Did anyone else catch that coach's speech in the Coastal Carolilne pregame?
"We don't need no cats! We need more dogs! WRRRAAAOOO!!!"
I swear it was like watching something from a Super Troopers movie.
EDIT: Ooh! I found the coach's speech. They played this before ESPN left the studio.
Yeah, saw that... Golden!
That was 9 years ago...wow...
That was umm.... special.... Bless his heart.
I was concerned about the contents of my caramel apple sangria when I saw that. I think more alcohol was needed to even halfway understand that ramble.
HAD forgotten about that...thanks. Geeze.
Samuel Denmark sighting.
I forgot that was where he went.
Charlotte vs. UNC Chapel Hill is canceled
That was announced days ago.
Camel touchdown! πͺπͺπͺ
Extra point not so much...
Just turned on the game and I feel like I need to adjust the contrast on my monitor.
Wide receivers Heiligh and Likely both scored for Coastal Carolina last night.
Wow, that seems Heiligh unLikely to me
Oh my God
Is this a very subpar slate of games today? Yes.
Am I still going to watch football all day today? Yes.
Did I buy an extra 12pack of Torpedoes yesterday for this reason? Yes.
The original slate of week 3 games was way less subpar. A selection:
FSU @ Boise
Auburn @ Ole Miss
Georgia @ Bama
App State @ Wisconsin
USC @ Stanford
And it's an absolutely perfect day for tailgating π
How is Duke BC a P5 conference game not on TV?
I guess because, despite everything, it's Duke vs. BC.
Better game than Liberty WKU.
I'd rather be on ESPN3 than ESPNU. There's a whole lot of people that don't get ESPNU.
Hindsight says otherwise.
ACC RSN stuff is so, so, so, so bad.
Yeah, this is the worst I've seen for availability of an RSN game. Normally, we get it on NBC Sports Washington. Instead, they were showing some horse betting show while the overflow channel carried a picture of their logo. No excuse there.
Wondering how much longer that RSN deal is going to be lingering.
Hahaha Salty Pat comes up short at the half against Syracuse. Hope the orange backup QB can get his shit together in the second.
NEWS: Florida State announces head coach Mike Norvell has tested positive for COVID-19 after two negatives earlier this week.Chris Thomsen will take over head coaching duties for the time being.β Chris Vannini π· (@ChrisVannini) September 19, 2020 " target="_blank">
Lotta people on twitter saying he didn't coach last week either
GT confirmed that with their play today /s
Oklahoma State has been struggling to move the ball against Tulsa. Their starting QB has gone down as and off to the locker room.
Pitt does not look like a good football team.
Pulling for Tulsa here. Since VT football has been interrupted, I'm just rooting for chaos.
That's been my MO for these first two weeks. There haven't been any truly interesting or important matchups so far, so I've been fully committed to chaos.
I realized today that rooting is a little harder in the ACC with the no-divisions format. Normally, it would have been easy to root for 'cuse over Pitt just because it would help us in the Coastal. This year, it's too early to tell if it matters.
This is going to be a very sloppy year of play. These games have been UGLY today
The Syracuse/Pitt game was slop central. Syracuse will be hard pressed to win 2 games this year and Pitt will be lucky to be 0.500 this year. Their defense is good but their offense and special teams are both garbage.
Tulsa RB was going to walk in gets a brutal face mask against him. Instead Tulsa gets I points off their own penalties and missed FG and OKST is going to win.
Saved by the flag, there Tulsa. You're still going to have to tackle that RB at some point
Well that was as fast a start for GT as you can possible want. They made UCF look like a low level FCS team there.
Geoff Collins has a ton of momentum right now. Parents and recruits are loving his hometown ATL vibe and personality. They've had a few impressive recruiting wins and are trending up in that regard. It will be interesting to see how he plays out there. Making GT "cool" as a destination for Atlanta/Greater Atlanta talent could be huge for that program. They are really leaning into the city for their branding right now.
Also, Jahmyr Gibbs is going to be great. His senior film came out last year and he was getting attention from the top of the top programs.
