Well that comment aged like milk lol
First of all, looking at 2024 spending, Auburn still pulls in more and spends more than VT+$30m/year. And these are FY24 (July '23 - June '24) numbers which don't include the new SEC deal with ESPN/ABC OR the shit pay that VT is going to get in the new ACC Rev Share deal. The $30m is a great start, but it's not going to go as far as people think. (source)
| FY24 Metric | Auburn | VT |
|---|---|---|
| Total AD Revenue | $194,360,814 | $139,458,796 |
| TV Revenue/Media Rights | $65,667,378 | $47,870,708 |
| Donations | $47,555,143 | $31,781,778 |
| Football Spending | $60,851,540 | $40,976,224 |
| Total Football Salaries | $15,390,075 | 11,180,356.00 |
Its a mess there. More than Blacksburg.
It's different kind of mess there, and I think Blacksburg might be a worse mess right now. Auburn has all the infrastructure in place, you just have get everyone marching in the right direction. Come to VT, you have to build it from the ground up, and convince people that it's necessary on the way. And you have to work with limited resources.
Maybe me getting older has changed my perspective, but sone of those SEC jobs aren't appealing.
It's way easier to recruit to Auburn than VT. Auburn will always pay more than VT. And Auburn has better playoff access - remember, the playoff will inevitably expand, and the SEC will likely get 4 teams in most years (be it at large bids or autobids). So you have to finish top quarter of that league. What's easier: finishing top 4 in the SEC or finishing top 1-2 in the ACC? If you're comparing VT to Auburn, it's way easier at Auburn.
Wisconsin is losing to Iowa 20-0 coming up on halftime lol
Drew Allar is the Tony Morelli of Christian Hackenburgs
Someone on USCe with the last name Fuller just ran for a 72 yd TD against LSU
More like Sad Valley, amirite?!
Yeah I think there are going to be a few playoff teams with multiple losses with some bad losses mixed in. Not in the top 4 but the last 8 in will probably include some 3 loss teams. It's good that Bama, Georgia, and the other blue bloods cannot hoard all of the 5 Stars on their three deep anymore.
My issue is when wanting to see a specific set of four games and it limits me to three I want plus a random news broadcast.
I had our game on the big TV today and then multiview on the small TV. I wanted the Indiana/Oregon game and it only allowed me to select two other CFB games with the 4th box being news. This has happened before and to make it worse, when I tried it on my phone this afternoon I could get Indiana/Oregon plus three CFB games. It shouldn't vary by device. I know it's a minor thing and hopefully they will continue to improve it.
Just that they've lost 2 in a row. All 3 of them have now. Those 3 were a combined 9-3 with VT having all the losses. Now 9-9 @ 5-2, 2-2 and 2-5. Things were really looking good for me overall in late September.
I think Norvell's likely out by the end of the season, another open coaching seat we'll have to contend with
Is Yale really that bad? I know they blew a big lead today and Harvard is looking really good. I usually don't check into Yale until the Harvard game.
Not that I think it would happen, but if I were any one of the coaches and I caught that they would be running prints until they throw up. That doest mean each kids runs until they throw-up, it means they all keep running until everyone has thrown-up. And even then, they aren't seeing the field until the 2nd half of the next game.
Well, Virginia Tech and Iowa State and Yale all appear to be in total freefall. At least the Penn State loss is something for me to celebrate.
The shot near the end of the two guys laughing was telling. I didn't play sports at the college level, but I've always been competitive - I fucking HATE losing. Not seeing much of that on the sideline. Like Shoresy said - they don't hate to lose.
Skippys punt return is 14th in the ACC....who knew it would be that high
THIS Skippy could do way better lol ...
Out for the season per Franklin
Michigan will beat them
Yes and THAT tickles me to no end. Outside of VT winning nothing brings a bigger smile to my face.
But again the buyout is huge, even for BIG10 money.
If we are going 8 figures if we have to then why would any one choose Auburn. Its a mess there. More than Blacksburg. UF is better than Auburn but if we're matching salaries do you really want to live in a swamp? Maybe me getting older has changed my perspective, but sone of those SEC jobs aren't appealing.
Indiana may be the only team that can slow down the OSU steamroll of the BIG10.
Well they just lost for 3rd week in a row against...Northwestern....in Happy Valley!
More like UNCs stands every game at halftime
This is why coaching is so important for us Everyone sucks. Everyone might have a very questionable loss on their resume. No one has backups any more. its just getting crazy and VT needs to get in that mix
Most games are available, I haven't had a problem yet not being able to put a game I want in the quad box.
The solution for wanting a bigger screen is having a second TV where you put the main game you want to watch on. Then you monitor the scores on the quad box.

This is why I think paying players has been better for the sport. The talent is significantly more evenly distributed.
