Week 4 Other Games Thread

I didn't see where anyone had started a thread for other games this week. So here it is!

I am really excited for the first week of the season where there is a decent amount of games on. Also, there were a lot of home underdogs getting multiple touchdown spreads. Good week to drink cold beer, gamble, and watch football.

Lot of home underdogs getting multiple touchdown spreads

Dual Screens for noon focusing Auburn-Kentucky and Ole Miss-Florida.

Might pop over to the OU game to see Rattler in action as well. I've seen a few names I trust saying he might have the most live arm of any of the OU QB's under Riley.

Pitt administration: sorry folks we just can't let anyone into the stadium

Pitt fans: yeah we weren't coming anyways

Louisville is terrible. Watching this game vs Pitt and their game against Miami, they are bad.

Kyle Pitts was so close to being a Hokie from what i remember and he is possibly the best offensive player on Florida's team this year.

A Joey Freshwater defense can make anyone look good

Eh, the defensive issues he inherited are from a couple years of scholarship reductions. I think his ability to construct a defense as a head coach won't be judged off this year. Freshwater's offense on the other hand has looked solid and creative so far, despite lesser weapons at some spots.

edit: As I say that, Ole Miss hits a trick play is goal to go again with a chance to take a lead on Florida.

edit2: will not be taking the lead because of a wacky tipped pass DL interception.

In the TKP Pick 6, I initially picked Ole Miss, then I remembered he was their coach and immediately switched to Florida.

A decade on TKP and it's been time well spent.

I cannot put into words how awful the ACCN broadcast is. It's like the camera folks are doing on the job training.

Is coronavirus over yet?

ACC is the worst P5 conference.... because of lack of money because of a shitty commissioner. This will continue to get worse bc the ACCN is total garbage

It's not just the ACCN. I've switching between games and it looks like ESPN wants all of their cameramen to zoom in way too far before the snap so you cannot even see all of the players on the field. Then once the ball is snapped they zoom in even more on the ball and you have no idea what is going on on the rest of the field.

Not to mention the ridiculously large chyron at the bottom that is covering a full 1/7th of the screen, so when they zoom in, half the play is covered up. People watch football on large TVs, we don't need scores that can be read from space.

This like trying to watch a game through a spy-glass that someone else us holding. Look at the OU/KSU game on Fox and it is like night and day.

I dont need the score if I am watching on a TV I have a phone!

I agree. I was watching the Auburn game and switched back to the Pitt game and the camera work is different and terrible

My guess is ESPN made less publicly visible budget cuts at the live production level and the result is showing.

A decade on TKP and it's been time well spent.

Or they are taking the opportunity to try some new stuff which is going to prove unpopular or ineffective.

This Pitt D is not looking so crisp today. Hope they continue to struggle. Fuck Pat Narduzzi

Pitts defense is very good, not sure you saw the same game as I watched.

I missed the 1st quarter but Pitt's D was definitely dominant the last 3 quarters. They are still weak against the pass but they put a ton of pressure on the QB...

Pitt had 7 sacks, and held loiuvillle to 223 yards of offense. Dominant looking defense.

The comment was made early. Several blown coverages leading to points by Louisville. They did not continue to struggle and had a solid outing overall

GT is losing 17-0 to 0-2 Syracuse. GT beat FSU. Moral of the story? FSU is hot garbage. Brings a tear to the eye. It's beautiful.

Except after Miami destroys them, we have to hear how The U is back some more.

Don't underestimate in-state rivalry games for unexpected craziness. If FSU is going to show up at all this year, versus the Hurrican'ts is when it happens. That said, this could be an epically bad year for the Noles, and you just hate to see it. /S

Love it. I took Syracuse (+7.5). Figured they were due a bounce back game and I think GT's stock is artificially inflated right now due the the FSU stank.

Louisville had the ball at their 25 with 50 seconds and two timeouts before the half. What do they do? Run it right into the teeth of the Pitt line and watch 30 seconds tick off the clock. Then they take a sack to end the half. πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

Louisville is making Kenny Pickett look good...wth

Good, it'll go to his head like last year.

The UK-AUB game has been the best game so far today. 2 teams that appear to be good and not just crazy plays from breakdowns.

"I'm too drunk to taste this chicken" - Colonel Sanders via Ricky Bobby

I finally flipped over to Louisville-Pitt, and I now know exactly what y'all we're talking about with the camera work. This is the worst I've ever seen for a sporting event in my life.

What? You didn't like the extreme zoom in shot of the Louisville player's belt line?