Having your developmental players do curls on the sidelines before a game is certainly a thing to do.
Gah Tech coming out looking competitive against UCF....
damn it's so weird seeing GT have a QB that can throw the ball so well. They might actually be a problem now.....
In my opinion they are a major "stock up" program and team at the moment.
I think GT has comfortably joined UNC and Miami as threats to future Coastal dominance. Conversely, I have never and will continue to not believe in Pitt as a true threat.
VT transfer Cam Goode has been getting run in the UCF DL so far this game. I haven't seen Rico Kearney yet out there, but that doesn't mean he hasn't made an appearance. I've got multiple screens going at the moment.
GT's defense looks pretty hapless against the (possibly very good) UCF offense. However, the GT offense has had a tough luck game so far. Fumbled inside UCF's 10, had a short FG blocked, and just had a tipped pass at the line turn into a DL interception. Scoreline pretty misleading as to the competitiveness of this game so far.
Did I miss something? I thought the ACC was playing an all conference schedule. How are they playing Central Florida today?
No, we stuck with the 10+1, it's just that a lot of schools had their OOC team cancel.
Gotcha. Thanks. +1
SEC playing all conference. Big12 and ACC doing 10conf games + 1 OOC. Mostly garbage OOC games too.
As long as the OOC game meets ACC testing standards, is played at home of the conference team OR in the same state it's allowed.
Navy pulling out the comeback so far has been the highlight of some bad football games so far today. Might watch part of the Miami game or NCST game but so far its been rough. Also hadnt seen it mentioned yet but I'll watch the Miami game just to see if they talk about how Tathan has "opted out" of this season or not.
Dumb but fun is the 2020 season motto.
3 turnovers in 4 plays in UCF GT.
Took Syracuse (+21). Glad Pitt was too inept to take advantage of Syracuse's ineptitude
Neither of those teams are going to do anything in the ACC this year. Both are garbage. Syracuse slightly more garbage than Pitt.
Ummm you mean the #25 team in the country??
Yeah the same one where people think Kenny Stills is going to be an amazing QB, like Nathan Peterson good or something.
Kenny Pickett?
Unless Kenny Stills left the Texans and entered the transfer portal with a position change. /s
Looks like Cam Goode went down...
I hope conditioning wasn't a contributing factor
Still early but Miami looking pretty solid
Louisville playing too soft bringing only 3 and dropping 8. Not gonna work if King has all day to throw
Something...something.....Matt Ryan..
rain...no pressure.
But seriously...going Prevent in the 1stQ is not much of a long-term strategy.
I understand Louisville doesn't want to give King Lanes to run through, but letting him sit back there with zero pressure and wait for receivers to find soft spots in the zone obviously isn't working.
Louisville also cant capitalize on their scoring opportunities. Settling for field goals doesn't seem like its gonna work against this Miami offense
I don't think Satterfield is being aggressive enough in these decisions. Can't trade field goals for touchdowns in this game.
Wow! Miami kicker has a hell of a leg
From the logo lol
Louisville's LB Crew appears....underwhelming.
The coaching transition was worse for the defense for sure. Was already in bad shape plus the player exodus. They managed to hold onto a lot of the offensive pieces.
What the actual fuck was that Louisville?
That was a brutal blown coverage. Like, you can't just ignore the running back, especially with no one behind you to help out
lol@ Wake's safety Masterson coming on a blitz and ending up on the business end of a physics problem with an NC State guard.
That was a man running directly into a brick wall moment. He just got flattened.
Lousyville Linebackers and Secondary were dreadful. Three complete walk in Touchdowns on complete blown coverages.
Obviously VT is still yet to play, as well as UVA (lol), but so far Clemson is still just on another level from anything I've seen in the ACC. ND has some talent but I don't trust Book to win a tough game when they need it, and UNC until further notice is a bunch of hype. Jury still out on Miami. I will say that although they aren't great yet, I think GT is on the rise. Really impressed with Sims and what Collins is building down there.
GT is better but I still don't even think they're 7-8 win range next year. They need better athletes in the trenches if they're gonna beat anyone actually competent
