers just repeated over and over that NC has a "high powered offense".
Combined that with the post game squad claiming they're "no longer a basketball school" and the UNCheat hype train is all gas no breaks.
Watching Syracuse feels like watching a stinespring led tech offense. Defense is doing what it needs and offense just leaving tons of points out there.
Yes, it now looks like the Syracuse offense wore out the Syracuse defense. Been there, done that.........
Reminder that Duke - ND is about to start. We'll get to see Chase Brice in action.
holy cow, the Collinsworth kid has the same voice as his dad.
Ha, I thought the same thing. Looks enough like him too that is was kind of disorienting.
I was a long way from the tv and playing with my 7 month old, looked up and thought - something has changed about Chris.
Ragin Cajuns going up big on a Punt Return TD. Could be an interesting finish in Ames
Between there and Boone, veryyyy interesting finishes with two programs that expected huge things this year. K-State not looking too hot either.
Edit: Boone funzies is gone.
Just tuned into this one. Charlotte is holding their own and getting some confidence.
Arkansas State is going for broke- two successful trick plays in a row and a first and goal away from taking the lead
Early Afternoon Thoughts:
Notre Dame looking sloppy as hell early. Very common theme so far.
Dazz is a very fitting name for such a fun player to watch.
I think Notre Dame's ceiling is hard capped with Book at QB, but I hope to be proven wrong when they play Clemson.
The rout is on in Chapel Hill. They knocked off the rust and are putting it on them now.
Louisiana (formerly ULL) has been fun to watch the last three years. Napier is likely waiting for an SEC job to open up, but he's a hot candidate right now. Some real NFL talent on the OL and at RB during this period.
Iowa State continues to be an untrustworthy and confounding team. They've provided CFB at large with a lot of important things in recent years, like Heacock's 3-3-5, and some upsets/close calls for top teams, but also seem to be addicted to playing to their competition.
With only getting antenna tv, I'm having a ton of fun watching Arkansas State and opening up the whole playbook on K State.
This game is a lot of fun. K-State's diminutive RBs are really good. But A-State's WR
DavisAdams has been phenomenal. That dude was almost unstoppable for them today. Either K state made him look good or he could be headed to a larger school next year.
The Hawkeyes can kiss that ranking goodbye
Wrong University in Iowa friend.
Wrong Iowa team mascot. Cyclones is Iowa State.
thats what i get for posting distracted... work work, school work, 4 YO that wants to play kitchen, and a new puppy peeing all over the place...
K-State A-State going down to the wire.
Sun Belt 2-0 vs the Big 12. Coastal Carolina tries to make it 3 tonight
Bill Roth is about to be on ESPNU. Thought people might want to tune in and hear him call a game.
Go Fighting Camels πͺ
Campbell up 13-3 in the first quarter. Big South team that just added scholarships two years ago.
2nd game vs FBS school since the football program restarted in 2008.
Pretty sure I'm talking to myself... But if anyone is watching VT would look amazing with Campbell's uniform set if you switched their orange with maroon and the black with orange.
Wouldn't be bad. Similar to the Tyrod white jerseys but without the side panels.
Coincidentally those were my favorite uniform set VT had.
The all black unis that Campbell has are really clean too.
Camels almost pulled it out. Good with the decision to go for the win at the end. Wish the ref would've called defensive holding though...
What a mistake by 26 on Ark State with that personal foul
I haven't been able to watch much today, but between the UM game on Thursday and what I have seen so far there is definitely something missing and these games dont feel normal to me.
A fuckton of fans and a fuckton of unfuckedwith practice? Yeah, same here, man.
Sun Belt 2
Big XXII 0
Best part of football being back so far!
#FunBelt
That look on Book's face after the endzone pick π
Hilarious to me they decided to throw 1st down on their own 10
It still feels weird watching GT throw.
Gonna take about 5 years, young Collins. Folks outside of cfb fandom don't understand my hatred of PJ even after explanation...they just don't know!
Seeing so many fans in the seats in the FSU game is like salt in the wound of today's news. I can't believe I'm cheering for GT right now but please beat the tomahawk chop shit heads
Wouldn't be September football in the state of Florida without the obligatory lightning delay.
Coach Cut might be the only dude who looks younger with a beard.
"Blindside block" just ruined a great return by Texas State. I hate most of these new rules. It was a nice finalizing non-de-cleater, just kind of sealing off the last guy. Might not have even been blindside since it was shoulder to shoulder.
I didn't see it as it happened, but Kaindoh for FSU injured his leg by a cut block from GT. I know everyone here is shocked that GT could injure someone using a cut block tactic.
After watching the GT game I have decided both teams are absolute ass.
Anyone know why Wiles didn't offer Carlos Basham from Roanoke?
He was ranked .8161. Could you have imagined the outrage around here if we had offered that kid a scholarship? I'm really happy for the kid! I do wish we'd found that diamond... but good for him!
Blackman is a cursed player. I always think he's going to be good and bad things keep happening to him at FSU. I hope he grad transfers somewhere and wins.
The struggles of the F$U O-Line continue.

Bumblebees winning bad. Noles losing good. I don't know what to feel.
Noles losing good. Feel good.
0-4 and in the last 4 years openers. I am glad that we helped contribute to that streak.
Clemson clearly doesn't believe in the mask...
I didn't realize that the start of Wake's season got postoned. I was hoping to find them on ESPN tonight, but they never showed up.
Hey it looks like Jeremy Webb got a pick off of Oklahoma.
Kansas is doing their best to keep the Big 12 winless against the Sun Belt today. Coastal is making them look bad right now.
The announcers in this game are entertaining. It kinda stinks that our minor league club is getting beat so badly (Kansas).
Texas Tech is playing Houston Baptist a little too close for comfort. This is fun!
If someone asked me which of these two teams is a P5 member, and which is a G5 member, I would've gotten wrong if I didn't know the real answer. Kansas looks SO bad right now. The Chanticleers literally just scored again as I'm typing this up.
The first 4 Kansas possessions: Fumble, Int, Punt, Missed FG. Ouch.
Les Miles makes like 6 times what the CCU HC does.
Watching Kansas light its pile of basketball money on fire has been satisfying.
