Well this sucks.
Well shit, teams usually lose the week after playing Clemson
Shit, I just realized this puts us on the Army/Navy game weekend. That will be odd.
Oof... They better get favorable kickoff times then. I haven't missed watching Army-Navy in 15 years (including last year when I got married that day, don't tell my wife) and don't want to break that streak...
It is for times like this that God invented TIVO.
We won't be the only team playing on that weekend though - pretty sure the SEC and B10 will be as well.
On the 12th day of Christmas my Hokies gave to me....(reply with your answers)
12 players quarantined
11 players playing
10 coaches leaping
9 celebration dances
8 min 4th quarter clock milking
7 DE swim moves
6 UVA eggs laying
5 ACC Championship Rings!
4 Fans flipping birds
3 Delaware Hens
#2 scoring in droves
and a Common wealth cup back in Merryman!
EDIT: fixed last line to fit song format.
On the 5th day of Christmas my Hokies gave to me....Five....Healthy....Linemen

🎶FIIIIIIIIIIIIIVE-STAR RECROOOOOOOOOOOTS🎶
That would really make it Christmas for sure!

My #sauces tell me Bronco is scrambling to get UVA Wise on the schedule December 5th and a bye November 28th.
So they get to keep the cup a little over a year.
Longer than I wanted, but them's the breaks.
So when will ACCCG be played? Did I miss that? Is it the 19th?
I believe so, it would be odd to play UVA after we had already beaten Clemson for the ACC championship.
Before it was fun to think how we could play Clemson back to back. Now it's even more fun watch people's heads explode if we play UVA two weeks in a row
Not a big fan. Wish we could have rescheduled them earlier, preferably next weekend and we shift N.C. State to later.
Possible ACC football bubble with no students on campus:
"Outrage! These are not pro athletes. Where are our priorities? Education first!"
Possible ACC basketball bubble at a neutral arena:
"This makes complete sense and is the best thing for the safety of the players, like the NBA!"

You just knew the ACC would be largely ambivalent about football season, but come hell or high water, we gonna see some Tobacco Road round ball!
Maybe
Not sure if this has been discussed, but I wonder if they would consider moving the game inside the practice facility if there isn't going to be fan attendance? I worry about Worsham field holding up that time of the year. It usually looks a little sketchy the last game or two. Plus, the overall weather in Blacksburg in mid December is not ideal. Why not play the game in comfortable conditions, especially if fans aren't allowed in anyway?
I am so down for a game in the Beamer Barn. That would be awesome.
The overall weather in Blacksburg is rarely ideal. We've had 70 degree days in November and snow in May.
Depending on the phase by our governor, and the will of the people wearing masks and fighting this virus over the next 3 months, we might have butts in seats.
We will get a crowd for UVA at Lane. And getting what is rightfully ours back.
Not that the practice facility is a super-enclosed space but indoor vs outdoor has been a huge factor in basically all Covid safety debates. I don't think there's any world where we play a game indoors when there's perfectly good outdoor fields right next to it. Worsham Field would probably have to be literally unplayable for it to happen, not just "sketchy," and even then I think it's more likely they'd outright cancel than play indoors.
Interesting thought, my only question would be whether the facility is set up for a TV broadcast? There might be some weird viewing angles.
My guess is that the biggest hurdle would be that it likely isn't set up to be used for TV broadcasts.
It is for limited TV, lacrosse, field hockey etc.
Isn't also less than 100 yds?
Simple solution — once the drive passes the 50 yard line, shift the next play back ten yards. Of course, during a long return or run/pass play, the teams will have to freeze momentarily, shift back ten yards, and then immediately restart like the momentary pause never happened. What could possibly go wrong? /s
Aren't there field heaters and drainage pumps under the field? Maybe we should turn those on.
Of course, to your point, at the end of the year the field might be beat up anyway but it looks like we'll be playing fewer games on it this year so maybe it'll be playable in December? Here's hoping.
Number of games is staying about the same. We're getting six, where a normal year is 6 or 7 (largely depending on which end of a P5 home-and-home we're on).
To compare to our original schedule, Liberty, uva, Miami, and BC were home games in both schedules. Penn State, North Alabama, and GT were replaced by NC State and Clemson.
But the field will be used less. The Corps won't be marching on each week, and I doubt the bands will be doing pregame or halftime shows.
Hope everyone tunes into Gameday this morning from Louisville...that was supposed to be in Blacksburg 😭😭
Makes the opening theme a bit harder to listen to this morning...
Good. I hope it snows a foot in Blacksburg.