Maybe they're on their 3 or 4 deep for cameramen due to COVID?

This KState OK game isn't bad. Beautiful punt block to get back in the game for Kansas St.

K-State up 3 with 4:30 left!

This is the first game played thus far that made me feel like college football is back.

I don't understand how so many people (outside of VT) thought this Cunningham kid for Louisville was a consensus better QB than Hendon Hooker before the season

Satterfield exceeded expectations in year one and everyone in the media drank the kool aid. It's almost exactly like Syracuse last season.

The Orange and Maroon you see, that's fighting on to victory.

Damn what a kick by the Ragin Cajuns to win it. Clutch

VB born, class of '14

They're a fun team

"That kid you're talking to right there, I think he played his nuts off! And you can quote me on that shit!" -Bud Foster

Looks like KState will win it against OU!

And KSU just took down #3 Oklahoma at home. First HUGE upset of the year.

Oklahoma's annual upset.

I wonder if the Big 12 wishes they would've opted out....

VT isn't the only school that loses to someone they shouldn't every single season?

KSU beat them last year as well. Same team upset them 2 years in a row.

Sounds like one team has the other's number!

"Take care of the little things and the big things will come."

There is a lot of people crying around me right now...

Takeaways from the early games:
-Louisville is not good. Despite that, they would have beaten Pitt if their secondary hadn't lazily allowed a WR TD after his knee not going down
-GT is still bad, Syracuse looked inept until playing the Bees this week.
-Kiffin is an asshat, but the guy can coach Offense
- The Big12 has now achieved irrelevance

Given the above, Miami should handle FSU today, and of course the "U IZ BAK" train will be full-speed ahead until they get stomped by Clemson next week

Big12 won't achieve irrelevance until Texas loses as well, but it will be tough for OU, especially since KState lost to a G5 in the first game.

Good point...forgot about TX.

All the eggs in one basket

Also, Clemson- Miami is on 10/10, so we will more than likely have to endure 2 weeks of unrelenting, unwarranted Da U hype.

K-State lost to Arkansas State when Arkansas State had like 30 guys out for COVID.

Arkansas State for the playoff.

The Orange and Maroon you see, that's fighting on to victory.

Oklahoma lol

Amateur superstar and idiot extraordinaire.

LolUva fumbled the opening kickoff πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

I don't know what a Hokie is, but God is one of them!

Wow... Scott Stadium seeing a normal number of fans today.

Is coronavirus over yet?

Looks like we've got another JV camera crew here. Maybe the ACCN is saving their good crew for the prime time game.

Is coronavirus over yet?

Armstrong for LOLUVA is not even close to Bryce Perkins. Armstrong looks like a typical mediocre LOLUVA QB.

To be fair, his throwing motion and accuracy is very similar.

Is coronavirus over yet?

You are wrong. I have assurances from a man who wears his sweater with the arms tied around his neck that Armstrong is Vanilla Vick.

The Orange and Maroon you see, that's fighting on to victory.

This Duke-UVA game is an awful game of football to watch. Both QBs not looking great.

We better beat the hell out of these assclowns this year. Total scrubs and a bunch of mouths on that team.

Talking about both teams I assume.

Mississippi State can have the best system in the world but if they can't fix this quarterback center exchange they'll look like trash on offense all year. Their timing has been completely off on 2/3rds of their plays just because of bad snaps.

The Orange and Maroon you see, that's fighting on to victory.

Looks like LSU's offense has great wide receivers and nothing else.

I'm surprised that Miss State and Arkansas have looked competent so far given that they had no spring coaching changes.

I thought Brice looked pretty impressive against ND...didn't see anything vs. BC last week.

But he looks terrible today..almost every pass has been a wobbly mess coming out.

Glad to see ACCN has gotten some new commercial sponsors. I really miss raycom's mellow mushroom commercials.

Love seeing dad's old school Iowa State bouncing back after that terrible first game. Caught the end of the game.

WVU certainly looking bad now.

Recovering scientist working in business consulting

Duke's defense has collapsed in the 2nd quarter. They look tired already.

I understand these are unique circumstances, and their solid QB option opted out in early September, but Georgia's QB situation is complete and utter shambles right now.

For those not watching, JT Daniels is not cleared yet medically for his knee, and D'wan Mathis and Stetson Bennett have looked... shaky.

Armstrong not looking like Bryce Perkins at this point.

Duke's defense not looking stellar, but they haven't quit playing just yet.

Dukes offense - not great, Bob.

