Bud Foster won't be coaching at UConn

According to Bruce Feldman, Notre Dame's DC will be the new UConn head coach.

Everyone relax a bit.

Hot damn, Oh Yeah! But I don't think he'd like it there to begin with.

Also, every time there's a rumor that Bud will bolt to some HC gig, the other ACC fan bases lap it up. They don't want him continuing to terrorize their offenses.

All together now, collective sigh of relief. I didn't really see him going to UConn, but whenever his name comes up for a HC vacancy, I get heart palpitations until he's out of the running.

What are the head coaching jobs that he'd actually leave Virginia Tech for? I remember when I was in college he said he would "jump through hoops to coach at Clemson". Then in Frank Beamer's book, he said he talked it over with his family and turn down the opportunity to be considered for Pittsburgh...I didn't think UConn was going to cut it.

I imagine Bama or Clemson for sure. He wants a job that puts him within striking distance of a national championship.

Or more accurately, he wants a job where there is a competent offense involved.

Definitely Clemson. A lot of folks really don't have an idea how close Coach Foster came to coaching Clemson. Back in 2008-09 our firm did some work for a client who happened to be a heavy, heavy hitter in the Clemson donor circle. There was a huge push to get Foster to campus. He said a few of boosters thought Foster reminded them of a fiery Danny Ford. Then the Fighting Swinneys beat the Cocks, and they liked Dabo's starting salary a lot better.

Leonard. Duh.

I never thought he'd leave for UConn, so all I can muster is a dancing stickman.

Diaco is a really good hire for UCONN. That was the guy many UVA fans were talking about to replace London before this season started.

I love Frank Beamer

But sometimes I'm not sure that Bud Foster isn't the one coach on staff that deserves the most credit for making Tech into a nationally relevant football program. How many 10 win seasons did Beamer have before Foster became "co" defensive coordinator in 95?

Zero. How many 10 win seasons after Foster took over? 13. Out of a possible 18.

Let's dig deeper... How many bowl appearances did Beamer have before Foster assumed control of BOTH sets of linebacker positions AND SPECIAL TEAMS in 93? Zero. How many bowl appearances after? 21 straight.

Frank Beamer deserves every bit of credit he receives for turning Virginia Tech football into a nationally recognized brand... But easily his greatest move was putting his trust in Bud Foster.

Where's that "dude clapping gif"?

Are you referring to this one?

Or possible George Costanza?

Here are a few other I found just for kicks:

And last but certainly not least, Zach Galifianakis.

Sweet! Bud will replace coach Beamer when he decides to hang it up.