A couple of observations from the LOLUVA game:

1. Bronco is doing Bronco things. He's got a disciplined, physical, and fundamental football team. I don't know how many games they will win, but they won't be fun to play. Reminds me of old school VT...

2. Armstrong runs way better than he throws. I'll leave that there...

3. Not a single skill position player for LOLUVA is able to showcase a whole lot of speed or agility against the Duke secondary, which consists of two backup players.

4. Chase Brice does not look good at all.

Is coronavirus over yet?

Virginia isn't great, but they are going to make you beat them. They will take advantage if you make mistakes and give them stuff. They're definitely not as good without Perkins.

Their defense looked like it was in slow motion trying to catch up to Duke's TD throw. Unfortunately, they do look like they are playing fundamental football. loluva is always more fun to watch when the wheels are falling off.

Just checked the Louisville score. I had Louisville to win it and they managed to choke it away. They needed three damned points in the 4th to tie it up and they throw two picks? πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

Pitt was in control of that game throughout. Sure it got close, but Looserville certainly didn't choke the game away.

Is coronavirus over yet?

Chase Brice is used to throwing to 5* WRs on the scout team every day.

Is coronavirus over yet?

Mike Leach looks like he's doing alright so far in game 1 with MissSt

Needs more cowbell.

Is it just me, or does Brennan Armstrong have a really strange throwing motion?

Looks a whole lot like Bryce Perkins.

Is coronavirus over yet?

so by transitive property - Memphis should be ranked at least #3 right?

K-St beats OK
Ark St. beat K-St
Memphis beat Ark St.

Duke has more turnovers than UVA had fans at their Spring Game...
πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

This Duke defense is hot garbage right now.

4 picks and a fumble.....there's a formula for how to lose a football game.

The LewDew, Professional Golf Bum

Lol it looks like Texas is about to lose too.

Big 12 will cancel the season tomorrow

Holy crap! They benched Brice.

"Nope, launch him into the sun and fart on him on the way up"
-gobble gobble chumps

"11-0, bro"
-Hunter Carpenter (probably)

That didn't work either. LOL.

Texas State fixing to go into halftime leading BC

#goacc

The Orange and Maroon you see, that's fighting on to victory.

The Air Raid in the SEC might cause some trouble with the kinds of WRs Leach will be able to pull in.

Not that the 3 out there now don't look really good. And the transfer QB can sling it.

I'm not jumping to any conclusions over this game. After this season I bet every defensive staff in the SEC will be meeting/chatting with Jimmy Lake if they haven't done so already.

LSU is probably going to lose as well, but when you look at what happened to their roster from last year it's really not so surprising. Not a bad debut for Leach, but he's certainly lucky to be doing it in front of a wrecked LSU roster and a mostly empty Death Valley. There's only 4 guys out there from last season that I recognize.

OVERTIME ALERT

Texas 56 - 56 Texas Tech

Classic Tennessee.

Amateur superstar and idiot extraordinaire.

Unsurprising revelations from my second screen:

Bama looks insane.

Florida State looks horrible.

So Florida State is certainly one of the worst 4 teams in the league, and possibly one of the worst 2.

The Orange and Maroon you see, that's fighting on to victory.

Umm, who is worse?

Given what I've seen from them so far, the "league" he's referring to might be the entire FBS.

BC scored a TD with 1:11 left and a FG with 0:03 left in the game to beat powerhouse Texas State

Texas State must have fallen victim to the classic blunder of running the prevent against BC with under two minutes to go.

The Orange and Maroon you see, that's fighting on to victory.

Texas A&M won by FIVE over Vandy??? That's not a good look.

The sec is just so deep

I gotta say, I never saw LSU being the weak link in my 7 leg ML parlay bet. Sure enough, the other six all got it done, even Texas.

Miami can run the ball. They were obviously playing a terrible FSU but they did look good again this week

Miami: good.
FSU: sad face bad.

Amateur superstar and idiot extraordinaire.

FSU is AVERAGING 11.5 points a game.

This article cracks me up. Especially this line:

And there isn't enough talent from top to bottom along this roster

Someone should tell him how many 4 and 5 star kids they have on their roster.

They have more talent than they are showing now but Taggart screwed up 2 years of recruiting for them. They have had like 18 transfers in the last 2 years.

Hmmmm 18 sounds a little low for the number of player transferring out of a program. /s

That and I suspect there might have been a bit of the "Miami effect" at play with FSU. That is, they recruited a lot of players with physical talent but maturity issues that didn't translate to the next level.
